i smell smoke when i switch on the seat heater by mistake

In Dubai we dont use these option quiet as much and it is possible that after long time if you use it they make some smoke smell as moisture in the seats get evaporated. Turn the heated switch in garage with window open and see after 10 mins you still smell it. Most prolly you wont. If you do then get to electrician and let him check under seat for some wiring touching somewhere or may be something else is loos or hanging or touching.
