Drive report As we gathered around the dirt track everyone deflated promptly and we headed out into the dunes following the little track for part of the way and finding our desert wheels. As we reached the dunes, we had an opportunity to do some gentle side sloping and we also had the chance to discuss the nuances of ridge riding and side sloping. With everyone coping well I decided to up the ante and we found some nice dunes that challenged everyone. We also had @Junaid120120 join us after arriving a little late he had the gumption to find his way to us.. The convoy was all coping well @Jack Thomas handled his F150 extremely well as did @Jon M in his Montero. @AlexPol powered his wrangler up everything with no issues and @Hisham Masaad and @Thomas Varghese were not to be outdone and followed suit. Well done all of you, some really nice driving on display. We had a couple of refusals during this part of the drive but nothing major. As we crossed the sabka to Solar Park we were treated to the sight of locals training their falcons. I’m always mesmerised by this no matter how often I see it. We took the track for a little while before heading into to the pristine sands of Solar Park. There were some lovely low and carved ridges which were the ideal training ground for ridge riding. One by one the convoy came across, two wheels at either side, controlling their momentum and steering. It was great to see. Well done guys. As the sun was setting the wide-open dunes of Solar Park called us on to them, and so we continued. @Ammar Naji had a couple of cracking crests which we managed to dig him out of and we got the rope out too. This was a great learning experience; the art of self-recovery is very very important when we drive in the desert. You took a little convincing Ammar but with a few helpers digging in the correct place we managed to get you down off that crest. The delays meant we lost the light and our convoy had the pleasure of a little night drive, we weren’t far from the sabka , but we still had some dunes to get through. When driving at night it is very important to stay close to the car in front so that you don’t lose the track. You’ll remember next time 😉 Thanks to @Tamas Hoffmann for the second lead. @Lucky sAm I’m glad your son got to experience an OR drive and of course to @Chaitanya D for his support. These evening drives are proving to be very popular. We must do it again 😉 Until our next adventure.

Good evening fellow adventurers. I am delighted to be able to offer a short, late afternoon/evening drive in the wonderful dunes of Murquab. The hope is to head towards Solar Park. However that target is highly dependent on the convoy. We only have a few hours of light so... It would be great if we could be ready to enter the sands as close to 3:30 as possible for maximum drive time but I understand if you can't. We will be using radio channel 1 (one) My proposed convoy is as follows : Attendee Car Level Position Angela @Foxtrot Oscar Black X Expert Lead @Lucky sAm Patrol Fewbie 2nd lead @Ammar Naji Expedition Fewbie 3rd @Junaid120120 FJ Fewbie 4th @Jack Thomas @Tamas Hoffmann F150 LWB Pajero Fewbie Adv 5th CF @Jon M Montero Fewbie 7th @AlexPol Grey Wrangler Fewbie 8th @Hisham Masaad FJ Fewbie 9th @Thomas Varghese White x Fewbie 10th @Senthil Kumar Red wrangler Fewbie 11th @Chaitanya D Black x Marshal Sweep See you all tomorrow

Drive Report OH MY DAYS!! WHAT A CONVOY!! BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!! We started off with a delay to accommodate @Ilya Golubinsky and @Goutam who had been busying themselves tearing up the Iftar bowl with Gaurav on his early morning IM drive. Waiting was not an issue, I was happy to do so. @Goutam word reached us that you were having issues with your tyres and I thought you weren’t going to make it so we left at 2:30, just missing you. I’m sorry We started off on the very gentle dunes in Solar Park to warm everyone up for what lay ahead. After a small refresher on the mechanics of ridge riding and criss-crossing the convoy demonstrated beautifully the art and finesse required to tackle these skills . That we didn’t have a single stuck or refusal during that part of the drive is testament to that. Confident that the convoy was up to the challenge I headed towards the larger dunes of the area. However, we were met with temporary fences that had popped up in the past week. As I searched for a way through it became apparent that we might as well just hop on the familiar dusty track, which left @Ilya Golubinsky looking like he had seen a ghost , as the white dust thrown up by my tracks covered his topless Jeep (apologies my friend) We weren’t on the track for long, and entered the dunes once again. We passed through the technical area , dinking up and down , in and around with no issues at all before we reached the larger dunes. As we were confronted with the blazing white sands of the relatively high dunes, with hidden pockets and soft sands the convoy kept up their great driving. We took on everything this gorgeous area had to offer with only a couple of refusals and one crested vehicle. Which is to be expected when we face such challenges in the desert and with a convoy of mostly long wheelbase 4x4s. @Thomas Varghese car was feeling a little hot and bothered so we stopped for 5 mins to let it cool down, applying water spray to help it on its way. It seemed to do the drink. We reached the target area of the other side of Faqa with its huge long dunes and track free sands. In fact the only tracks we could see were the ones I had made on my recce drive the week before. Unfortunately for @Ali Abas one of his passengers was feeling nauseous. I looked for somewhere for him to exit and led him to the road. That was a pity @Ali Abas as you were driving well. I asked the rest of the convoy if they wanted to keep going and I was delighted when they all said yes. This area is heavenly, the dunes are literally begging for you to cut across them and that’s what we did. I was astounded by how well @Thomas Varghese drove on this his first fewbie + drive. Well done my friend, you did amazing. Thank you @Ilya Golubinsky for the great job as second lead, especially as we were ridge riding, some of those dunes had nasty bumps and you followed my instructions to exit early perfectly. @GauravSoni you continue to develop at an excellent rate and had a fine drive . Of course thank you @Pancho for being my sweep and keeping an aye on everything at the back. Once again, thank you all for your excellent driving, always cautious, never blasé and ensuring we all had incredible fun! We covered just over 87km in 4hours with only 22mins of stopping time. BOOM! Now that’s a drive!
