  1. I cant believe that a kia is being compared to a ford .. Fords are well-developed and top-class. Kias are better off being alternative cars at home! If you can afford a ford, go for it, if you cannot, afford something else ... not a kia!
  2. Are you kidding me!!! The Ford Edge is more difficult to maneuver in tight spots. It is pricier and yet has less seating and cargo space than the Kia Sorento. The Sorento is lighter thus gives a good feel behind the wheel. It also has more equipment available for less money.
  3. I don’t think you have actually driven the Ford if you are comparing it with a KIA. You should would know the difference. The Ford offers superior driving experience and a more comfortable interior. Its 3.5-liter V6 is powerful and delivers quick acceleration. To add to that it is quiet and smooth. The Ford Edge requires fewer stops at the gas station than the Sorento. The Ford Edge would render the KIA irrelevant!!
  4. Hello !! I guess it depends on someone’s preference. I think they offer almost identical features. They both are stylish and spacious. They both provide sporty handling and are fairly powerful. Both come standard with leather interiors and have power seats. Both carry four-cylinder and six-cylinder power for efficient utility. Really! There isn’t much difference when it comes to these two.
  5. For starters the KIA is a functional car. It’s a roomy, 4-door, with up to 7-passenger and optional third row seating. Its controls and gauges are clear. It has a new touch screen infotainment. The 2.4L four cylinder engine, six speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive are standard and it has an optional 3.3L v6 engine and all-wheel drive. It offers fuel economy of 28/32kmpg which isn’t the best but is fair.
  6. The other day I was having a debate with a neighbor about the KIA Sorento vs. Ford Edge. I think it’s laughable that he would opt for the Ford. I want to hear some more thoughts on this matter so that I can make fun of him even more. I think the KIA Sorento is much better and reliable plus less pricey.
  7. Kia is good, but again you get what you pay for. Moved from Toyota I strongly feel the difference in build quality and sturdyyness. For long run I think Kia will breakdown more as its budget build car, but for 3-5 year this looks good. As ali mentioned about less number of service center, plus I feel those service center also lack the qualified professional as many time I these guys with blank faces when some tricky situation arise and they keep running in and out.
  8. To be honest, 2014 is too new to explore the re-gearing option. If you don't mind being guinea pig and doing experiment with your new ride and cost please do so. I wouldn't do it in this stage and wait for few months or year to see what gear ratio and what component works perfect. No matter how much mod shop offer guaranteed work, I wouldn't believe until I see solid proof (hope you getting my point and concern). If you still ready for bet, my suggestion is get the stuff imported from US aftermarket part seller, as they are far more honest and straight-forward than this part of the world.
  9. Nitto dune grappler is nice and offer good value for me too. It's just that after year or so it become slightly hard and start showing the cracks on sidewall when you deflate and drive. But overall its nice. Micheline is nice but insanely expensive, whereas you can change the tires two times with Nitto or yokohama. Stay away from BFG as they are very very heavy tires and will slow you down in sand, but in rocks they are amazing.
  10. For getting lift you can check ramy 4x4 in dEira, Icon auto in szr and robbies in al quoz and tazweed in sharjah. these all are good professional shops for quality work. Just for your FYI, this is free forum for all so you need to expect variation in response time. Thats how the online forums work. If you want quick response go to dealer and be ready to spend arm and leg for all the quick answer and work. Not to forget 2 weeks wait for getting appointment. lol.
  11. thanks guys eventually the guys at Trading Enterprises had to change the compressor so you two were right there. It took them a couple of days but the AC seems to be working normally. Really glad I was mentally prepared for all that thanks to you two
  12. Its time to bring out the jeep. winter is here and after reading this inspiring post i decided to get my Jeeps hard top off WOOHOO hope to enjoy some good offroad drives.
  13. hahahahahahah you have actually made the best use of this car. Very inspiring
  14. thanks guys, unfortunately i think i bought one of the bad seeds and now have to deal with it, since i myself am not a bad driver or ignorant towards my car in any way. If anything I have taken really good care of it when i compare it with the people i know with sportages. I think its time for me to move on from the sportage.
  15. I just read a review out of curiosity and for the sake of this discussion. How can a vehicle be all stars for performance and then one star for reliability. LOL this is so ironic.
  16. Although every car owner knows about these small helpful tips, we all tend to ignore them every now and then. Way to go hussain and no wonder you are a satisfied customer.
  17. i always tried to maintain a steady speed when i could. Thanks to the highways here in the UAE especially outside of Dubai, I was able to control the gasoline burning up. And lastly, I am not big on leaving the car on idle. I noticed that a lot of fuel was consumed if i let the vehicle idle a lot. I just used to turn it off when i could. The little money used to save me money on the fuel as well as extra maintenance required by a vehicle since i used to take care of my car.
  18. Due to the climate here in the UAE my AC was always heavily used. I tried to balance out its usage and even a little balance made a different on the fuel economy. Now that the weather is changing it is the perfect time to just use the fan of the car instead of the AC whenever i can.
  19. Sure! nothing different from the usual maintenance tips but they proved to be really helpful for me since i never tried them out before. For example, the first thing was regular tune-ups and oil changes. I just had to keep the engine "healthy". A good running engine improves the fuel economy drastically. Secondly, i always replaced my worn out tires, the pressure from the worn out tires is a lot on cars and eventually effect the fuel economy. Rotate them on a regular basis whenever required so that the friction is reduced between the vehicle and the road. This gives you good fuel economy.
  20. What kind of tips did you get from that expert of yours? please do care to share and spread the love
  21. I bought my sportage and thought that the fuel economy was not as efficient, then i came across a kia expert and got some useful tips to achieve good fuel mileage. Fuel economy depends on a lot of factors and it is a very subjective topic, every person might have differing views about it.
  22. One of my friends own a sportage and he says that after a period of time, the ride hasn't remained as smooth as it used to be. overall he is still willing to give good ratings to the car.
  23. i have been a long time owner of a sportage, i now own the 2013 model and love its interior compatibility. i let my wife drive it around all the time. No stranded stories from my side. Some people might have just been unlucky with the car and that happens even with the big brands.
  24. When i was n the market looking out for a sportage, many people suggested that sportages were good to leave you stranded on the road but as far as the fuel economy is concerned everyone seemed to be convinced that the sportage is very good in terms of the fuel economy - no complaints there. plus the SUV was updated over time in terms of technology and its comfort options.
  25. Seems to be no refrigerant in the AC system like rao rightly pointed out. Dont worry about these small things, just have the Ac checked? if its the compressor causing the problems then they will replace your compressor. these things happen a lot here in the UAE, climate conditions being one of the most common reasons.
