  1. Hi Jackson, welcome to the group, are you using the hand brake during the night as my first thought if it only happens in the morning is the hand brake is sticking on. could also be a gear box problem i.e. when the gear oil is cold it is thicker than when hot, you may need to check the oil quality and level, this can only be done in a garage really. the only other problem i can think of is an auto choke / MAS problem. Questions: does it happen at any other time, has it just started recently (i.e. last couple of weeks since the colder weather)? are you using more petrol than normal? is the engine idleing correctly with AC on and AC off? is the vehicle parked on a gradiant / hill / slope / half on and off the curb during the night? when was the last service? how many KM on the car now if you can anser these questions it will help me narrow down the most lickly cause.
  2. it could also be fuel, this is easy to check....Light a match and throw it in the wet patch, if you burn your eye brows off and the car catched fire you will know it was fuel. failing that take it to a garage.
  3. you're most welcome Massimo, now with the money you saved go and by a tent and bring the disco off road this weekend camping, this is where the landy feels at home, in the mountain, there will be a couple of landies going and family. give me a call if your fancy it 0501703053
  4. you say Disc but i think you are talking about your wheel, if so then its lickly to need wheel balance go to any good tire shop and ask for balance
  5. yes the 265 is fine without re gearing but will rub a little without a lift
  6. you talking about AC compressor? it will fail every couple of years on average, if its failing more than that you have a problem poss with electics, also if you want it to last longer always turn it off before you switch off the engine and turn it on after a few seconds of re starting the engine, in short never start the engine with the AC switched on.
  7. Also could have saved 15AED on stop leak by just cracking a egg into the rad, it does exactly the same thing, Egg white by its self is best (must be runny uncooked when you put it in.
  8. Hi VCO, i run Cooper 265/75R16 on my disco 2 with a 2" lift and no touching, i run BFG 285/75R16 on my disco 1 with 2" lift + camel cut + rear door cut + 4.10 re gearing both options work well
  9. they could have knocked a Lead off when they fitted the starter, or maybe an earthing problem, could also be MAF sensor as a common failure on the disco, dont take it to Al Tayer they will charge you 000,000,000,000 take it to A 2 B or AAA workshops much better prices
  10. that will only work for so long and if you start lossing water again and you dont notice and cook the heads you'll be needing a new engine as well, better to get it fixed, call Gulf Stars in Sharjah for a price
  11. sorry but it could be just about anything, a zzzzzzz noize could also be a heat shield touching the exhaust or the body or about 1000 other things, i would need to hear it as its impossible to describe a noise
  12. you have to take half of the front of the engine apart, in short you cant, take it to a garage and change it as the hard expensive work of checking is already done
  13. Idel control valve quite possibly you dont feel it as much in D as there is load on the engine from the gearbox and lower RPM.
  14. Sorry to hear that, I could have told you not to buy from 4x4 motors though, most expats either know or unfortunately find that out
  15. you could try Sharjah but i dont know anywhere in particular, also try Gulf stars they sell landrover parts, if both fail check both ebay.com (USA) and ebay.co.uk (UK) and see if you can find one on there. good luck. PS what colour just incase i came across one.
  16. try either AAA workshop or A to B workshop, both are good with Landrover and would do it correctly and quicker than a normal back street workshop that likely to mess it up. check for details of both workshop in google.
  17. The timing belt on most cars should be done at 60,000 miles / 100,000KM unless it has a timing chain then never.
  18. yes if you either have lots of money or they are worn out, No if you dont have money to waste and they are not over 60% worn.
  19. Morning Khudooma, the 3.5 V8 will use around the same amount of fuel as the older patrol, (change the engine) i would change a 3.5 V8 with either a 3.9 from Disco 1 or 4.6 from Classic Range rover, more power and torque. the Puma engine from the Ford transit is the best but hard to find, to make it great it has to be chipped but not expensive to do and parts available on the net. if you are only going to use in the Middle east then the Petrol is nice but for reliability the diesel wins + you can take it anywhere in the world, the petrol for example would cost too much to run in most other countries. have fun and keep looking, from time to time a good one comes up in the market, if in a rush look at importing one from Europe. if your looking for a great desert and moutain ready car for just under 40K give me a shout as i may have to sell my modified 2003 discovery 2 due to a move coming up, its not a defender but it will go everywhere and alot more comfortable than a defender would ever be. + much cheaper if your saw it you would buy it.
  20. the gas struts are either missing or worn out, go to Gulf Star in Sharjah they sell landy parts (new) cheap, in the UK these Struts are only around 15 GBP each
  21. depends on what you want the defender for, if for desert only then the petrol has slightly more power but drinks fuel like crazy, most of the petrol ones you will find will be the old 3.5 V8, you could change it but it will cost. if i was going to buy a defender i would look for one with a Puma engine, these are the best of both worlds but hard to find
  22. sorry but if you're asking such basic questions i recomend you take it to a workshop, anyworkshop would be able to fix.
  23. Couple of possibilities, if you have washed it recently then it could be a door seal or sunroof seal, if not related to washing it then your heater matrix is leaking and needs to be replaced which is a big job and can be expensive, if your not bothered about the heater working then the water pipes under the hood can be disconnected and you will have no more problems
  24. The standard air suspension is fine for all of what you are likly to do in that car, if you want to see just how good your car already is I will take you off roading.
