abid: type of noise is like knocking. i took car to a mechanic. he told that there is a leak in silencer manifold. is that correct noise is produced due to leak in silencer? what about resetting the car to adjust the varying acceleration?

i am facing the problem of noise while car at initial moving until it reaches speed of 50-60km/hr. also at car on break and not in neutral gear. the noise is coming from front side. can any one explain the whats the problem and which part is been effected. what will be the cost to repair this problem?
