  1. for other old people in this thread: there is another way... and I would love to try this in conjunction with some big-ass compressor to fit just behind the wheel too... The thread is here. If I ever decided to change tyres offset, I would go with this approach (albeit not as extreme as this one).
  2. @OffroadPAJ, I know this doesn't answer your question, but why don't you keep the stock rim as spare and maintain the whole thing as is? I mean - it's for emergency only, so... why not? I wouldn't want to install any half-done products if these were not the best quality and stock look is somehow the most clean you can get on this car...
  3. When I was looking for an off-road toy, I was actually considering one of these super safaris... considering the new had been 170k in 2017, now I would have to pay over 120k for a car with over 100k desert miles... This car is not loosing any value and this is something I don't understand. But I gave up at that time stage. Now I'm in the market for another offroader and I still go and check every now and then Super Safaris... just to remind myself why I don't want to buy one - owners ask arm and leg for a car that is basically a piece of junk on four wheels, that doesn't even go straight and has visual signs of abuse (one I checked had signs of welding done on the frame, despite the 100% original body paint - that's how badly abused some are). I'm sure if you post it online, you will be able to sell it within hours. If you removed all modifications and not advertise it on carnity site, you would probably have it sold within an hour from when you posted it All the best with the car - looks good on photos!
  4. Since I don't live "on" the palm, but in some poor-peoples-away-from-the-sea areas, I'll skip on this service and continue to believe it's not something that 99,9% of cars in Dubai really need...
  5. I wish lighting conditions were a bit better today for photos, but the sun was hiding behind clouds for almost all the drive today: @Renier Venter @Ahmed Farouk Pajero Power! @lucas amat Sparkling blue @Shiju Raju The whole fellowship when the sun was finally out: And the might Gladiator @Robk
  6. not trying to undermine the value of this service in any way... but why? I can show you how a 14yo pajero's underbody looks when zero protection is done (basically it still looks like new thanks to the weather in here) or a 7yo merc parked in Dubai for the past 3 years... again: zero traces of rust, both cars look brand new when you look under. I can also show you a 5yo european import that went through 3 seasons of winter in Europe and got rust proofed right after purchase - it looks like crap... I am trying to understand why is this service so popular here, where there is no salt and snow on the roads in the winter. Why are we saying that Dubai's weather is so bad for the underbody of cars "living" in here?
  7. I'll stir the pot a little bit (yeah, I'm ocd here, so apologies for bringing in the numbers) 36 refuels since Sept last year, small tank (SWB), 3.8L tuned gently for 98 fuel, HT geolandars 039s (because desert only, no overlanding), max on the tank ever: 349km (topped up with 55.73L, must have been very dry), average on tank 246km, average fuel consumption since I got the car 10kkm ago -> 18.1L/100km or 5.5km/l. Max consumption ever noted - during liwa yellow truck drive: 108 km in-between gas stops, topping up 44.2l (41.01l/100km or 2.4kmpl). And I didn't touch lo gear during that drive... I know it can do more My driving style: hwy + desert only. The car is meant for weekend drives. Software upgrades make it much more edgy and pleasant to drive on the highway with negligible result on the consumption. The car is perfectly capable of getting high 12s per 100km (or more than 8kmpl) when you cruise 100-110 and don't touch the pedal, but this rarely happens when it's meant for the desert. The only car I ever got that came close to these numbers was S63 6.2L... but this was a long distance rocket ship and was used as one. Nonetheless I closed the first year of ownership with 16.5l/100km or 6.06kmpl (over distance of 17kkm) and I thought that was a lot.
  8. thanks @Ale Vallecchi for accepting me from the wait-list, but I have to pull back - I though I could skip half a day at work but this time it won't be possible... see you next time!
