particle filter additive level too low

i am on a look out for somebody to do this job at a lower price

when starting my 2006 Peugeot 407 i got the following message Particle filter additive level too low

when upon checking with the dealer they are charging me a very high price.

help

ok now since u have a diesel; diesels emit pollution containing large particles of carbon...a way to reduce the emission is to fit in a particle filter, just like a cat converter. the message u got is because that filter is getting a bit blocked......what i can suggest is to go for a long drive (an hour or so) at a speed of around 60 - 80 kmh to allow the particles to be burned off. when u stop again, disconnect the battery IMMEDIATELY after switching the car off...leave it off for 20 minutes. when 20 minutes is up reconnect and go for a drive. if the fault still comes up u will have to have the filter replaced at the dealer
