Intermediate Sweihan drive series II highlights First of all thank you all for joining the night drive and thank you for being punctual on time . As you realised the night drive is different than the day light drive where the world is far clear on the other hand at night every thing is lit tight bounded by our headlights , senses are alert to max and focus is sharper than ever. I am glad to learn that you all enjoyed it feeling the dark side of the desert . couple of refusals and stucks were expected not excluding my self which gave us the opportunity to shovel and warm up as well as to look into situations from different directions and solve it safely . @waqar brilliant second lead keeping the proper distance and in due time was able to correct my slips especially when I got trapped in a deep 360 degree super soft tight bowl . @Nizar Shawwa first time we meet . What a pleasure . You drove like a walk in the night park . Very well done @nithish468 you realise that at day or night always the focus and sharpness are wanted and the night is just a bonus for extra. Well done 👍 @Marek when you told me it’s your first night drive it didn’t feel like that as you were surfing just like after sunrise . I loved the 4Runner glowing . Excellent . @christian no doubt that you drive very well but man you gave my heart a shock when you criss crossed that dune 😅 @Brett Eicher good to see you pal after a pretty long time . You watched our back brilliantly and thanks for the tug 🤞 till we meet in SDS III take care and wish you great weekend

Great drive @Looper, really enjoyed it - thank you. The second half was especially nice with the flowing lines and convoy moving well. No shovelling or major pauses…we nearly got to baja style progression today!

Good morning explorers, @Looper has kindly offered to allow me to lead his drive the convoy order will be posted shortly. @Tatsiana Chase, @Gilberto, @Yurybel, @Stuart G, @Matt - monkeywrench, @Juan R, @J-P L, @Mehmet Volga. To begin with we will start our drive Faya side and venture into the sand towards Sweihan, I plan to hit 2 major waypoints one of which will be the iconic fox den where we can choose to take a short break, we will then continue to the next waypoint towards Sweihan pond once we have rested up we will explore further into the dunes this desert has to offer, the idea of this drive is to practice all the techniques you have learned until this point, with any extra time we will play around the dunes until we reach the exit point. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning.

I’m joining the celebration night too and bringing friends, they have 4WD but no dune crossing experience, is there an easy sabkha entrance to the campsite?

I wrote this feedback / opinion not long ago: please feel free to go through it as I think it answers some of your points ur looking for: That being said and it all depends on your character and profile, if this car will be ur first offroader, I strongly suggest to go with something that will teach you the art and skills of driving in the desert with minimal dependency on tech or power to mask any weakness. I started off with a pajero and I couldn’t be happier or more satisfied that I started with one of the most under powered, yet extremely reliable SUVs. It literally forced me to learn how to drive in the desert based on pure skills as there is 0 power that will help you to hide or mask any weakness. Once you master the art of driving and the best lines to choose to flow like water, then I would recommend you to go for the only vehicle that can do it all with 0 competition in the current global market: All ICONIC brands accounted for in my statement (it’s my humble and personal opinion). This vehicle is the Ford Ranger Raptor. I know my recommendation is a long route but you can take my word for it when I say that Pajero drivers see lines that no other drivers can see because those drivers never had to develop that skill due to their vehicles’ capabilities. Very long answer but hope it helps somehow @salahb

We will be meeting up at 6PM at the posted location point. You can deflate to 15psi to ensure easy driving to the camp point. If you decide to join later, there is a GPX track attached. We will be only a couple of dunes inside (5mins from meeting point). If you have some space left, try to bring some firewood if you can, as it gets chilly in the evening. Feel free to camp if you like. Bring some drinks, snacks, or BBQ, for yourself and whatever you are happy to share. Friends or family are welcome to join (no need to RSVP on the event). They can either jump in your cars, or if they have a 4x4 /SUV they can join us on the sand. Soo you all tomorrow ! DXB-AUS_TRACK (1).gpx

Ford ranger raptor. Ultra capable in desert, comfortable on road, great power to weight ratio, and no mods required. Big tray at the back for camping gear if you want to camp. I went and test drove about 10 different vehicles across all price ranges,.. put together a spreadsheet of spec, price, driving experience, warranty etc Check and details like clearance, angles at front and back, tyres, wheels, suspension, power to weight. Feed it to chat gpt for analysis, Then go buy the ranger raptor 😎
