External windshield cleaning

Seeking cleaning advice my windshield.

Somehow my windshield has become especially dirty recently. It is a grime type film that is really baked on somehow. Car washes, window cleaner, and household grease cleaners have had no effect. Some medium scrapping using a plastic access card (not recommended because they can be expensive to replace) helped as in the picture below. However, there must be an easier and faster way to do this without any risk to body paint or window seals.

Normally, when not facing the sun, you can hardly tell this film is there. However, as in the picture below, when the car is facing the sun, it creates a bit of opacity block.

Did you try using car polish?  It looks indeed like a rough coating. Perhaps bring it once to a detailing center and ask them to gently use the polishing disc machine to see if it comes off.

Try clay bar.

If that does not work - windshield polish. I got some reservations regarding it, worrying that it might create a lens effect if the guys who are working on it have no experience working with glass (anybody can polish, but not a lot of folks here know how to do it right and we all have seen results on our roads). Next time we meet I'll show you where (I don't want to get banned here for advertising )

My problem was that the car spent 3 winters in Europe with stones and salt corroding windshield and I did not want to risk replacing it (especially that they can break stuff when doing so). The result was phenomenal tbh...
