How can we remove the rear strut of 2002 Toyota Echo?

My friend claims to be a car freak so decided to change the rear strut of my 2002 Toyota Echo but got stuck in spring that needs to go down.

How can we press the spring down to proceed.

Look for a tool called ' spring compressor ' that needs to be used.
