  1. PCV valves be cleaned or replaced after somewhere between 20,000 to 50,000 km of driving. Consult your owner’s manual to see where the PCV valve is located on your vehicle and what the recommended service intervals are. The valve is usually replaced during scheduled tune-ups, but depending on its type and location, you may be able to check, clean, and replace it yourself. This section has instructions for doing all the jobs. There are several ways to check whether your PCV valve is functioning properly. Pick the one that seems easiest for you. (The engine should be idling no matter which method you choose): Method 1: Remove the PCV valve from the valve cover with the hose still attached. Then place your finger over the open end of the hose. If the valve’s working well, you will feel strong suction. Try shaking the valve. If it’s unobstructed, it should rattle. If it’s fouled, the rattle will be indistinct or non-existent. Method 2: Remove the cap from the oil filler hole on the valve cover and place a stiff piece of paper over the opening. If your PCV valve is working properly, the paper should be sucked against the hole within seconds. If the valve doesn’t seem to be working properly, before you go to the trouble to replace it, try cleaning it to see if that makes a difference. Clean it yourself by immersing it in carburetor cleaner. There should be no gummy deposits or discoloration on a clean valve. If your PCV valve must be replaced, buy a new valve, remove the old one, and insert the new one in its place
  2. Timing belt is due around 80k - 90k, dont over drive it. And secondly get the good technician for changing the timing belt. Its a serious job.
  3. Go to technical garage in Al quoz, they are good in paintwork.
  4. May be brake booster is getting jammed. You have to get it checked.
  5. Check if car isnt overheating. WHen car overheats AC gets cut off automatically to reduce the load of AC on engine.
  6. Nope you dont need to change the rear one. CV joint is kind of consumable item, whichever is torn or dry (out of grease) just change that. Better change in pairs like both front in one go.
  7. how can i check the PCV system of my 1992 JC. thanks

  15. If mean overheating in desert, that's an absolutely different case and there is no solution for that problem. Probably change to aluminium radiator that too with slightly bigger core MIGHT help reducing cherokee temp in desert. My very close friend had that and i know this very nicely. If its overheating on road, then first doubt goes to thermostat only (if both engine and AC fan is fine, which i assume your mechanic must have checked first visually). That means you have good, intelligent and trust worthy mechanic. Its a good plus here. Second doubt goes to radiator as your mechanic suggested. Third and last doubt goes to water pump. Thermostat being cheapest fix and then radiator is moderate expense and then water pump is most expensive of all (dont know the pricing here). Worst part is no one can guarantee anything and you left with hit and trial only. So be friend with mechanic
  16. Ideally as per service manual, timing belt need to change at 100k kms. Little 5-10k kms plus minus wont hurt but dont ignore for long.
  17. Keep a fairy dish washing liquid small bottle and put 5 drops on every refill of whole water in washer fluid canister. You will get sparkling cleaning in fraction of cost. Dont over do it.
  18. when the car started overheating the mechanic kept insisting that the thermostat has gone bad which he changed . but it continues to overheat and on the 2nd trip he is betting his life that its the radiator. now before i get this job done can i first please have the list of possibilities of overheating please i am not interested in wasting anymore time for this. thank you
  19. when is it that the timing belt has to be changed.
