Good. As long as you need prior approval, that’s important. I’d hate to see you get screwed. Tarhan is in Istanbul now. He left maybe 6 weeks ago. I still speak to him every day but he hasn’t said when he’s coming back. I think he’s just enjoying the weather there and being with family now. Maybe after summer he’ll come back to Dubai, I don’t know. You’re still welcome to come and visit the shop any time.

Was in Rashidiya today getting a custom exhaust built and spotted these. Original F&F Supra and Paul Walkers personal Evo. Anyone know who owns them? Have a grand tour employee who wants to do an interview.
-
I hope you got a written quote with no hidden clauses? By the way, we have a stretched and lifted ‘47 Willys at the shop if you want to prove your dedication to the brand 😂

I’m used to driving stupid stuff I can’t get parts for but this is one fish I wouldn’t even attempt to fry.

I used to see one of these parked outside a garage in al quoz. It must be there for almost a year. I guess the garage have no idea how to repair it. It always interested me but I never wrecked my brain thinking about it. I was driving in Barsha today and I saw one in the wild and it piqued my interest so I did some research. That company got hit with bad luck after bad luck and eventually bad luck closed them. It must take some massive testicles to drive a car like that every day when you know you can’t get parts for it. Fun fact - Carlos Santana had one and crashed it into 2 parked cars in 2013. If anyone has ever seen Santana’s 1969 Woodstock set, I don’t think he fell asleep. More likely he was trying to steer his car towards the sky.

There’s too much stuff to list, it will take me weeks. If anyone wants to come and look they’re more than welcome.

Do you drive with your left or right hand more?
Barry replied to Gaurav's topic in General Discussions
I really do use both hands all the time and I’ve noticed that I do it at all speeds. It’s not a conscious thing, it just happens. I think you’re right about the caution part. It’s been so long since I have actually been driving properly and now that I am, my brain is subconsciously telling me to always be careful. Before I don’t care if I’m speeding a bit, I’ll pull the handbrake on roundabouts for fun, driving is fun, now I’m watching everything I do. -

Sorry, but both hands 😂 I was actually thinking about this when I was driving to work this morning and noticed I had started using both hands on the wheel. I used to drive right hand on the wheel, left hand on the gears when I was in my RHD home country where most cars are manual. Now 99% of stuff I drive is automatic so I guess my spare hand found it’s way back onto the wheel. -
A badly balanced wheel willl always vibrate at speed. If it’s only under acceleration it might be an engine problem. That’s why I’m asking these questions.

I won’t recommend my garage because it’s illegal and Carnity will hunt me down and kill me but check out the garages section on here https://carnity.com/business_listing/car-services/general-service-workshopI Check the garages ratings. It’s more reliable than google where people only tend to post bad reviews when they’re in a bad mood

2017 JGC Transmission oil cooler and return hose
Barry replied to Brette's topic in Jeep Grand Cherokee Forum in UAE
Did somebody say red horse? I’m in! BMW road is ok to find stuff but it’s a mess. The road sucks, potholes will ruin your car, and there’s no traffic discipline. You spend most of your time watching out for people scooting about randomly on mopeds. You have to deal with beggars and people trying to sell you peanuts at every junction. Saja’a Is a much nicer experience. -
I agree with the rest of you guys that wheel balancing could cause a vibration but the vibration would be constant, not just on acceleration. The fact that the car only does it when accelerating tells me that the engine is hesitating under load, probably due to bad spark plugs or weak coils. This is just my opinion though, judging from what I’ve read. I may or may not be wrong. I can’t properly diagnose a car that isn’t with me, I can just make educated guesses on the information supplied. You have already replace the engine and transmission mounts so that’s ruled out. The person that told you to do that isn’t a professional mechanic. Professionals fix the problem first time, not guess and swap parts at the customers expense and hope the problem goes away. You need to find a proper technician in a proper garage. All any of us can do here is offer educated guesses.

It only happens when you’re accelerating between 40-60? What happens when you’re cruising at a speed between 40-60? Does it still vibrate?

