dry powder on the battery panel

there is some thing white on the battery panel that had seen today which got me worried what could it be. car is having no other problem so what is this white stuff.

The white powder around the battery terminals is usually lead sulfate

it is toxic of its inhaled, ingested and if it gets in skin contact is very harmful.

when the battery has failed and needs changing this happens.
