  1. @Wrangeld thanks for your great trip report with awesome detailing that made me feel as if I was truly there. @Lorenzo Candelpergher you are among very few who actually know how to use drone and then share it's beautiful aerial shot with everyone here. Love your drive video, drone shot, kiddo's excitement and personal introduction. At least in COVID times we can digitally meet new faces this way. @Jeepie @paolo dassi @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ @Anvar Sadath Bekal @J J @Nayan Shenai thanks for sharing wonderful pictures in the gallery. Looks like our resident Superman - @Rahimdad is treating you all newbies with extreme hill climbs very well.

  3. Same for @Michael sammy please sign out as it's an Intermediate level drive.
  4. Leading a desert drive is the most amazing experience to have, where you can combine the fun, freedom, creativity, strategic thinking and survival skills all at once. Leaders lead is the drive where all participant of that drive will lead for a certain period of time. Backed with the right techniques, experience and supervision so that you can learn the art of leading with a peace of mind without any fear or pressure. You will be learning the basics of leading the convoy in the desert in three different steps: Advance sand reading, plan your lead, plan your exits. Use of navigational software for selecting the right course of path. How to systematically scale the lead for all the cars in the convoy. Level: Intermediate and Above. 9. I guess that's why Germans and Americans have move that bloody useless handbrake to different location.
  10. You miss the word "RATED" For such strong or repetitive tugs (more than 3, after soft medium and hard attempt), we secure the rope with support assist rope to absorb any projectile.
  11. Hi Colin, by mistake you have liked and follow the drive instead of RSVP. Check your activity and you can see that too. https://carnity.com/profile/29305-colin-jordan Following - Drive on Monday 9:26 PM Reacted - Like on Monday 9:18 PM
  12. I just gave my "points, feedback and opinion" based on my own little off-road experience "knowing or assuming" some people might have been "brainwashed or influenced" with "brand marketing campaigns or their friends/family". Same way we tell everyone that do not drive regularly all the time in LO gear, as per prevailing myth from thousands other off-road clubs who only focus on power than developing off-road skills. Still if some off-roader wish to drive in LO gear, it's their personal choice. I personally don't feel good or bad if you listen/not to any of these advices, but feel relieved that we have conveyed the message. Job done. @desertdude I have tested my ML 500 (V8), Porsche Cayenne Turbo (V8) and Range Rover Supercharged (V8) in dunes but all of them disappointed me in delivering the power on the right moment I want it because of the technological advancement they offer. Which year latest V8 have you tested in sand? 2003 Armada.....Anything after that.....? The only V8 that performs really well in the desert are the one that are designed for desert extreme use and not multipurpose use: Raptor, F150, Chevy pickups, etc.
  13. Have you tried WD40 and gentle push to see if something is jammed or stuck? For such job any body shop in Al quoz or Aweer, whichever is closer can fix it. If you are near Aweer, I can share two places with who I recently had good experience.
  14. Add a rated D shackle for 50 Dhs from Ace Hardware.
  15. I'm not an expert on suspension technologies and go much with my user experience. I had a rally bred Aragosta suspension with 18 settings on each wheel. Tried almost every god damn setting and never enjoyed that Patrol on road. On off-road as @treks mentioned at medium hard it was plenty for sand. So as a best rule of thumb, go all options mid way and then go backwards to understand what solves your need better. If you are trying to achieve OEM softness for road comfort then don't waste your time. Off-road suspension are made, shown and advertised splashing sand, jumping dunes as that's what they do the best - except road comfort on tarmac.
  16. Good marketing pointers. If it's true then whey after massive sales drop Nissan brought back Y61 after 1-2 year gap. I never mentioned the weight is a constraint, but it might be for sure. It's the host of technological advancement - that scares, fails and disappoint people after spending over 200K. We have had in Carnity drive, Y62 failing to engaging the LO gear and then failing to get back into HI gear, and then eventually I have to winch that Y62 which was running on 2 wheel drive. After self recovering and coming on flat ground after few minute it engage back to HI gear again. Watch it once for fun sake to witness more Range Rovers, Raptor, G63 in the desert - which are far above Y62 price point. I salute and respect Nissan to adapt smart and honest way to sell apple by calling it an apple, rather than a bow and arrow. I assume, they must have tried calling it a bow and arrow but failed miserably so they have learned based on their experience to call an apple an apple. Well let's drive together for a year and then we can revisit these comments again. I had a Range Rover Supercharged with 510 HP and I know very well it's limitation and capabilities alike. It's not the numbers, weight or size always, it's the instant availability of those numbers at a right time. In most modern technological advanced vehicle computers overthink than humans and that's what create lot of differences in the experience what I want and what I end up getting with. Yes @Chaitanya D, you are absolutely right. Y62 is a beautiful vehicle as far as you understand it's limitations and learn to play with those rules, you will enjoy without spending tons on modification.
