  1. I think @Frederic and @Emmanuel are being too kind with their words. Truth is, i was not in my element on this day (for some reason which i am still trying to figure out). I kept making elementary mistakes due to which i had a couple of stucks which just goes to showing that I still have a long way to go before i get really good at this stuff. The first hour or so was quite smooth as the 3 of us were moving along quite well but then I had this nasty stuck where i was on an incline. At this point, @Emmanuel and @Frederic were both giving me guidance on recovery and just out of the blue, to make things worse, i get a 'check engine' warning and my throttle cuts off Got the batteries disconnected and reconnected and we were back on track but after this particular incident, things werent going my way as i kept getting stuck every now and then. @Frederic said it was maybe the muddy sand, @Emmanuel said, its perhaps the high tire pressure, but I know that i was hesitating a bit with the gas. Although, I am no stranger to intermediate drives, I know the only way for me to get comfy in this level is to keep driving in this level frequently and eventually I will get there. I want to give a big shout out to @Frederic and @Emmanuel, thank you guys for your guidance and patience with me.
  2. Thank you all for your valuable feedback. I'll get myself the good old manual hydraulic jack then. As most you have very rightly pointed out - electric and sand is a bad mix and I didn't think about that.
  3. Hi, Since I have been assisting newbies with recoveries in the off road drives off late, I realized its time I got myself a jack besides the stock jack that comes in my car. @Srikumar has also pointed out that its better if I get a good jack to help out with recoveries. I have noticed all the seniors use the standard hydraulic jack which is very convenient and gets the job done all the time. However, when I was looking around, i did come across a few electrical options and I was wondering how these would fare against the classic hydraulic jack that we all use. Two models in particular have caught my eye (ill include the picture and description below) but if any of you could share your experiences with me on this, that would be great as I am not sure if these newer electric options will stand the test of time, as in, will they last or would they stop working over a period of time. 1) The first is an - Automotive Electric Hydraulic Floor Jack 12V DC 3T with Electric Impact Wrench 4 in 1 Electric Car Jack Tool Kit with LED lamp I have seen a bunch of video ads for these and they seem fairly simple to setup. 2) And the next is an electric scissor jack The price for both of these are a bit higher than the standard hydraulic jack but then again, they provide a convenience of lifting the car with a lot more ease. They both come with cigarette lighter wires and crocodile clips to connect to the battery. If anyone has had any experience with these jacks or even other types of jacks, your feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
  4. That is why i mentioned - just a small correction on this part of the trip report. Rahim bhai did mention that we all contributed towards the end of the report but just see below sentences from that particular paragraph: 1. Both of them worked tirelessly to get the FJ safe to drive out. 2. @Srikumar took over and again with the help of @Halit Mert Issever got the whole thing sorted and we were headed out. Above statements when read by a person who wasn't present on the scene, would think, only 2 members did all the work which is not correct and that is what I am trying to highlight here.
  5. @Rahimdad bhai - just a small correction on this part of the trip report. I believe the entire team put in their efforts and contributed in some shape or form in the recovery of the FJ. Not taking away the merit and appreciation for Sri and Mert in anyway but I just thought this had to be mentioned.
  6. Agree 200 percent with @Srikumar and @Rahimdad bhai. This promotion is very well deserved; you came through in the situation last week as a strapping team player by helping out with the recovery process in various capacities. Kudos to your new rank!
  7. hi all, sorry but i will have to cancel my participation from this drive as a last minute change has come up and my kid needs to be with me, so since i will have to bring him along for the drive, i will join the newbie drive
  8. Thank you so much for your kind words @Frederic. Your warm demeanor and your quick wit coupled with your selfless attitude to jump in and help people is note worthy. You are a real inspiration and thank you for all your support and guidance. Looking forward to many more adventurous and fun filled drives with you and the rest of the gang. Thank you @Xaf
  9. Not xterraian @Emmanuel. Let’s call ourselves the X-Men!! 😎 Thanks @Srikumar. That incident only shattered my windscreen, not my spirits 💪. The sand bug has bitten me hard and I hope I stick to this hobby for a long long time!
  10. Wow. This is awesome news. Here’s a big shout out to all the carnity seniors who have been patient in teaching me and guiding me to this achievement. @Gauravbhai, @Rahimdadbhai, @Emmanuel, @Srikumar and @Frederic I will keep practicing and pushing myself in the safest way possible and I hope I can eventually become a senior off-roader like all of you guys someday whereby I can pass the torch on to up and coming newbie drivers. https://giphy.com/gifs/3NtY188QaxDdC
  11. With the weather looking up these days, experiencing the chill temperatures, early morning was a great way to start off the day. Added to that, meeting up with a lovely group of like minded off-roaders is just an icing on the cake. @Srikumar assigned me to the sweep position and I had the incredibly rare opportunity of having @Gauravbhai accompany me as a passenger. With this mix, the day just couldn't have been better. I am just about getting acquainted with sweep duties and it is definitely a great way to be a more responsible offroader and watching @Gauravbhai in action was a delightful and educative experience indeed. The banter I shared with @Gaurav bhai was invaluable and i hope we can roll again sometime. All in all, this was yet again, an action packed and fun filled drive to say the least. Ill try and put up a video tonight.
  12. You said last part of the route is like Faqaa right. What’s carnitys policy on exiting the drive just before the end? 🥶
  13. Yea true story. This was the dune I got stuck on and I stood there with a whip and slave drove @Srikumar and Javier until they shoveled down this “entire dune” until the car came down to ground level.
  14. What went wrong here? And what could have been done to avoid the mishap? IMG_9365.MP4
  15. shoveling 😗? i suddenly sense a fever coming along this weekend and resting at home 😰
  16. i call shot gun on @Gaurav bhai being my passenger 😎...it would be my sincere pleasure bhai if you could sit with me and give me a more in depth analysis/feedback on my driving
  17. Thank you @Srikumar. This was a special drive for me indeed whereby i was really able to challenge myself whilst having heaps of fun. As very rightly pointed, I was a bit on the edge, at the beginning since I dont do fast paced drives regularly but about half way into the drive, after @Srikumar and @Javier M very rightly pointed out that i could do with a a reduction in tire pressure, i was then able to really push and drive better. All in all, this drive was unforgettable for me as i feel i have taken away some new skills. A big shout out to @Srikumar for the fantastic lead and to @Javier M who guided me at some sticky spots.
