  1. Not sure what to say, I'll be checking mine out at 1000rpms in a minute... The roar is normal, mine is like that, it's just the fans/air intake purging. Not a tech'ie but that's my description!! There's a few of us going out this weekend for a drive if you want to try asking other peoples LR owners opinions,, PM me for details if you wanna jump on board
  2. EASY FIX Start car, connect and disconnect seat belt nine times, recycle ignition Now only light shows in dash but no chimes At Your Own Risk I have done this as I work on a compound and am forever in and out of the car during my shift - but have mental switching so that as I go out gate normal 'belt-up' required
  3. I have heard others say that the MAF Sensor causes this sort of problem - you could try disconnecting and seeing if the problem is still there. If it goes, you know to clean and put back on, don't leave it disconected for long, that'll cause more grief
  4. Hi Miaa There are two service garages that I know have women go to them and they have never felt uneasy about their aproach, AAA or A2B. There are so many things this could be and without being in a position to get under the hood yourself you'd best get it to a shop as soon as.
  5. Sorry, hadn't seen any replies before today... Try leaving the disc in for a few hours, can't harm anything - post on here so others know whether it's good to go or not. And as for servicing, we do hear of the odd garage/guy here and there, but like Sharky (Hi matey) say's AAA seem to get the best reviews, non bias as I haven't been yet, but like you my contracts are about up so tell Gordon I sent you and maybe he'll give me that extra discount for referrals, lol All the best
  6. You'll have to join us one weekend, at least if anything else happens there'll be some bods around to help. Pleased to hear it's all good though
  7. All the above, damn I have the safety bit left to do still! You could try Saluki Racing but I've not heard of anyone playing with a LR4 yet. Otherwise try some of the Aussie forums, they seem to be more upfront with their cars than most Glad we could help
  8. 2000 LR4, you sure about that? If it's a LR4 there shouldn't be much you'd want to do unless it's putting a few mods on to make it a little more nimble off road. If it's a 2000, then yes there are many things to be looking at
  9. Hi - any update on this situation, I hope it's all sorted now and you're able to enjoy your car
  10. Victor has said it all; your car was built for this type of trip and longer. Although might be better to go there in Sept/Oct to get the best weather - there's a few of us planning to go down there then. With your car, just do all the normal stuff before any long journey and I'm sure you'll have a great time. I went down 1200kms in to Oman a few months ago. Taking in Mountain, Desert and Islands and the only problem I had was I'd left the HDC on at some stage and the brake system got hot, so when I applied the Electronic Parking Break it refused to release until it had cooled sufficiently. Hope that helps, make sure you let us know how you get on
  11. Hiya, This little excursion shouldn't have made any difference; your car is great out there as long as you drive with care and control. Mine is off road all the time Of cause the chances of some minor damage is always there but generally worth taking a chance just to experience what a very capable and enjoyable car you have
  12. A drive out to a Campsite in the desert this Friday, any level as all can make it to the camp site then small groups going off local from there. This one will probably be the last opportunity to camp out (unless you are a die hard!). The idea of this one is to get as many of the members as possible out to camp. The camping area is hard ground and easily accessed from the tarmac. But... still right on the edge of the dunes. As this is primarly a camping get together all drives into the dunes can be improptu and lead by anyone that feels confident enough to do it. There is no set format on this trip. We will meet at the car park for the Sweihan Park, grid references detailed below. You will preferably have: Tyre deflator Pressure gauge Rated Snatch Strap with Rated Shackles A Shovel Lots of water and refreshments Your lunch & BBQ if your're staying Camping Gear Sense of humor A compressor Trip details: Trip Level: Easy to as hard as you want to make it Meeting time: 1200 hours Moving time: 1230 hours Meeting Point: Sweihan Park car park ( 24°28'6.40"N 55°19'30.49"E) Google Maps Link: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=N24+28+05 ... 4&t=m&z=16 Leave the Tarmac Point: Sweihan to Abu Samrah Road (24°21'36.93"N 55°23'59.34"E) Camping Area: 24°23'55.00"N 55°32'46.18"E See more N24 28 05.2 E55 19 31.0 There will be small convoys coming from Dubai and Northern emirates, as well as one from both Abu Dhabi and Shaharma areas
  13. Have you tried your spare? If it's a 3 or 4 the fob should be recharged via the ignition, I've not had the problem but would use emergency entrance (key in lock on drivers door, hidden by cover on handle) and take it to stealers for checking/re-programming
  14. Hope your doing OK, no one likes hospitals...
  15. Iain, sorry I have a number for a guy with newer DVD's for the Navigation as well. Not sure where just this moment but will find and forward; TomB put me in touch and it was good. I have heard of others being ripped off. Just found it: Ayman, 050 4596 939 He charges 400Dhs which is a nice racket if you can do it, but hey, mine was so out of date they'd only just started on the SZR... Had an issue with the label, had to take it off to make it read properly but the info is good.
  16. Hi Iain, yeah it took me and Theresa about an hour to unpack and fit. Minimal tools required, we used a couple of spanners and a socket set. Any probs feel free to shout
  17. Gas, nothing new to add to this apart from the bits about the CD player - it's the laser that is turned off when you jolt the car, it'll do the same on road if you bump a kerb! Try using an MP3 player. I had some probs with the regulators/motors on the windows in my Freelander and played about trying to fix - it worked out cheaper just to replace as the parts were all comparatively cheap. Take it easy
  18. Hello, I don't think there was any real fussing, it was just that a small group of us got together, from here and went out a few times. We said it would be cool to be able to have a quick and easy medium to be able to keep in touch with, thus the FB group was born. We all use forums too and I am a member of a few, one in Aus and a couple back in UK, but my smart phone doesn't deal with web forums so good - so FB is ideal answer for me. Can't see why they can not run alongside one another, many people have different preferences for how and when the communicate. At the end of the day, it's the Brand we all love and many of us like to take our wheels out and play, see you out there soon
  19. Nutbolt, yes they will as your a member of the other group too and macrover; Yes... I have the Baja Rack wich I really like but there is also the Front runner available over here. Online there seem to be loads, it's just a case of you saying what you want it for and how you intend using it. Kim
  20. Used this number and got in touch; new disc now in place and working well. Was a little scary to start with, it all rebooted and worked fine for about 5 mins after I'd left the chap, then "disc read error" and nothing!! I called the guy back and as you can imagine was a little colourful in my expressions, but true to his word he said it would be OK in an hour or so (it took two hours) but it restarted on it's own and works perfectly. Hope this stops anyone getting too stressed! Kim
  21. Sadly they have not arrived (last chance as I'm outa here today, Yippee!) but I'm sure they will in due course. Thanx for the 'heads-up' Tom, sorta gathered that, but the bug is now well and truly under my skin, just sometimes wish I'd started with a cheaper option but spoilt now, D'oh... K
  22. Hi Tom, Yes it is mine on there with the rack, and as for the rod's, they are already winging their way here - although after two weeks I presume via Alaska! Once I have them my intention is to upgrade the tyres and would like some Black Rims (think they look really good), just have nopt been able to decede on best choice yet. I do try to strech the car occasionally, but it's normally me who gives way first!! So it'll be good to get some vehicle specific info and knowledge. See you on Friday. K
