  2. As we have been respecting authorities guidance & Carnity COVID guidelines to resume desert drives with caution by keeping social distance and wearing mask at all times outside the vehicle Unfortunately few off-roaders have difficulty in understanding and abiding these guidelines. As published in the national newspaper of UAE, everyone need to understand that still there are no gatherings allowed and authorities are issuing fine for 10,000 AED for host and 5,000 AED for attendees. https://gulfnews.com/uae/health/people-caught-violating-covid-19-safety-instructions-prosecuted-1.1591381059748 If you spot anyone stepping out of the car not wearing a mask, please remind them on the radio immediately. As we all are in this together, so we all have to help each other to remind. Failing to abide below list of restriction will result in an immediate ban from Carnity Off-road Club: FIRST WARNING Minimum 1 month ban from joining any Carnity off-road Club drives. Written warning will be issued on your Carnity profile. SECOND WARNING Minimum 6 month ban from joining any Carnity off-road Club drives. Written warning will be issued on your Carnity profile. 4. @rohan Happy to share my honest review abt Liberty KK (08-12) Currently running stock 3.7 V6 engine.2.5" Rough Country leveling kit. 1.5" Yita spacers but had to remove it as it was causing running issue. 265/70 R17 Dunlop Grandtrex. I have trimmed almost 40%-50% of my front bumper and somewhat similar on the rear one. be prepared to trim the front bumper for fewbie and upwards the stock will break a 100%, for sure. rest everything is stock on my jeep I have be able to handle almost every challenge the dunes had to offer. Initially had an O2 sensor issue and was lacking power but once replaced it has been an absolute beast this is a very common problems with these models . Never had any major issues the engine and transmission is solid even after putting 280K kms on my jeep. i am happy with the overall build. I don't want to say more and jinx it have recently put bigger tyres and need to see how it plays out . Having put these Kms my jeep it is now a hybrib " It burns Oil and Gas" @Srikumar Approach and breakover angles are a bit less when compared to others and you will need to lift it and trim it. once done there will be no issues KK suspension gives good affroad capability and a very comfortable on road experience. Maintenance is not expensive you just to know the right place to get your stuff. eg 6ltr mopar 10k oil is 100aed . overall i would say its not the best but its best for me. it offers good Box looks and decent offroad capabilities you can find 2010 under 100k kms for 15k aed Have been using it for offroading almost 1 1/2 yr and loving it ,would not trade it for anything else.

  5. Good Morning Al Lisali Adventurers @Janarthan @Shiju Manuel @RohanH @asifk @Lorenzo Candelpergher @marks @Jolly Abraham @Nizam Deen @J J @Yousef Alimadadi (and the reserves, in case anyone drops out @Mehmet Volga and @Jorge Stepniak Felippe) Thanks for signing up for the Friday morning drive from Al Lisali to Al Qudra. For most of you this will be quite new territory, so a few things to prepare for mentally in advance of the drive. There are tricky technical dunes we need to pass to get into the wide, flowing dunes that allow us to run from Al Lisali: We have a morning drive, so hopefully the sand will be a little less forgiving, but you will need to be on your game straight from the get go. Unlike many drives where we can ease in slowly to the more difficult dunes, we have the most challenging technical bit straight away. Technical dunes while not as much fun, are important to improve your drive skills. The better you can control your vehicle through the smaller dunes where angles are all important, the better - because this really helps you to understand where the front and back of your car (and the approach angles etc., ) are. Why? Because once you know this, you can understand if a different approach route makes more sense when you have a longer vehicle to avoid cresting or catching a bumper on the way in or out. Once through the technical stuff, the route takes us through some wonderful swooping wide dunes where we will be able to, hopefully, move at speed. Our newest Fewbies on the drive will find this a big difference from Newbie drives, those with a bit more experience and approaching Fewbie+ will enjoy the chance to really attack some of these dunes an start to undersrtand the potential of the vehicle. Come with a full tank of gas! The intention, time permitting is to cover a lot of ground - more than we normally cover when in Qudra or Sharjah. It would really be a shame if someone starts to have range anxiety. Look out for more updates during the week, and as ever, if there are quesitons, please feel free to ask. If anyone has to drop out for any reason, there are reserves waiting in the wings, eager to replace you. Convoy roles will be announced later in the week for 2nd Lead and Sweep. We will be joined by Carnity's own Superman @Rahimdad on the drive to keep us all in order. Have a great week. See you soon in the sand.

  6. Anyone managed to catch the race yesterday - Hungary GP? I am quite impressed with Redbull for fixing Max's suspension on the grid and Max went on to secure no.2 spot on the podium. It was really working under pressure to the perfection. In case you are wondering, Max slide off and hit the tyre wall whilst driving to the starting grid.

  7. @Gaurav and @Wrangeld you can add newbie @Sreejith Sreenivasan on this drive who want to join and add me to wait list on the morning fewbie (Lisaili). Or another drive where places are available. If no places come up if as one drops out , I will join only for the evening fewbie plus drive. Thanks

  8. WD40 won’t help. My guess is that they have been over tightened and the threads have been stretched. What I would do is use a drift and give them a few hard smacks with a hammer before loosening. Sounds counterintuitive but sometimes with stuck nuts, it can help to tighten them a tiny bit more before loosening. The other option is acetylene but you are going to damage the finish on your wheels. Wheel studs don’t actually need to be as tight as most people think. Recommended tightening torque for FJ is only 112Nm. It’s worth investing in a cheap 1/2” torque wrench or a set of torque sticks and giving them a check every so often.

