  1. Amazing @Kalahari ! Really looking forward to be in one of your drives very soon !
  2. A big congrats @Wrangeld. Having been in the dunes with a large convoy myself this morning i totally understand how it feels hearing the sweep on the radio saying “convoy is moving again” after you’ve started driving 5 minutes prior 🤣
  3. Hi @Yusuf Esaf Once you have completed 5 Newbie drives you can apply for a promotion:
  4. DRIVE REPORT Another beautiful morning with fellow adventurers ! When i arrived at the deflation point which was a bit hidden due to the fog, i decided to park my car at the road side just to make sure that everyone found their way in. It became quite clear that the offroad season was starting because some other clubs also decided to line up and started deflating nearby. With @Vineeth John Joseph in my second lead, and @Sreejith Sreenivasan as our sweep in the back, we set off around 6:40 and were greeted by a rising sun, a gentle dew, and driving with the windows open was a pure delight which made the early waking up totally worth it. The gentle dunes at the start of the Tawi Nazwa farms lead all the way to the base of Pink Rock, and was easy terrain where everyone was sliding through without any hiccups at all. Once we reached the base of Pink Rock, and noticed the sand was really churned up, with so many other clubs, motorcycles, quads passing by, the going became a bit tougher and we had some stucks and refusals at a few dunes from the base of Pink Rock. @Abu Muhammad with his "Sequndra" got stuck in the soft sand, but showed us some very nice self recoveries in the process. Same for @SyedObaid that used his rear difflock when needed and saved us from the shoveling. Thanks to the whole convoy for waiting while we were dealing with these recoveries. Climbing Pink Rock is every once in a while on our agenda with a Newbie convoy, and @Vineeth John Joseph and @Mukundan Nair went first up and helped to communicate with me to send up the cars one at at time. Thanks guys ! It was nice to see all cars making it up, and this is a perfect excercise to wake up the V6'es and let them roar a bit. We had a few V8's as well and these climbed Pink Rock as it was Sheikh Zayed Road Since we had a bit more time, we decided to play a little bit at the back side of Pink Rock where the dunes are a bit more technical and where you have some nice bowls to drive around (not in). When passing by @Yasas Dharmadasa his Jeep i heard a hissing sound coming from the engine bay, and after shutting down the engine we noticed there was no water anymore in the expansion bottle, and the radiator hose had come off partially. We filled up the expansion tank with a few litres and clamped the hose back into place. Luckily the car did not show signs of overheating so we could make our way back to the inflation point near 2nd December Cafeteria. @Archibald Jurdi you are the first owner of a TJ with a sprinkler system in the back of the car. 🤣 For a second time in the desert you did great, and you've probably noticed the improvement when deflating further. The heavy BF Goodrich tyres are not ideal but for the time being you can drive at 10-11psi as this will help your flotation in the sand. When the time comes to change your tyres a more skinny All Terrain tyre will do wonders (Yokohama Geolandar for example). @Pickey Singh with the black beauty was not finding much difficulties along the way, well done ! @Ranjan Das your Discovery is doing amazing stuff in this terrain, but most of all your precise control and momentum is doing wonders. Keep up the good work ! @Yasas Dharmadasa That Jeep keeps going, even without water Well driven ! @VipinShetty Thanks for your help during the drive, always good to have you around ! @Tariq Niyas that Montero Sport has proved it can do great stuff in the right hands. That self recovery in the pocket where you reversed and built momentum was very well done and with perfect momentum. Keep it up ! @SyedObaid you were the only Pajero member, well except for myself Well driven ! @Sajit Modiyil i remember your first drive in Al Qudra still very clearly. What i see now is a confident driver with a precise steering control and your positive helping attitude will take you far in Carnity ! Thanks ! @Aravind Padmaraju we've missed you today, i hope everything is fine and nothing serious has happened. @[email protected] with your FJ Cruiser you are driving confidently and you are making your way through the dunes with ease. Very impressed ! @Abu Muhammad your positive attitude and unique vehicle always brings a smile to my face, well done today ! @Lukas Lewis your Explorer seems to love exploring, and took you through the terrain with ease. Well done ! @DANIEL NOGUEIRA you always come full of positive spirit to the drive and i hope you had a good time. Seeing your black beast ascending Pink Rock was an amazing sight ! Last but not least @Sreejith Sreenivasan who kept the convoy nicely together and was the perfect communicator so i always knew what was happening at the back of that super long convoy, a big thank you for the help today and rising to the occasion ! See you guys soon in the sand again ! Have a nice weekend !
  5. This is not an Off-road friendly vehicle. I would definitely pass on it.
  6. A notification was already sent out last Sunday, and was also mentioned in the drive report that this was a drive for Absolute Newbies only.
