  1. yes, I fully agree... but I have no proof of that because I am not an expert in this, so I can't say for sure that they are charging me illegaly. I can't and I won't accuse anyone as a liar unless I have real proof of it The good job they had done was with the front bumper. It was cracked on the left side and they fixed it so nobody can see that there was any issue ever with it. But that's all... all I can say is "lesson learned" and I let all other readers decide if they want to bring their car to this workshop or not... by the way: this is the adress: Al Qusais Industrial Area 1 opposite zulekha hospital Doha road , street 4B ETS : Mohammad Bin Sallom Auto Repair
  2. here is the story of my personal nightmare with German Car Service (Al Wahda Area)! To be fair, I have to say that the guy (Georges) knows a lot about cars and is doing a good job on your car, but the service is a real nightmare! He has a pick up and delivery service. I visited him first in April and got my car back after 2 weeks, which was a long time but nothing compared to the situation now! And in this 2 weeks he was driving my car more than 1.500 km!!! I didn't realized it at first sight, when I got the car back... I visited him a second time in May because I damaged my bumper. He repaired it really good but this time it took 6 weeks to get my car back. And even that was a hard fight. Everytime when he was telling me that the car is ready "today" I visited him and he sent me away because he didn't finish it. After finally returning the car I saw that he manipulation of the km, but this time the car had less km!? I gave him the car with approx 130.000 km and got it back with 128.000 km! When I asked him about this he only told me that there must be a software mistake... how stupid is that? Then the last time I visited him in July because my AC was not working and I needed a fast solution. He offered to give me a second hand AC compressor which was the half price of a new AC compressor and I should receive the car back the same day... and I am still waiting for my car today!!! He promised me to give me the car back before Ramadan and every day he had another excuse for beeing not ready. I told him that I will travel for 8 weeks and I really really need the car before July 14th and he promised me bring me the car on July 13th at night. I called him at 9 pm and he told me that he will be at my home in 30 Minutes. After that I didn't hear from him and he shut off his phone... So, I had to travel for 8 weeks and the car was with him at that time. 2 weeks later I received a SMS from the police that I had a traffic fine on my car. I called him but he didn't answer the phone. I returned in September to Dubai and called him immediately. He wanted to bring me the car the same day but then he found out that the brakes are not working and he needed to order some parts which takes a few weeks. Because I can't drive without brakes and I couldn't proof that he was wrong, I had to agree. End of October my car was ready and when he wanted me to bring the car, he found out, that the AC compressor was not working again and he had to change it again... so I waited again. Now that the car was finally ready, I was calling him every day and he promised me to deliver it day for day. But he never showed up. And now he is not answering my phone, so I called him today on my friends phone. And he found another excuse: the brakes are not working again... I am not a car professional but this is rediculous! If I don't have my car back by tomorrow I will call the police... sorry for the long story, but I am really upset by this attitude... The only problem I have I can't really proof that he is a liar, but I know my car good enough to know that the brakes are completely all right... I know I made the mistake to trust this guy for too long... and by the way, he is using the customer cars to drive around in Dubai. Everytime he visited me he came with another car and told me that's a customer car... So, it's for you to decide if you want to use his workshop. On the car he is doing a good job but everything else is a nightmare...
  3. my guessing is, approx 10 to 15,000 AED more then the sedan
  4. you are welcome! Just let us know your experience with Geroges! Good luck!
  5. call Georges from German Car Services 0501516757 you can decide if you want new parts or used parts... it will save you a lot of money... GCS is sitting in Business Bay but they will pick up your car from home if you want... I dealt 2 times with GCS and can highly recommend Georges. He knows EVERYTHING about BMW, but at the moment he is so busy, that it could take a while to fix your car...
  6. ah ya sorry... I meant the radiator (water cooling system) not the AC!
  7. the E39 was produced till April 2004 (525i, 530i, 540i)... the M5 was produced only till 2003. The main problems with the 8 Cylinder (535i and 540i) are issues with the cooling system. The repair is quite expensive. I had a 1999 540i a couple of years ago. I loved the performance but I also got the cooling system issues... The most reliable E39 were the 525i the 530i (192 HP + 231 HP).
  8. it's the Semi Automatic Manual Gear for the M-Series
  9. thank you for your feedback! I hope it's nothing serious with your car!
