Drive Summary. After a few months away, this was my first drive back after the crash — and it felt very good to be back behind the wheel and in the dunes again. The original plan was a nice, easy Fewbie night drive. Nothing too ambitious, just a chance to get back into the rhythm of desert driving. That plan lasted until we reached the long-range dunes, where we decided to turn things up a notch. From there, it was ridge riding non-stop. We found some fantastic long ridges and managed to keep the convoy moving with very few interruptions. As @Asif Hussain put it, we had “amazing flow — smooth as butter.” It was one of those drives where everything just seemed to come together. The night also delivered plenty of desert wildlife. Along the way we spotted mice, rabbits and several scorpions, adding a bit of nighttime wildlife watching between the ridges. By the end of the drive we'd covered around 40 km in 2 hours 30 minutes, which gives a pretty good indication of just how well the convoy was flowing. We finished with a relaxed 20-minute chat over iced lattes and popcorn — not a bad way to wrap up my first drive back. A drive that was supposed to be an easy return to the sand ended up being considerably more energetic than planned, but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Great ridges, great flow, great company — and very good to be back. Thanks @Asif Hussain and @Giacomo for the excellent drive, let's do it again soon!

Hi @Asif Hussain & @Giacomo Hope you are looking forward to an easy paced night drive tonight. Should be a very nice looking cresent moon hanging above us to enjoy whilst exploring Fayah. @JC_E might join us as well. I was out there last night and the temps are dropping to a nice level by the time we expect to finish, which will be perfect for a quick coffee or tea break. See you there tonight!

DRIVE DESCRIPTION Nestled in the heart of Dubai’s desert, Al Qudra offers a perfect mix of terrain for an exciting offroad adventure. We’ll kick off with a short sabkha drive and enter our first set of dunes near Three Trees. We'll head north-east and then take a break on a sabkha. Expect to be challenged where focus, skill, and patience will be the order of this part of the drive. Then onwards to the flowing Qudra Secret Dunes that allow for smooth cruising. Expect a dynamic route with plenty of opportunities to practice side-sloping, short hill climbs, and dune crossings, all while maintaining a steady, enjoyable pace. ⚠️ IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND COMPLY Environmental Policy Off-road Flag Guideline Two Way Radio Guideline Off road Driving Etiquette's Emergency details for all off-roaders Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities Safety Protocols During Emergency Alert 🚙 JOINING OUR CLUB FOR THE FIRST TIME? DRIVE DESCRIPTION This drive is all about understanding the difference between Speed and Momentum and learning why more speed isn't always the answer. We will work on carrying the right momentum through the terrain, maintaining smooth and controlled inputs and choosing the right line rather than simply relying on the accelerator. Throughout the drive, we will look at when a little extra speed is useful, when maintaining momentum is more important and when slowing things down actually gives you greater control. The aim is a smooth, flowing convoy, using good line selection, controlled throttle and well-timed momentum to tackle this terrain efficiently. 🕖 DRIVE DETAILS Level: Fewbie Plus and above When: 22 August 2026, Saturday Meeting time: 07:00 AM - Sharp (Without any exceptions).
