TRIP REPORT Qudra offers the perfect play ground for Absolute Newbies to start learning the basics of offroading. With a nice looking convoy signed up, I was eagerly looking forward to a wonderful drive. Such was the excitement that I had reached the meeting point at 4:30 am to only find @Vanessa8580 already waiting since 4:20 am. As we started deflating our own tires the entire convoy of Absolute Newbies started trickling in well before the meeting time. With a quick introduction @Vanessa8580 started helping deflate few of the new offroaders who needed assistance. Upon checking the tow points, we came across @izzumonv who unfortunately didnt have tow points at the back of his car. Tow points is the most important requirement to start offroading and its mandatory to have them at the front as well as back. Hope you get them fixed by next weekend and we look forward to having you onboard. With @Pancho as my second lead, @Rahimdad as center forward and @Vanessa8580 in sweep we lined up the entire convoy. After a quick absolute newbie briefing we started moving on some nice easy tracks. Within a km of entering the desert while helping recover @Juan Carlos Elizalde Reyes we found that one of his tyre's sidewall was peeling off. As it was unsafe to drive the car in such a condition in the desert, Rahimdad and Vanessa escorted him back to the road. Juan, your car had some serious lack of power, and probably it is the Oxygen sensor. @AKR had a similar issue and maybe he can share some light on what he did to get it sorted. With the convoy settling down and the increase in confidence, I started increasing the pace in some of the medium range dunes at the back side of Qudra. With plenty of opportunity for side slopping the convoy responded extremely well with a minimal of fuss. Well done. @[email protected] impressed me both with his nicely lifted Pajero as with the drive skills that he displayed. Nicely done. @Hardik Mody was our adventure man for the day with a couple of jumps and going off the track. Luckily nothing happened. However, for me the highlight was how you self recovered yourself out of the pocket. @Tamas Hoffmann was the quietest guy in the convoy and he didnt break a sweat to manage his Pajero throughout the drive. @Gaurav Tomar joined in his JGC. Though it has a lot of power, its a beast that needs some practice to tame. But you managed it well. @Sara EL FANIDI did pretty well in her Wrangler. Couple of moments while doing the side slopping, but overall good driving. @Javier Lucero really enjoyed himself at the back of the convoy despite the cross tracks as he was riding a but higher than the other cars and testing the power of the Wrangler. @Probir Mukherjee joined with the mighty V8 LC and he sailed through most of the dunes with the utmost of ease. Thank you to @Pancho for supporting the drive in second lead position. Big thanks to @Rahimdad and @Vanessa8580 for managing all the refusals and stucks quickly and to ensure that the convoy keeps moving at a good pace. Well done everyone. For the next drives at Newbie level, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag and radio as a minimum. Also like I mentioned during the debriefing, join the Carnity Whatsapp Drive Notification to get the latest updates on the drives and so that you can RSVP on time for the next weekend's drive. Till then drive safe.

RTA approval for adding Stickers on our car
Srikumar replied to Mukundan Nair's topic in Nissan Xterra Forum in UAE
Normally police permission is required if you are doing any big advertising for your vehicle. I dont think the police would bother about the star of any other such stickers. But they might ask you to remove it at the time of renewal. You can goto the Tasjeel or Shamil testing center and ask over there. -

Incase if you have any difficulties you can approach the senior members before the drive who would assist you. 7) Feel free to ask questions at any time. We shall be starting the drive close to Hammari Well at Qudra, and enter the desert through some nice easy tracks and dunes so that you can get familiar with your vehicle. As the convoy's confidence increases I shall be gradually increasing the level of the drive always keeping in mind everyone's comfort level. We will be driving for about 3 hours practicing driving in sand, proper steering control, crossing some dunes, and getting you and your vehicle accustomed to off-roading in general. By 08:30 am we will be heading out towards the Qudra parking, where you can inflate the tyres with your compressor or at the Last Exit gas station.

TRIP REPORT Pick Rock is one of my favorite areas for Newbie and Fewbie drives and hence there is always a lot of excitement which makes me want to reach early. Everyone made it on time barring a couple of guys who came in about 5 minutes late. An important point for everyone is that once you have crossed the stage of Absolute Newbie you need to get the minimum gear which is specified for the Newbie rank. This is not optional but a Mandatory requirement. Also please test or practice using your gear before the drive. This is out of pure courtesy to the rest of the member's time. We started off entering from the 2nd December cafeteria which gave everyone the chance to try scale Pink Rock in the cooler weather. The Newbies who had completed 4 drives with Carnity were given the opportunity and they made the most of it. There was a little bit of fishtailing on the first attempt which they corrected in the second and third attempt. After playing for about 30 minutes, we moved in the direction of Big Red. The red sand during sunrise is an amazing view especially if you get on top of one of the higher dunes. Makes it absolutely worth getting up so early in the morning. @topgear was my second lead. He did wonderfully well in keeping the necessary distance and communicating clearly with me on the radio. @Newton Rozario was my sweep and it was nice to hear the continuous communication from his side about the convoy position which is very essential in big convoys. @Sreejith Sreenivasan in his LR2 for me was a revelation. Other than a pop-out which took about 10 minutes to fix, he drove extremely well in many areas that I felt he wouldn't be able to make it. Well done. @Ammar Naji with the mighty Ford Expedition has improved a lot from his first AN drive and is able to harness the power of his V8 in a better manner. One advice is that when you are in a stuck position, too much of gas doesn't help especially in your car as with the weight you will dig in fast. You need to keep the gas at 1500 rpm max when you are trying to self recover. It was great to see the team effort put in by everyone to help shovel during that one stuck towards the end of the drive. @Vineeth John Joseph was probably the quietest guy in the entire convoy and with just a couple of refusals managed very well through the entire drive. Nicely done buddy. The wrangler boys @Vijaysekhar @Taha Elghuel @h1fny @Neale Faulkner @Onlyjunaid @Jeandre Bezuidenhout @Hennie Schoeman glided and sailed through most of the dunes with the utmost of ease. Good job. Special mention to @Nivin who supported the drive and was actively involved in all the recoveries and helping the other drivers when needed. Thank you. For me, it was personally a near Perfect Newbie drive where we covered some good ground through the dunes in some nice weather. See you next weekend.