  9. I wish we had some more time to shot some photos - we had 2x 392s in the convoy, and this is not only rare, but such a wasted opportunity for good pictures Nearly 45km of short dunes, driven mainly in 1st to 2nd gear. @Ale Vallecchi, thank you for super technical drive and a lot of fun. I can feel my hand muscles today, which means there was a lot of steering wheel action. And it counts. Also - the way you dug yourself out reversing from that trench - from where I was standing it defied the laws of gravity. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I would not believe it's even possible without pulling or winching you out. I think it's time for me to change my nickname - ever since I joined, I am always in a third position, so I don't get to make any good rolling shots from there... there is little action going on between the first and second lead. Sometimes this: But from where I am, it's usually only that: We have finished during golden hour, participating in a social event with karak and lots of music: I hope everybody had as much fun as I did! @Julien Recan your jeep was parked in the perfect spot to catch these last sunset rays. My custom-built bashing plate, designed not to look like a barn door - took the beating well and exceeded my expectations. Now time for a winch upgrade @Patrick van der Loo ?
  10. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi, I'll join the afternoon drive instead of the morning one this time.
  11. I love the energy! +12oC in the morning and nobody complained! I took a few shots of your cars, I hope you don't mind if I pasted them here (the gallery is maxed out with compression making pictures look so flat). @Abhilash Kottakkal in his Pajero Montero Sport (say what you want, we all know it's a Pajero underneath and that's why it looks so good on the dune!) The quietest and the smoothest of them all - 407 horses of driving pleasure @essam ibrahim @Frederic, I had to google to figure out the car you had... congrats on the rare piece of automotive legend! @Julien Recan flooring to make it count! My wife said it looked like an RC car from the distance. Awesome ride @Rafey Hashmi, congrats on your first popout on this car! @Benjamin reaching the top of the peak: The White Rhino: @Mike M. And the mighty 392, doing it so effortlessly... @Gautam Banka @Simon D I have a new profile picture for you Thanks again for the drive! See you next time!
  12. you forgot to add Pajero's OEM big-red-always-leaking-jack-of misery to the list... the nasty red surprise in the trunk of every Pajero. If older than 5 years, it's 99% shot and will cause a really messy wonder for every one who wants to replace the wheel in a hurry. Also, one cool thing I learnt about Pajeros lately: each control arm has pre-forged spaces on the bottom side where this jack comes in and locks into position. Very handy. Totally irrelevant to the state of lift on this car... Check your jacks, Pajero owners. There were five of us that day, white horses of the apocalypse. We needed to use Bronco's jack to fix a double blow-out of one of our fallen Pajero friends.
  13. Just wanted to point out that for some reason @JohanE was always there parked with engine off by the time I managed to pull out my camera, so this one is one of the very few shots I got of his JL still moving!
  14. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/1927-fewbie-liwa-yellow-truck-abu-dhabi-7-jan-2024/ full gallery. vb compresses the pics a lot, so the quality is not as good as I would want it - if you want higher res / less compressed version of any of these pics - send me @ on fromcarnity (at) msmdemo (dot) com Next time we need to make more of these: Or these: I could also point out that the newbie briefing should underline the importance of closing your windows during tricky situations like this @Joseph Raju I can only imagine amount of sand in your car after this approach!
  15. ah... and the cutoff sound when it was nearing the top of the dune....
  16. @Asif Hussain and @Aser in a soft patch.
  17. @Rk ram I caught that bump on camera during your first attempt... hope everything is fine, but it did sound really unpleasant...
  18. @Asif Hussain, the man who led us there!
  19. @Asif Hussain - a friend asked if that was an aerial shot!
  20. @Rk ram I can't get enough of these ridge riding shots...
  21. @Rk ram sir, what you pulled off on that ridge - twice! RESPECT! It looked almost as if you were trying to jump over to the other side. Well done!
  22. @PAJERO petelczyc luke looks like he was trying to use the force here to push @Aser back a little bit. Whatever Jedi sorcery he used - it worked.
  23. @Julien Recan more of your handsome JL!