@Frederic I restored a silver Opel GT 7-8 years ago. I’ve seen plenty in magazines but it’s the only one I’ve seen in real life. I loved how the headlights flip round in a circle rather than just pop up and down. Very cool car. I must check and see if I still have photos of the build. Manta is a cool car too but rust got most of them so you don’t see many now. They aren’t worth as much as Escorts so there are less people restoring them. The 400 was the dogs danglies with the flared arches. Still a lot of people rallying them in Ireland. Corsa was called Nova in UK/Ireland until the mid 90s. When the Corsa B came out, the name changed from Nova to Corsa. I have had a lot of both. Nearly got killed in one. Was parked nicely at the side of the road and a truck decided to reverse through the windscreen then over the roof. Said he never felt a thing. Ive had a few kadettes/astras over the years too. Always had bad luck with them too. First car was a Mk3 Cavalier when I was 10/11, used to race it around the fields at home until the engine blew up. Favourite GM I had has to be a 2 door Chevette saloon. Someone I knew was scrapping a shell so I built it over a month just for fun. Was super ratty but manual, rwd, welded diff, what’s not to love? That ended up in the bottom of a culvert. I remember asking the scrap man to come and pick it up. He came and looked and said how the hell am I supposed to get that out of there? Im a true blue ford guy but I’ve had an unhealthy amount of Opel/Vauxhall’s.

Your best bet would be to have a drive around Saja’a Scrap area Al Saja'a Industrial Suburb Sharjah https://goo.gl/maps/qWo35EYbcYJkuvHo9 All the shops are nicely laid out and they all have signs outside and you can probably check the whole area out in an hour. Im going there next week but it will probably be Monday/Tuesday. If you don’t get sorted in the meantime let me know and I’ll check when I’m there. -
Setting a speed limit for adverse weather conditions is a bit daft imo. What if they set the speed limit at 80 but visibility is 20 metres? These idiots will still drive as fast as they are allowed to with no thought to stopping distances. You should always be able to stop in the distance you can see ahead of you.

There are good garages and bad garages out there, we all know that. I charge a lot for my work. 250 Dhs per hour. With good reason Some people who are chasing the smallest price think that’s expensive but they don’t see what I do. 16 years experience, the latest most up to date computers, investing in new tools every month, but hey, experience means nothing here, go get a car check for 50 Dhs and tell everyone you got a cheap checkup. When your ball joints fall out 3 months later, that’s what you paid for
-
It’s sad when you have to do things like this to save a few dirhams. I spent all morning driving around Sharjah because a customer didn’t like my parts prices. I saved him 40 dhs on parts but it cost me 80 dhs in petrol to get a 40 dhs saving. So the parts are actually going to cost him the same. But he’s happy because they’re from Sharjah. I didn’t even add my time into it or he would be bankrupt. I don’t understand some people’s mentality.

Left field suggestion, MX 5. Realistically you can’t use a 300 bhp car much here other than accelerating from 80-120 on the 311. Unless you’re doing track days at the autodrome, then it makes sense. MX 5 has less power but the handling is second to none and it’s a good car you can use every day and not have to worry about ENOC raping your wallet every 2 days. Plus it’s rare here, so it stands out more than the generic mustang or camaro.

Gulf star Sharjah. Thank you. I have been trying to remember the name of that company for a long time. Used them in the past and I found them to be the best priced LR parts in uae. Plus they deliver to Dubai for free.
-
It’s just a quick check of the basics. Meh. To check a car properly you really need access to a lift and a diagnostic computer. 20 minutes with a lift and computer can help you knock a huge chunk off the price. I have seen people saving 10k on the price of a car after bringing it to me for a check. If something isn’t perfect a proper mechanic is going to spot it. Some people think spending 500 on a pre purchase check is expensive, but if you even save 1,000 you’re already ahead.

No I need cv for manager with experience of mechanic
-
Anyone here good at making CV/Resumes? I’ve always been lucky and did walk interviews and got lucky and got the job first time. The market is tough now. I advertised for a mechanic last week and got 800 applications. I can’t even sort through the applications I need someone to make me a good cv, something to stand out. Will pay cash for a proper one

I’ve had a lot of family and close friends die on bikes. I can say the same for cars. There’s no need to dress like a power ranger these days. A pair of Kevlar jeans and a proper leather jacket that didn’t come from global village will offer you good protection. The problem are these people known as “shrimps”. You know the type, hayabusa or gsxr with extended swing arm, riding in shorts, t shirt and flip flops. These people give honest bikers a bad name. I will bless them though because they are a source of organs for sick people
