Why is my Hyundai getting check engine light?

thanks didnt expect an answer so really appreciate it -
the check engine light has been on for a few weeks before start issue and when applying acceleration the car is not moving so i got it scanned and the test showed O2 sensor or catylac converter issue. what is causing this