  10. my car is at the moment at a garage called German Car Services. The owner is Georges and he has the equipment to check your car. His garage is at Business Bay. Call him at: 0501516757 good luck!
  11. Hi annemaria (sounds German?) there is no difference in a 2006 or 2007 Series 3. There was a facelift in 2008 (new front, back and navigation system). Comparing a E46 vs E90 would mean your choice is between a 2004 and March 2005 model. (Limousines only. The convertable and coupe were built longer) you won't have any more problems with a 325 compared to a 330/530. The engine is the same! Both are the 3l engines from BMW. The 325 has only less HP. Enjoy!
  12. BMW News... the new BMW X4 will be available End of 2013/Beginning of 2014 http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/x4/61530/bmw-x4-confirmed
  13. I don't have any experience with garages here... but any garage can do that. It's just changing the seats, connect them to the electricity (power seats, ventilation,...). That's it... Do you already have the seats? It doesn't matter to which garage you go, because they have to order the seats at AGMC anyway. There is no other way to get the seats or you are lucky and get some used seats from a third party...
  14. sure it can be done! But it's a big finanical effort. The comfort seats are more expensive than the sport seats... the only problem I see is the color of the leather. Because the comfort seats are not available in all leather colors...
  15. the update was done by BimmerTech... write a message to Patryk, he is in Dubai till 1st week in March I guess... ([email protected]) by the way, this week I did the same. I changed the old CCC into the new CIC on my Series 6! Thanks bimmer tech!
  16. I don't think there is any relationship between automatic cars and more accidents. The longer you drive a manual gear the more you get used to it and you don't give shifting gears any attention in your mind because it becomes physically a fully automatic process. But you are right. Tinted windows are a real problem. My (used) car has also tinted windows (30%) and even this is too much for me. At night I feel very unsecure with it because I can't follow fully the traffic close to me. I am thinking about to remove it...
  17. I follow the prices for around 2 years here in Dubai and I can't tell which car has the worst resale (maybe series 7, because you can make some real bargains with the models from 2001 to 2008. Just have in mind what they cost new and now you can get it for 40,000 AED), but for sure the BEST resale has the X5...
  18. I would like to introduce here the latest news around new BMW cars One of my favourites, the new BMW Series 4 Coupé (Concept Car) - available in summer 2013 http://www.topspeed.com/cars/bmw-4-series/ke3834.html (how can I make this as a clickable link?) enjoy!
  19. in most cases it's the air mass flow meter (or "air mass gauge" - don't know which term is used here in UAE). Costs approx 300 AED only for the material
  20. A software update is not always necessary if you get a new Map! Everything depends on the current software release on your MKIV. The last software release on MKIV is "MKIV SW 4-1/00" (Firmware V.31 - release 03/2008). In Germany it's not allowed to do a software upgrade by yourself (warranty issue). So you have to do it at the BMW dealer. Some dealers do it for free if you get a new Map from them.
  21. there are companies who will eliminate the beep.... just check google...
  22. The BMW Group is owned by a German family called "Quandt". They own 46.6% of all BMW shares. As long as they are alive they will never agree to sell the shares to a foreign country/company
  23. I know this post is old but maybe it can be of any help for other owners in the future... which car (engine) do you have? What color is the smoke? If the smoke is blue (or black) then usually the cylinder-head gasket is the issue! This is dangerous. Go to the service immediately If the smoke is white then you have a problem with the temperature of the cooling water...
  24. Hi there, my used car has some minor issues with the interior. The (beige) leather is dirty and torn on some spots, so I'd like to have it fully cleaned and repaired. Also there are some PVC damages around the gear box. Can anyone recommend a garage where this can be fixed. Has someone experience with a garage like this? I already checked out some companies on the net, but it would be good to have some real experience here. many thanks!
  25. Hi there, my name is Michael and I am a German national. I was very active in the German BMW online community and I hope that I can contribute some knowledge to this forum here. I just moved to Dubai and I am the managing director of a RFID, Auto ID, NFC company. There are a lot of branches in Europe and the Dubai office started just a few weeks ago. My car is - of course - a BMW. I just got a used 2004 BMW 645 Ci. The car has some minor issues and I hope I get here some information to fix everything!
