rust in break

when having difficulty in breaking my mechanic has diagnosed the issue telling me that the break drums have started getting rusted

can the rust be removed or i need to change the breaks drums altogether

please help.

Brake disc rust can automatically get clean once you start using the car. If still feel concious get the brake disc skimming done. No need to change the brake drum if thickness is above 6mm at least.