  9. @Vanessa8580 has G015 on her Pajero since 6 months. So far pretty happy. It’s hard to compare because my G012 are 16 inch and her G015 are 18inch, but the G015 looks a little bit more sturdy/less flexible. https://monotukuru.com/yokohama-geolandar-a-t-g015-vs-geolandar-a-t-s-g012/ @Wrangeld description on Page2 gives same info.

  10. Oops, I missed on that point. Now G012 and G015 - I personally have no comments, unless I use G015 too. But going by the Yokohama credibility and super happy with G012, I will definitely give G015 a try.

  13. The only thing that will break non-Chinese OEM lug bolts is if they are over tightened. The thing to do now would be replace all th lug bolts with OEM bolts, since you will never know if the ones you buy from a scrap yard were also not over tightened at some point in their lives.

  14. Agree. If you don't want to compromise on your sound quality, go for Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, or other well known audio brand. Stay away from the Chinese ones unless you will use an external amplifier.

  21. Fuck ! That thing is ugly as sin. US spec means flood damaged or in a crash bad enough that it was written off. Plus 195k miles that's 300k plus kms. Also be weary if rust on these US imports. My buddy once bought a TJ US spec right when the container opened after arriving here. It has been in a slight tip over which cracked the hardtop and a front fender slight bent. But was it a pain in the ass. First of all almost impossible to find a hardtop anywhere. And we found a slightly less damaged repairable one for 4000 plus Then while slowly driving around 30k the rear axel just popped out for no good reason. Then almost impossible to register because frame had rust and the VIN number had rusted away So all in all a massive shit experience but then again nothing else can be said about jeep ownership.

  23. @Ale Vallecchi I have been facing the same dilemma as you about changing tires - not from HT to AT, but being unable to find the Geolandar A/T-S (G-012) anywhere in the market, because apparently this tire has been discontinued and is now the A-T (G015). I had concerns around the A/T because the tread seems more hard core, and I was worried about (even) more road noise while driving to and from the desert. I am also planning to move the front tires from 19" to 21" to balance up the car - even though I think that the stance at the moment looks quite good. I have bene offered all sorts of H/T tires as alternatives to the G012 and none of them has the characteristics that I think make for the type of tire I want off road = more floating, less digging. Also as I am upsizing, there will be a difference in the weight of the tires that might impact on momentum and agility (not to say anything about consumption which I am sure will also suffer once new tires are in place). Problem is that this is a big investment, which ever way we look at it and if it's wrong, it's not like you can take them back.

  27. My guess he was trying to do a jump but a proper jump like in below video. To do that he needs a suspension system matches to the purpose and proper training. Also of course you have to know what is behind the dune. Note for everyone i am sure all of you aware but never ever try this. I wont end well.

  30. There are several ways to cross a dune. We always start with the easiest which is straight up and straight down. Slowly but surely we test your side slopping technique and control. Once we feel you earned a reputation for doing it cleanly comes the most thrilling part which is criss crossing a dune. It is scary at first, but like everything else once you have perfected your technique you'll be craving for these opportunities. The one on one training is to help you conquer your fear and be more confident with the dos and donts of these tricks and more. You are most welcome to sign up for a module or the discounted 4 hours session to improve on your skills. @Ale Vallecchi is right in pointing out that the video posted is for extreme drives. But once you have done a few intermediate drives this will be a piece of cake you won't be able to live without.

  31. Bro - you have been one of those kind, friendly supportive people making this journey so special and enjoyable. I am 100% sure that it's a matter of weeks till you get your deserved promotion, which I am sure would have been much quicker if your car had not played us a few times. You are truly a gentleman among gentlemen and I am not going to forget, ever, your kindness in saving the day when my friend Matt came over and you offered to lead the drive just so we did not let him down. That's the sort of man you are and why you get all the plaudits you do.

  36. @Michael sammy after testing today, it seems Carnity Channel 2 is indeed getting some interference within your vehicle. We will take note of this and make sure that your next convoy that you are assigned too is on another frequency. @Szymon Stankiewicz i was able to program your Crony CN988 with a Baofeng cable and Baofeng BF480 Software (go figure). I was pretty impressed with the battery size, build quality, and volume. Looks like you have a good model. Just unfortunate that it does not have a display, so for re-programming you will always need software / laptop and programming cable. @balaji0007 Your Baofeng 888 is programmed as following: Channel 1-2-3-4 = CARNITY CHANNEL 1 Channel 5-6-7-8 = CARNITY CHANNEL 2 Channel 9-10-11-12 = CARNITY CHANNEL 3 Channel 13-14-15= CARNITY CHANNEL 4 Channel 16 = CARNITY CHANNEL 5 (Backup Frequency) To the other newbies still looking for a radio i would like to advise against buying a walkie-talkie without display, as it needs to be programmed with a laptop, software, and programming cable. We can recommend following models that are equipped with a LCD display: Motorola MT777 or Crony MT777 (same) Baofeng UV5R Prolab WT5-WD Crony CN888 All are available in Dragon Mart. If you have any questions please ask on this thread. @Emad Malaeb @Kalahari @Hafiz Abdul Rahman @Ralph Geonzon @Nayan Shenai @Shiju Manuel @Nizam Mohammed @Najeeb Mohammed @Chaitanya D @Jolly Abraham @Rafal W. @Jamy B. @Jihad Hachem @andersonlorente @Anvar Sadath Bekal @Jorge Stepniak Felippe @Nikhil Saju Paul
