sputtering and check engine light is on

when driving back from work in the evening the car started sputtering and the check engine light came on which cont. till i reached home

any ideas on what is this

Sputtering cud be coz of many reason, normal service due, air filter, engine oil or major is snapped timing belt or slipped its tooth.

get properly checked and diagnose and better dont drive the vehicle until then, call for recovery.
