To tell you the truth in todays market you will get mix cars with Hi and low mileage. If you search patiently you can easily find one around 120k kms at 2003-2004 model. Getting checked with AAA or A2B guys is very good idea and also ask them you evaluate too, so that you pay the fair price. Check with service history too as Farnley has mentioned its very important, though disco's is tough cars but at the end of day they are LR and british made that means less forgiving than Japanese cars. Good luck with your search, and do let us know what you get. Cheers.
If its older than 2003 model (old shape) then its better and about time to change to coils for worry free driving but you have to compromise a tad on the road comfort, but not much.
If its above 2004 model (new shape) get it fixed with AAA or A2B garage they know LR very well and not very expensive on pocket. Good luck Sally. If you need any more advise let me know or you can PM me. Happy to help LR enthusiast anytime.
Door bolt must be jammed. If somehow you manage to open then make sure you load WD 40 in the door bolt which latches in. This mechanism must be jammed if not used for very long time.
If you cant open at all, then see a denter who can remove the panel and open the door and then open the door inside skirting and inspect what exactly is wrong and change that part.
Its an amazing ride, my cousin has 97 model 3.9 liter V8 engine. Its bomb proof and great car with great engine. You cant go wrong with this piece of gold.
Bargain good, as these rides are bit pricey due to their scarcity in markt. Good luck and post some pics and show us.
Hi Miaa,
I agree with Kim_M on this AAA is damn good and professional where ladies can easily walk in and wait in a decent place until they look into ur car. Until you make visit to mechanic or wait for your brother, i strongly advise you to keep a close eye on coolant level bottle on right side of engine bay. Its usually a green color fluid in there. If its near emptying then stop at enoc and ask those fuel attended to help you topping up that coolant. Its no big deal, once you buy 10 dhs bottle of coolant every morning you can check yourself and top up if needed. Dont open coolant cap when engine is hot, let it wait it cool down for 15 mins atleast as its under pressure and it might gush out pretty fast if you open w/o cooling it down or while car engine is running.
Let the car engine run and sit down the driver side outside and smell below the car, it seems for sure that your exhaust pipe is leaking (minor) under the driver seat area, thats where its pipe passes from. If you spot the leak, you can take it to any welding guys who can close that leak (its safe and common practise). In older cars pipe tend to leak from several places. If thats the case you are better off changing the whole exhaust pipe. Couple of hundred dirhams.
Hi Gas
Car which is regular in desert, MAF freaking out is pretty normal, as slightest of dust on MAF sensor freaks the amount of air passes thru it. Open the air filter box and spray generously the carburetor cleaner until car engine stalls, then wait for 5 min and start the car again. Do this 2 - 3 times and see the difference.
Slight buzzing noise over fuel pump is normal, so dont baby your Landie much. But again yes with age that fuel buzzing noise increases a bit and it ask you to change the fuel pump. Drive until it die completely. If in doubt you can check the fuel pressure on Schroeder valve in engine bay, behind engine (in RR and Disco, not sure abt defender). If pressure shows around 30 psi when engine switch is on and car not running that means its fine.
Open the black plastic box in engine bay by removing the side clips. Lift the upper part and remove the air filter. Clean or change and fix new one and clip back that plastic box in same manner.
Looks like ABS box is dying, better get full computer check and if its some minor stuff you can clear the code and see if it again op o not. if it doesnt then its clean, if it does means ABS block need swap.
