Loud Knocking From The Enngine Is It The Timing Belt

Do i have to wait for some problem before i am indicated that the timing belt needs a change or it has a shelf life ????

i hear a knocking from the engine and i want to know if this is the indication???

Timing belt shud be changed at 100k km. It doesnt give any knocking noise instead loud clanking or tearing your engine. If belt fails.

This noise must be from tappet or lifter of valve release, better show to good mechanic and dont drive till then. It might aggravate the problem.
