fuel gauge stopped working

hi, i have a 2004 ford excursion and my problem is that the fuel gauge has stopped working for a week . is there an alternate except to change it. please advice

If any other trim light also gone with that gauge failing, more than likely its a fuse or relay has gone bad.

Check all fuses and relay by yourself and change if any blown out.

if not its the fuel gauge that died on you, w/o any prior notice (like fluctuation or showing wrong gauge).
