  1. it sounds like the head gasket has gone, get it into a workshop quickly before you do any damage to the cylinder heads
  2. depends on year and engine you have + is it auto or manual, in general its not great for sand but a few small changes can make it very good, best person to contact on this forum in G
  3. Check that you haven’t accidently turned the dimmer switch down, depending on which RR you have is where it is, check the user manual
  4. if your asking this question then the answer is yes! if you could fix it your self you would have already taken the rear door cover off and had a look inside to see what has broken / come loose, take it to A to B in sharjah or Tripple A (AAA) in Dubai
  5. one more thing G forgot to add, the transmission on the disco must be checked with the engine running and the gear in park be carfull though!
  6. it could be many things! is the engine temp increasing? is the first question
  7. yes but you need to spend a fair bit of money as lots need to be changed + disco 2 headlights are expensive, i do have a solution though. these are genuine land rover clear light protectors which cover the light and turn signal to make it look more like one piece, these are not the black plastic stone protectors but the clear plastic wrap around, still new in the box never used 300aed. 0561703053.
  8. to keep it short: If I’m not too bothered about going off road but want a nice car there the RR or RRS is a great choice, be careful buying either, need to be professionally checked inside and out, look out for USA imports (much cheaper but devalue more than a house on the palms Nissan Armarda is a big beast if the wife fancies a large one, No pun intended! Can go off road but will lose the front bumper quickly or at least the bottom of it but plenty of space and big V8 power. Toy-mota foreskin i wouldn’t bother for the reasons you have already mentioned (although they do go off road) HUMMER H2, now that’s one I like but ageing now and surprisingly not that great off road either (in Sand) but does scare everyone else on the road also surprisingly not that great in an accident (they just look strong) I still think that either the LR3, RR or RRS would be a good sound choice and as others have said there are cheaper parts available from Sharjah and also A2B or AAA workshops
  9. if its the 110 then sell it to me as fuel not important are you running the 3.9 V8 or the 4.0 ?
  10. i would run them at 35psi front and rear and 32 in the top summer months as the heat will inflate them more. these are cold pressures. so check first thing in the morning before driving
  11. couple of questions: are you also changing the oil filter? What are these impurities, it could well be water which means your head gasket is on the way out? also which oil make and grade are you using?
  12. @CJMCG, LR4 is overpriced hence not many around yet, locals pay the extra and go for the RR. Evoque may do well but engine a bit small for here, LR3 is good option, plenty around at reasonable prices, try and find Expat owned direct from owner and not car showroom (in fact don't buy anything from used car showrooms here) American 4x4 not recommended, not that great off road, boring to drive (wife will not like) Pajero an OK car but too many around (I have one as company car ) Toyota you can’t go wrong but again look very closely at who owned it and poss. of millage roll back, Land Rover is a great car to own but parts tend to be a bit expensive, don't go with X5 as cant do off road, Nissan Xterra is a good option and reliable try and get off road edition, don’t touch ford exploder no matter how cheap, FJ a nice car but visibility is very bad when driving, VW touareg is not too bad but not great off road, give me a shout when you are ready to buy and I will try and help you (ex Aftersales director so I know cars quite well)
  13. live with it G, i just switch off open and switch on again, not ideal especially when kids are in the middle of watching a movie but one of them lovely LR quirks
  14. Hi, you have to let the tires down to get the traction you require, i tend to drive mine on sand with around 12 psi in normal driving mode, forget the sand mode it realy doesn't help, use the gears manualy rather than in auto and try and stay in high range as much as possible as low range will in most cases just spin the wheels, to keep the tires on the rim try not to turn to steeply as this is when the tire will come off, other than that never ever ever go in the desert alone in just one car and make sure you take a snatch strap or minimum of a good quality tow rope with you + loads of water. have fun.
  15. The heater not working could be that the pipes were disconnected by previous owner due to water leakage from the heater matrix up under the dash board or could be as you suspect a blocked cooling system, be very careful not to run the engine too hot as these are alloy heads and you will blow the head gasket quicker than you can blink, the overheating can also be the cause of a blown head gasket, if in any doubt take it to triple A (AAA) no I don’t work for them I just use them for my repair work as they understand land rovers better than anyone else in Dubai. Hope this helps
  16. Providing they have all been fitted correctly and the sensor wire replaced and plugged in + the brake fluid level is correct and sensor on the lid is correctly plugged in then the warning light will go out by itself after driving for a little while and braking a few times (don’t brake too hard for the first 100km though as you need the new brakes to bed in), if that doesn’t work disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the ECU, if that doesn’t work then re check all the sensor wires to ensure they are connected, if that doesn’t work then take it to triple A (AAA) workshop and they will find the fault and fix it. Good luck.
  17. do Exactly as Iroc has told you then come back with your findings.
  18. For off roading the most recommended is 265/75-16 BF Goodrich All Terrain (AT) is excellent and not to noisy, you will require a 2" lift for these to fit though. the 265/70-16 recommended earlier is more a road tire due to shorter side wall, the calculation used is correct but the added height (Clearance would be the diff between the two tires sizes divided by 2. i.e. 1.67 / 2 = .84 of an inch extra clearance. as previously advised as well you will get trouble with the tire hitting the rear wheel arch, less so with a 2" lift but still possible. I hope this information helps. Road tire pressure should be 35psi cold when loaded and off road (sand) anything between 20 and 10psi, the lower the pressure the more traction on sand but the easier it is to have a pop out (tire coming off the rim)
  19. Yes, most likely is your power steering pump has failed, it will need an overhaul by land rover of triple A (AAA) or a good garage like that or a used steering rack from Sharjah (but may have the same problem and hard to find) or a new one from Land rover or cheaper Gulf Stars Auto Spare Parts Est. - 05333596 in Sharjah good luck
  20. Hi Massismo, you must be in an LR3 or LR4? as Disco 1 and 2 did not have it. it could be few things but most lickly are low battery (problem on LR3 lots of weird things happen when the battry starts to die) or bad earth, thats if the two are related, how old is the vehicle and how many KM
  21. what you are decribing sound like it is caused through weak shock absorbers which for that age of vehicle is most lickly, replace them with Old Man Emu from ARB in AbDhabi
