  1. Hi All, Having moved up from Newbie I've discovered that Fewbie is 1) a lot of fun and 2) significantly more likely to bend your vehicle! I've decided to keep my nice clean Pajero stock for the road or gentle stuff, and over the summer when I have time find something more off-road specific. Of course, having decided this, on my last drive I managed to bust the fibreglass splash guard under the engine (looks like the pic). Does anybody have any recommendations for a reliable place to get a replacement? Or if someone has one in the garage they replaced with a bash plate and are happy to sell? Thanks!
  2. Hi everybody, we ended up on a detour of a farm Road and deep sand. Had to deflate to do a self-recovery, I'm reinflating but will be about 20 minutes late. Late. Apologies! Hope you can wait 055 1355 868 if you need to call me
  3. Same question - title says Fewbie, but the details "Fewbie Plus and above (all levels)". Hoping it's Fewbie!
  4. Thanks everyone! I'm away a couple weekends now but will be out on my first Fewbie drive as soon as I'm back!
  5. Hi Everyone, Very much looking forward to tomorrow's drive. May I request that we do not use channel 3 on the radios, something in my car interferes with channel 3. Thanks!
  6. Hi All, Really enjoyed my first Newbie drive! Huge thanks to @M.Seidam for his great leadership and for looking after us so well. Also thanks to @Jose Luis Campos and @Nathan for all their helpful advice. I'll be away for a couple weekend now, but will be making every drive I can after that!
  7. Hi, Looking forward to this big time. Gaurav had me at 16 PSI to start then we moved to 14. I'll take your instruction, but just FYI. I have three gauges (digital + analogue) and they read a 2 PSI variance, so I'm not sure how accurate these things are. See you tomorrow!
  8. Hi and thanks for the welcome! 1. I have done the Desert Driving Masterclass with Gaurav about a month ago and on Friday morning a friend and I have another morning driving again with Gaurav. So only a few hours experience, in short I'm a complete beginner. 2. 2018 Pajero 3.8L, completely stock and on road tyres (Gaurav told me that they would be fine to start) 3. Standard Pajero two points on the front and a bar with a centre point on the rear. The bar is rated to 5,000KG, Jay from Machine Head 4*4 looked at it for me while I was there getting a flag mount made, he said it was good for the job 4. In terms of kit; I have a flag on a rear mount, a radio programmed to the club channels (if I've done if correctly!), chucks / valve spanners for deflation, a compressor, fire extinguisher and a full size shovel (I got plenty shovelling practice with Gaurav!). This is all in a box strapped down in the back. What I don't yet have is a tow rope and shackles, but I checked on the chat last week and understand that this isn't needed for a newbie drive. Very happy to answer any other questions, looking forward to my first club drive.
  9. Hi Everyone - QQ please... The Essential Off-Road Gear post says that a rope and shackles is for Intermediate and above, but it is listed as mandatory here. Is this needed for a Newbie drive? Thanks! https://carnity.com/advice/offroad/essential-off-road-gear-r131 PS - Double booked this Saturday, but intend to attend from the next one onwards!
  10. Thanks @Marek very sound advice. Looks like the steel bar is the way to go. I'll try and get one this weekend, as hoping to get a drive in ASAP!
  11. Thanks @Luke K P I'm sure that that would be fine as I can just unbolt it if needed. I'll message you on Instagram (which is something I've never done before, so if you don't get it let me know!).
  12. Thanks @Frederic for the links, I will dig into the Compressor Review. I've bought all the Newbie kit in the Essential Off-Road Gear list except the compressor (which I'll now do) and the flag (as I've not worked out how to attach it yet!). Also thanks @Aadi I'll check into the ViAir440p. Hoping to be on the sand on the next Newbie drive!
  13. Hi All, Learning how the forums work as I'm new here, so copying across a post I put on the general off-road group to this group. Any advice much appreciated.... I have bought a 2018 Pajero and am looking to get the off-road basics so I can start joining drives. I saw a mount shaped to the Pajero bars on a FB group (see pictures). Any idea where I can get one of these? Google searches failed me. If not, open to other ideas of how to fit a flag but ideally don't want to modify the vehicle yet. Suction types tend to get poor reviews as far as I can tell, thus the idea of attaching to the bars. Thanks everyone!
  14. Thanks for the welcome everyone and thanks Andrew, I shall investigate that thread.
