  1. Very much looking forward to my 1st drive in Nahel @JeromeFJ See you in the morning!
  2. Thanks @Frederic and @Giacomo for the advise, give me 1 year to share the results
  3. Good morning Carnity, Need some advise on applying a round of "selfcare rustproofing" on my 2018 Prado (DIY job) as I have already gone down the road of rustproofing the chassis with an offroad garage approx. a year ago, however recently noticed a few rust spots are reappearing. Do note that I wash the car and chassis on a regular basis especially if I was doing anything close the the beach, am I being realistic with trying a round of DIY by applying and using a combination of a rust remover, wire brush, sandpaper and finally applying a chassis undercoating paint? I found Rust-Oleum products online and leaning towards using their rust remover and prograde undercoat products. Would love some input if anyone has been successful in this approach? (I suspect I would probably need to do it it 2-3 times a year as spots appear). Thanks,
  4. Thanks @Davie Smooth_Operator for a great drive and tweaking the intensity as the convoy was gaining confidence under your lead, for me it was a good mix of newbie, newbie+ and a little fewbie! I enjoyed seeing some old friends and exploring a new area which was exciting, fun and one of the best parts of the drive! Just a pity the convoy got to miss the entertainment at the back, it sounded like loads of fun over the radio... Looking forward to driving behind the red jeep again!
  5. Thanks @Frederic!!! Should be fun as always! See you in the morning!
  6. Thanks Chris! So it does have an overheating cut off which must have kicked in. Thanks
  7. Thanks @Gaurav, Jessy enjoyed her 1st carnity drive! Pink Rock remains one of my favourite areas to drive!
  8. This question goes to all the ARB specialists, after today's drive a fellow driver inflated 3 tires with an ARB single portable compressor, on the 4th tire it cut out... we checked the fuse, no issues found so we let it rest for 90sec after which it worked for 1min and cut out again. Am I assuming correctly that it had some kind of internal temperature regulator cut off? Any hacks how to manage this during inflation to avoid overheating?
  9. Thanks @Gaurav! See you tomorrow! Hi @DP1011, been a long time, would have loved to do a FB in Pink Rock with you - however taking my little one for her 1st Carnity drive with Gaurav and the NB convey. Have fun!
  10. Good afternoon @Gaurav, please remind me of the kids policy? My 5 year old/ almost 6, is a regular offroader/ camper who wants to join her 1st Carnity drive... she has been up pink rock and and have a few request - camels must be spotted along the way..., drive up pink rock "very fast" ... for my own sanity I will keep her with the Mrs. in the back.
  11. @Frederic unfortunately new to pull out, car is in the garage until next week! Grrr what a bumper to have AC issues this time of the year with the great weather!
  12. Hi @Zubail, it was fantastic, did a beach camp, we were very fortunate to have a very nice breeze the whole evening with little humidity and of course regularly in and out the water to keep cool - with an early departure... The desert is still to hot for me for an overnight especially with kids, next would be to try one of the wadi's... (will try the desert before the end of the month though... )
  13. @Frederic, exiting the drive and will attempt an overnight camping instead - perhaps a bit early... See you next time. PS: another scenic drive will be amazing... 😉
  14. Team Carnity! Would love some input in regards to my suspension, tires and rims selection: (Project summer build...) I took the advise of the seniors and have kept my suspension stock for as long as I can, however now find myself in a different scenario than most as my offroading journey has evolved into more of a camper, overlander and exploring the great outdoors of the UAE - thank you @Carnity for opening this world to me!!! In doing that I find that the stock suspension after 2+ years is now starting to struggle handling the specifically the weight/ and greater loads with all the gear required - its sagging at the back... (yes, I am a very heavy more gear required traveller ) - a quick look at the below pic of the packed roof rack along with the entire rear cargo area filled up and you can understand why. In short, the plan would be to upgrade the suspension specifically to carry the heavier loads - I don't necessarily need a lift for the purpose of dune bashing as I don't drive above fewbie and don't have an aspiration to do that, main purpose is to safely carry heavier loads (maybe I just change the 4 coils?). Along with that, a better load carrying capacity tire would be a good option - something like the good old trusted BFG K02, or perhaps something else vs the current Geolander GO15. The rims, I am still 50/50 - the stock size is currently 18inches, dropping to a 17inch rim would immediately give me a higher/ bigger side wall and possibly going one sidewall size above stock - @Rob S Prado post was VERY helpful to understand the options here. From my research I understand the trade offs vs on-road comfort - and most of the other pros and cons as I have been planning this project for a while, and I have been driving a few friends car which has been modified to have a better understanding - luckily I have a short drive to the office. What would you guys recommended or do? I don't want to throw silly money at the changes - I would be more conservative... so no KINGS shocks with remote RES.
  15. @Matt - monkeywrench, I would recommend dropping by dragon mart for this, my light and battery setup has lasted me close to 3 years now - ask for a interchangeable yellow light, think I paid a extra 20-30aed for this.
  16. WOW she is beauty, Not a Pajero guy.... but you definitely made me think twice! @Mike M.
  17. Sorry @Frederic but need to jump out - a quick last camp opportunity came up which I cant say no too. I really love these scenic drives, so please keep it on the drive calendars
  18. Thanks Frederic, got both radio models now so can compare the 5R vs 9R will let you know my take on the range findings...
  19. Thanks @Frederic and @Ishak for the advise, will pick up one of each and do a bot of range testing. @Frederic, please do share the hack for the 5R?
  20. On the hunt for a new radio, the 4 year old mechanic in our house got hold of my UV-5R and now its UV-Nothing... Anyway, any recommendation on the UV-9R which claims to have a better range? - is it worth the extra 20aed? - got quoted 120aed for the 9R vs 100aed for the 5R at DM of course.
  21. Dropping out, not feeling well unfortunately. Enjoy! the scenic drives they are one of my favourites drive... add more @Frederic
