engine stalls

i have a 1999 defender which runs on diesel

the problem is that the car dose not rev, only when applying pressure on accelerator for a long time the engine starts picking up and on releasing the acceleration slowly the car looses its power and the engine stalls

please advice what is the problem

It cud be spark plug or throttle body is bad. check both.

FYI all Diesel engine do not have any spark plugs , for your car may be If I see the car I can find the problem
