Have had ceramic coating on a black car before, not here but in sweden. Not sure how much difference the countries make but i added it when the car was new from factory and it didn't do much. Cleanend it day 1 and dusty day 2 the only thing i noticed it that it seemed easier to clean, dirt didn't stick, so it just basically needed a hose and a dry and it was good.

Have a similar issue, i have a vibration sometimes its strange.
Sometimes its fine and sometimes i can feel it but barley in the steering wheel.
Have had this issue in the vintner in a bunch of different cars snow melts and leave water on the rim that becomes ice and vibrates, but what is it here??
Sand wouldn't stay?

This is just a theory, and leaving @Barrys very valid points about DPF regeneration aside for the moment, I am thinking that the only people who don't like diesels are the ones who have never driven a modern diesel.
that seems very true....

By the way it is tested 320d is faster than 320i. If I am not mistaken 320d 190hp and 320i 170hp.
According to the specs they are the same, the diesel have more HP and a lot more torque so its probably gearbox setup and thats what make the diesel to consume less fuel.
a fun site if you want to compare https://www.ultimatespecs.com/

So a 2L diesel engine is faster than a 2L petrol engine. Oy vey where is the facepalm emoji when you need it!
Did not say it was faster, i said it was fast compared to any standard 2L Petrol, you can't really compare it like that its all due to setup. Apples vs Pears.....
But today most manufacturers that have both diesel and petrol option for a specific model set the cars up to be the same(top-speed, acceleration and handling), but the diesel will consume less fuel.

Compared to a 2L petrol?
And 1985! I saw a 2006 Range Rover start and it sounded like a tractor even at idle.
Agreed the latest generation of European sedans and SUVs are quite-ish and reasonably quick.
But here one doesn't buy a luxury high end vehicle with fuel consumption in mind.
Well Range rovers are all tractors so it doesn't matter if its diesel or petrol
and yes fast compared to a 2L petrol

Also for onroad use where the 0-100 is more important than top-speed torque is a big winner!

Oh and until very recently before the fuel prices got deregulated Diesel was very expensive.
I recall a gallon was around 8ish dhs while petrol was around 4ish.
And yes we use to use gallons here before.
aaah ok this make sense if its 2 times more expensive no one is buying it...
but slow and noisy? My bmw was anything but slow for a 2l engine and yes they were noisy in 1985.....

I have for a while wondered why there are no diesel cars here?? As in sweden there are alot of diesels as they use less fuel and as the modern ones are as good/bad polluters as gasoline?
I was driving a BMW320D with almost 190hp and a lot of torque but could still have a consumption of 5L/100km that is not possible with gasoline, and as for off road the torque is good as far as i have read.

Just to clarify too in the manual they are not mentioned as "tie downs" but as towing hooks so they are made for recovery but are not rated.

Very good remark @Per A. I have same car and while these can be used for towing and tie-down, they are also being used for recovery, BUT in that case it would be advisable to distribute the load between the left and right towhook by using a bridle.
It mainly depends on the severity of stuck. If we see the possibility to pull from the front, then it makes more sense to do that. Luckily the factory tow points from a Pajero are quite decent and strong, but during more extreme recoveries we use safety straps to avoid the tow hook flying off in the air.
In terms of total load that they should take it is as following:
1) Tie-down point: require little strength
2) Tow point: requires more strength, but still made for on-road only in theory.
3) Recovery point. Highest rating and highest load can be applied.
We have many Pajeros in Carnity and they fully qualify to join on the drives, so no worries about that.
Thanks! found the post about the manual thats why i found the part in the manual

An old trick i learned from a mechanic friend of mine. If you have had errors that have gone away and the garage wont find anything. just ask them to clear all errors anyway, it is known the ecu will store errors but not always show them.
Thanks for the post, its some great knowledge to share that many new mechanics don't know about.

So very true, it is not only safety for the child but every one in the car. I have more than one denied rides to colleagues with kids cause i don't have a proper seat for the kids. Most of the time you hear the explanation its just a short ride or its just so close.
In sweden today its not even legal to have pets unbelted or in cage.

And i just found this in the manual??
they are tow hooks both front and rear?, not recovery points or tie downs.

I just read something interesting about the recovery points on my pajero.
The 2 front looks are recovery points but the one in the back are just tie downs and you should have a tow hitch to be able to do a rear recovery?
how do carnity groups look at this? do i need a tow hitch to qualify for front and rear recovery points?

But why? What's wrong with just cracking the window.
I dunno about others but I've probably newer used the outside air function. It always selected to recirc.
When weather is decent nowadays a cracked window does the job.
In the summertime it's too and you're just going to lower the cooling of the AC and make it work even harder.
In my old range Rover I had two cabin filters and the slots did nothing but bring in water, sand and leaves. So they were sealed shut.
Same with my new range Rover. The slot for the cabin filter is nothing but a PITA. With the drains blocked Everytime it rains the water leaking into the dash and the floor is soaked and the ECUs go haywire.
Been meaning to clear the drains and seal of the slot with some silicone. But procrastination got the better of me and now it's raining again!
Can't wait to start up the car tomorrow and see how crazy it's acting!
Mitshu did you a great favour by blocking it off in GCC spec cars. Don't mess with it!
I want the filter do be able to clean the a it a bit (will be using carbon filter) as filter is user both when recirculating and when taking outside air. The dirt and debris that get stuck in the filter should be stuck in the filter as it other will go in to the cabin.
As for the construction of the pajero water should not get there as the filter is located over the fan and fan motor and if water gets in there it will get in to the fan and ruin that.
So the basics is to reduce fumes and dust when in queues

Hi Per.
I think PMs are not possible on this site anymore. Anyway, I have stock 17s from on a 2014 Pajero and can consider changing to 18s as I am not really interested in doing offroad activities. Let me know if you're interested in an exchange.
Thanks.
Can't PM as im not cool enough user...
Can you post a pic?

According to the door sticker I can use 17 or 18.
And if someone want to trade I'm good with that. 😊
Just message me if you want to trade, mine is in new condition

Dash Camera, recommendations ideas and thoughts?
in General Discussions
Posted
I have had a few to many close calls with crazy drivers so im looking into getting a permanent, auto recording dash cam installed in the car, permanent and auto recording to reduce the risk of "im just going to get milk" and don't bring or turn on the camera.
Do any of you guys tried or using this and what are your thoughts?
Any one had any shop installed one?
