  1. Hi Thomas, Thans for your reply, I guess I really should have insisted when i got the car 3 years ago, I dont know what will happen and to be honest my future is uncertain in UAE now, i may only have 2 months left so really might soon be looking to just get rid of the vehicle, . . so the last thing i need is to go and lose time and possible extra charges at the agency . . it would have been easier to argue at brand new i imagine. Advice to all new car owners . . if you suspect anything, keep persisting at the agency, Thanks Kiran
  2. HI Mohammed, I am being really bad and still haven't done this timing service # I actually want to but recently my job got terminated so the future is uncertain and I cant go and splash the big money needed - roughly 4500 - 5000 Dhs is what Mitsubishi (official agency) in Garhoud told me last time, The thing is I still havent reached the 115,000km and hopefully have a new job and can do it then but if not am really worried something bad might happen in the meantime because the car does not sound like it is shifting up the gears like how it used to do before when I accelerate :-s I would advise to certainly do it before 110,000 km based on this.
  3. Hi All, I have a question which i hope someone might be able to help with, its something i am sure I asked when i first got the car and was told that that is just how these cars are! Anyway, the A/C unit has a temperature control which shows the temperature being adjustable to even 1/2 a degree right, but regardless of whether i use the auto button or manually set any temperature it always stays the same lowest level of cold unless i turn the temperature upto 28 degrees or so, Is it just my car that I have had this problem or do any of you guys cars allow you to actually properly fine tune the temperature anywhere between 18 and 28 degrees? So far i have been happy to put up with this but just for my curiosity I would like to know, Thanks again guys, Kiran
  4. Hi guys, Ive only ever been out in the sand once with my pajero once across the 2 and half years that ive had it (sob) and that first time i went, this exact same problem happened. The bumper luckily didnt totally rip off but did bend out, . . . however i pushed it back into place and its still lasting, no noticeable difference except normally the underside of that bumper trim looks straight whereas mine has a slight downward curve now :-s anyhow, i wish id thought ofthat aluminium pipe and plastic ties solution, thats genius ! Also, just out of curiosity seeing as ive only ever been once to the dessert with my car, how do your pajeros perform in the dessert, mine is only the middle spec 2009 3.0L version which most people who i have talked to say isnt powerful enough for dessert driving, especially because the pajero is quite a heavy car? also on this car the ABS is apparently always on as there is no "off" switch (apparently only on the top of the range versions) and this affects how well you can drive on the sand? I always ponder taking the car out in the sand again but never found the right opportunity or crowd to have a go again with due to not knowing about how other 3.0 pajeros do? any theories or thoughts you care to share? Anyway, otherwise, great post, Cheers Kiran
  5. Hi Waqas, As my previous post I didnt do it at 100k in the end, . . . funds had to be diverted to other stuff . . and then some more other stuff :-s Then, at 105k i did a standard oil change service with dynatrade and they said they could do the engine timing for about 3000dhs but again i got stuck with other things so didnt do it, Now this weekend gone I have just had normal 110k service with mitsubishi who said I really really should do this so I think I will do it at 115k, just have to make sure i keep the cash aside ! I dont know anything much about these things but I think it is a major job worth doing, these cars are very good as long as you maintain the engine . . . i.e regular oil change and fuel filter etc etc and also this for the engine to keep all the belts and stuff in good condition n synchronized, I imagine past every 100k as the belts get old and lose their elasticity it probably ages the engine a bit more until the timing service is done. so all in all expensive but if you have the funds more easily available than what i have had in recent times , I would say get it done. . . question is whether to do at dynatrade who are good for small stuff and known as an authorizeed mechanic or to stick with mitsubishi who are about 2k ish more, Hope this helps and do let me know what you did in the end, cheers Kiran
  6. Thanks for your message Guarav, I think i will do the full timing service however I will need to save up so maybe by that time the mileage will could be around 110,00km but am wondering is this too much of a risk - also I read up on and could not establish if the cylinder-piston-sparkplug arrangements in the engines of the 3.0L 2009 pajero's are of the interference type, i.e if the timing belt breaks whilst the engine is running would the pistons collide with the sparkplug and cause catastrophic damage thus requiring an engine rebuild? Also, can you tell me if in your opinion it is just as good to go to somewhere like dynatrade or if it is better to stick with mitsubishi for something as major as this - who off course are more expensive but naturally at 2years & 100,000+km the car is far from new and all the warranty etc etc will be towards its end ? Thank you again, Kiran
  7. Hi, what did you guys do in the end? did you do the engine timing service at mitsubishi? My car is at 100,000km and currently in for normal service right now but official mitsubishi workshop recomended I should also do an engine timing service at cost of 5000dhs. The problem is I dont know if I should ? my car was purchased in October 2009 so quite high mileage for its age and i usualy do about two abu dhabi to dubai runs a week, it has also had regular oil changes and almost all services done at the proper intervals at mitsubishi except for the 95,000 oil change. All advice welcome, Many Thanks Kiran
