replace with the coolant

the car the i have bought is a third hand car and the previous owners were using water instead of a coolant in the engine

can i start using coolant instead

please help

Get the radiator flushed once so that all the corrosion can get out of system and then you can use coolant.

Water is better than coolant in cooling quality but due to corrosive problem we use coolant.
