Dear Desertnauts A quick briefing for tomorrow's drive. Get ready for a possibly challenging "technical" drive, on soft sand, and through tight dunes, with bowls, low but very wavy crests, and some vegetation, especially closer to the Qudra area. On the way back to the "Eye of Sauron" we should find the time to drive on some long range, taller dunes, where we'll do our best to speed up and practice switcing as well as side-slopes. The convoy at the moment looks like this: @Mahmut in Second Lead @Jerome at #3 @Giacomo at Center @Hartzel at #5 @Shary at #6 and @J-P L in Sweep. See you tomorrow afternoon. Have a nice end of the week.

Another great night in the desert. Thanks @_luke_ for organizing this trip and support team @Giacomo and @ChrisW to make it smooth. @Noufal it was great to meet you. Nothing beats stopping in the middle of the desert for chat and coffee. I put together a short video from the drive to capture the atmosphere. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DdG3duvILb1/?stkn=YzVyaGowbHZvbmtx See you next time

Drive Summary We kicked off at 20:00 with a short warm-up loop while @Noufal made his way over after trusting one of Google’s more imaginative “roads” and running a little late. The warm-up quickly delivered a couple of really nice ridge climbs, and from the top we spotted some promising terrain further out in the distance. Promising, as it turned out, meant deep, soft sand. Lots of it. And plenty of vegetation thrown in for good measure. Refusals were kept to a minimum until I managed to get crested, as usual, on an otherwise beautiful ridge line while trying to cross back to the right. “Got scared, got stuck.” A nice shovelling session followed by a little finessing with the winch by @Giacomo has us all moving again fairly quickly. From there we found some smooth, flowing bowls and had a relaxed cruise around before the most important part of the evening began: Coffee Club. Both caf and decaf (thanks @Piotr.) were on offer, followed by a good chat in the sand. A fun, easygoing night with some nice terrain, a little exploration, one predictable stuck, and plenty of coffee. Here is a nice pic from @ChrisW of me wondering how it all went so wrong. again 😂.
