battery question

hey i wanted to ask a very confusing question.

i have LR3 2003 model and i have to get the battery changed.

my question is what kind of battery is better for this car the maintenance free or the one that require the regular battery water top up.

the mechanic suggested the maintenance free

please help

maintenance free is always better, so it wont die if you forget to top up water in other one.