  7. Hi @Mostafa Ismail It should be in your account settings.Or try below link: https://carnity.com/settings/country
  8. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED As we will be having a pretty big convoy tomorrow, some requests from my side: - When you deflate, please double-check if you are at 14-15PSI for street tyres, and 12-13PSI if you have A/T tyres. This will help in flotation. - Make sure you all have an offroad flag, programmed radio for Carnity frequencies, pressure gauge, and a shovel. Without these tools you will not be allowed on the drive. - For the Fewbies, please do help in assisting your fellow Newbies where you can. - Please abide by the COVID rules strictly. - Keep 4-5 cars distance between the cars so you can keep your momentum at all times. If you need to stop, try to find a flat spot and coast to a stop (no hard braking). - Please tune in to Channel 2: 446.03125 Mhz on your radio. See you guys tomorrow 06:00AM Sharp !
  9. Current Waitlist: 1) @[email protected] 2) @Ranjan Das 3) @Arda Yagcioglu We are doing our best and hopeful we will find spaces for some (if not all) of you on Friday. Normally, after the drive reminder is sent we find that a few people remember they have another commitment, or some people simply cannot make it. Please continue to stay on standby as things change at the last minute. You might get a message late Thursday that a place has come up, or a message that we can take you - so please don't give up hope yet. Thanks !
  10. Hi @Sreejith Sreenivasan and @VipinShetty I have added you guys as support members in this drive (under the manage tab). Please confirm if you can make it. Main intention is to see if we can add the remaining waitlist members in the drive. Some support will be needed in that case.
  11. Congrats @sertac ! We havent been driving together very often but i am really looking forward to one of your leads very soon ! Keep up the good work !
  12. @Brette we have started our Carnity adventure around the same time, and i admired you (and still do) for bringing the JGC on a weekly basis which gave you a bit more of steeper learning curve in comparison with my little blue. You have come a long way since then, and your weekly support on the drives, your positive attitude, and friendly approach to all members have brought this well deserved promotion. The road is now open again for the next challenge which no doubt you will master very quickly ! Congrats !!
  13. Yes, that looks good and could be used a your second gauge
  14. We need to split them up in two categories: 1) USA spec cars: These are mostly insurance written off vehicles from US that were involved in an accident or have flood damage. You can be lucky to find one which was exported for none of these reasons, but you will need to be extra cautious, do a VIN check and try to find owner/maintenance history and get the vehicle inspected by a skilled mechanic. In some cases the cars are imported in the UAE, quicky welded back together in a workshop in Sharjah, and thrown back on the market. In other words if you don't want to take these risks AVOID US spec cars. 2) Japan spec cars: These are mostly vehicles that did not pass the strict yearly inspections in Japan, or were exported because of age or other reasons. I have seen very nice low mileage Japan cars and personally would not mind buying one if the condition is fine. In both above cases the pitfalls is buying a salvaged vehicle that has been fixed up quickly, in other words a LEMON. But if you want to take the risk, benefits are much lower prices. Also note that some non-GCC vehicles do not have the same specs in terms of engine cooling / radiator, and will struggle in this climate. @DANIEL NOGUEIRA as you are in the business, you can tell me i am wrong or add your view on this.
  15. Hi @RAKIN KURIAKOSE you will only be able to use them if you are able to find a programming cable and laptop with the Crony software. The software can be downloaded from cronyelec.com but is mostly in Chinese language so it’s a bit tricky. the cable you can find in Dragon mart (baofeng USB cable works also). If you are not technically inclined i would recommend you to buy the Crony MT777 or Baofeng UV5R. These can be programmed without cables or software as they have a programming display.
  16. Nice write up. Having a project car is amazing and seeing it slowly coming alive and getting better gives a huge sense of achievement, as long as you remain realistic about the money, labor, sweat and tears it might also take. With the money I have spent already on my little project car, I could have bought a nice capable Off-roader with less miles on the clock, but then again I love driving something that’s rare and brings a challenge to tame. I totally understand this guy and wish him all the best to make the beast roar again. Best feeling in the world!
  17. @RAKIN KURIAKOSE the Absolute Newbie drive is exclusively for members who join for the first time. As you have joined the last Absolute Newbie drive already last Friday please RSVP for one of the available newbie drives or send a message on the drive topic to be put in the waiting list.
  18. In a time not too very long ago, Richard and Marjan joined our club with the main desire of doing some stuff together on the weekends and enjoying the wonderful scenery that UAE has to offer. They came across Carnity but little did they probably know how far this would bring them. Fast forward a year or something and both of you have come to an off-road level in the club that requires patience, skills, mental resilience, and so much more. All skills that both of you bring and demonstrate every single week and I am delighted with this news. The Carnity family has another pillar and I look forward to many more drives with you and cracking jokes together over the radio or while deflating at 03:00 in the morning with eyes still half shut 🤣. To many more valve stems flying out, compressors exploding, and flags falling off the coming years !! See you soon in our sands or my backyard 😜
  19. Little on the high side, but if well maintained and not abused you could be having a fantastic offroad vehicle.
  20. Not 100% sure but i think this was the location: https://goo.gl/maps/FED543eHd7Tpc7Qw8 If not, just continue further on the road direction Sharjah. It was a car dealer and there were at least 4-5 Pathfinders R50 next to each other.
