What dose the brown water in my Peugeot reservoir tank mean?

The service light just came up and when i checked My 2007 307 i found dark brown water in my reservoir what dose this mean?

It means you or previous owner was using water in radiator in place of coolant. Hence radiator is corroded, better get it flush and fill it with coolant. If car overheat now or in future change the whole radiator as it must be half dead by corrosion.
