  1. The Traction Control and ABS work together as one to apply braking power to the wheels that are slipping. So yes these should be switched off in the sand. With regards to Airbags, the frontal airbag is fine and does not need to be switched off as this one only works on frontal impact. Side airbags (curtain airbags) are triggered by a yaw sensor and this should definitely be disabled if you have them.
  2. @luis mantecon i noticed your query about the traction control. Seems the kill switch is the best option. (see above).
  3. @AnishS will be able to point you in the right direction as we do not advertise any workshop names here on the forum.
  4. @Ilya Golubinsky @Tariq Carrimjee @Jeandre Bezuidenhout @Kailas I just tagged few of your fellow Wranglerinos
  5. Thanks @Lakshmi Narasimhan and well done ! Based on your questions, input, and preparation in getting all the tools it confirms you are serious about getting the offroad spirit. See you coming Friday !
  6. Once you have send entering the manifold it will have gotten to the internal components such as valves and cylinders. Sand is extremely hard and will damage bearings very soon. My suggestion would be to change the engine oil immediately and get the engine flushed (most oil change shops have this kind of machine). This would remove hopefully most of the sand.
  7. Thanks @Rizwanm2 i noticed it only this morning as it only works on the desktop (website). It works similar to google Earth 3D function, but i only see the functionality being interesting in the mountains, as anything below 200m is not that impressive and the results in 2D are often more accurate.
  8. If you had sand in the intake manifold I’m afraid the engine will be failing soon. @Ale Vallecchi also had its fair share after a similar problem occurred.
  9. I hope you enjoyed your first Club drive today @luis mantecon ! See you soon in the sand !
  10. Hi @new guy ! The Ford Edge is a nice car as your first car, no doubt about that. Take a look at the following advice with regards to buying second-hand and what to look out for:
  11. DRIVE REPORT FRED's CONVOY Two big Carnity Convoys taking over Faqa North and Solar Park area. What else can we say about this drive ? - Everyone was excited to explore and up to the challenges we faced. - Apart from some small refusals, some shoveling and a few tugs, we were saved from serious stucks or technical issues. I was happy to see lots of guys in my convoy that i saw progressing through the ranks within our offroad club. It's amazing to see some of them gliding through the dunes with ease now ! In total, we covered 82kms, not just from doing sabkhas but we did our fair share of technical areas as well. And Oryx. so much Oryx we saw I wanted to use the play areas nearby the exit point (Solar Park Long dunes) as well, but time was slowly running out and wanted on the right time. We will definitely put them on the program next time. See you all soon back in the sand !
  12. Welcome Luis ! I am sure if you had fun on my drive, you’ll be having a blast every week !
