This reminds me of half cut P38 Range Rover that one of the big guy modded here in 90's for hunting here in UAE. Seen that couple of times in shabby condition on road few times lately. So that guy must be real inspiration for LR topless ideas ;-)

I saw it 2 weeks back in Badayer, He has made the rear seats higher like a stadium seating, I guess for hunting pupose for rear seat passengers. It has an awesome role cage as well.

  2. Charity to the Dubai Police staff who is crippled in accidents and so on or for UAE Nationals crippled by accident.

I am not totally against it, but there are better ways of spending AED 33 Million.

Set up some kind of a business where you can employ so many people and help them earn their living. So many slumps in India, do something for your Indian brothers and sisters to help them live in better conditions and establish a means of earning for them.

    Just the way I feel.

Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Honda Accord should stack up just fine in and around that range.

If you need SUV, then Outlander, Fortuner, Xterra should be in ballpark range.

Agree with Amid on this one, though you can also have a look at the Pajero, starting from AED 89,900/- it is excellent car, plus they offer you some slack on payment, free service and some extras that you might enjoy.

  4. The best recovery company available in the UAE is AAA, you call  04 2 858 989 for any queries.

Another company I would trust is ATC, they are affiliated with EMSF (Emirates Motor Sport Federation), they can recover you even from the middle of the desert.

Al Wuheida Street, Al Mamzar - Po Box 5078
    Dubai - United Arab Emirates
    Tel: +971 4 2961122 - Fax: +971 4 2961133

    Hope this helps.

The real problem with this silly statement is that in aircraft, autopilot systems actually work. One would have expected more from a man that designed a rocket that can land upright on a ship after delivering a satellite to space.

Hahahahaha, Good one. I guess everything has a time. the idea is there and being built upon, I am sure they will find solutions to the on going problems. I love technology, but to a limit, I would like to drive my own car at this time, maybe when I am older I might want technology to be ready to drive me around safely.

  6. Most welcome Ma7amad, oil leaks are common in land Rovers, it seems something is wrong with your LR if its not leaking. The funny thing is after all the leaks also the level of oil does not drop so much and this is one riddle I could not solve, just carried extra oil, ATF, brake fluid and coolant on every trip, but hardly had to use it.

  7. My cousin brother got a Camaro a couple of years back and he got it with special paint through Al Ghandi. So far he is the only one in UAE to own a Camaro in that colour and I suggest you speak to the dealer about the colour you want and they can paint it in original for you. Sure they will charge you that extra for the paint, however if you are hell bent on that colour than this can definitely help.

hi baraz i have seen many for a while but it is less available now u can still follow the used cars sale sites on the net sure someone shall offer it for sale someday in general that model is differs only in the interior and more intertainment and security but the engine, suspension and gearbox is the same the main problem with this car is the fuel consumption really is very bad, knowledge less mechanics  whom made that bad repetition for this specific model.

Hi Ma7amad, I myself owned a 1998 Discovery 1 for 5 years, the best 5 years of my life. What an amazing drive. I know a garage in Sharjah which handles only Land Rovers, give them a Range Rover, Discovery, LR2, LR3, LR4, Defender, anything Land Rover and they know what they are doing. They source parts and their labour cost is also low, I was introduced to them by Gaurav who had owned a Range Rover also. You can call Aqil on 055 899 0092.

Some very nice point made by @Yont and I totally agree that owning a car is lot more than the need, brand loyalty or resale. It's actually a marriage between the dealer and owner that keeps this relation sailing for years to come.

Slight mistake and your whole car owning experience is doomed. Many years ago I had Honda Accord and after couple of robotic service from some dumbest human existing on this planet I sold that car. That was the time when honda used to be Trading enterprise and not al futtaim. They were literally heartless, mind-less, merciless robotic service adviser that use to piss me off on every service and I used to ask, what wrong in my life I have done to get this stupid behavior when I am paying double the market price for normal oil change (5K) service.

I also have owned many brands in UAE, but service standard and user-friendliness of Al Futtaim is "THE BEST"

Just for your information Adil, Al Futtaim Motors and Trading Enterprises are the same owner, Al Futtaim deals with Toyota and Trading Enterprises with Honda, Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Volvo.,

  10. Shizzles.

I have to keep myself awake if I am driving on a straight and half empty road, I can't imagine if I am on auto pilot, I might wake up on the other side.

For now I will keep my driving purely manual, or else where is the joy of driving. Auto pilot must be good for some people, but it is only technology and people need to pay attention to the road even if there is an auto drive function in their vehicle.

The horror story last year about a Toyota Land Cruiser being stuck in Cruise Control at 140 KPH gives me the shivers. Cruise Control being around now for ages gives me less confidence in this auto pilot and being old fashioned I would prefer to keep my limbs where they are supposed to be, hands on the steering wheel, foot on accelerator and brake, eyes on the road.
