  1. I just came back from that trip, made 3800km in 7 days including mountains, wadis, desert, 600km unpaved roads. All this in a Defender. With an LR3 the drive will be just more comfortable but also without no issues regarding the distance. As Kim said, just give it a good service before since there are not many garages on the way down and you might not wait to be recovered in the now rather hot period.
  2. My worst was recently a damaged clutch cylinder that lead to the problem of being unable to shift gears. Happened in a remote area in the middle of Oman, but made it down to Salalah where it could be fixed within two hours. Good thing about (most) Land Rovers is the simple mechanics.
  3. You are off topic, aren't you? If you need to talk, my email is above. Let's go back to the original topic now.
  4. Oh Udyan, as if I don't have other issues than playing it that way, really no need for that. Don't assume, that doesn't lead anywhere. Pretender. I still don't share the number on here. Whatever.
  5. Hi Silvera6, I seem to be blocked for private messages, can't read yours. Send me an email to [email protected]. Don't want to post a phone number officially on here.
  6. A friend got it done in Abu Dhabi. PM me if interested.
  7. I am a big fan of the Front Runner roof racks. They are slim, versatile and not overprized. Icon Auto has them or can ship them. Slimline allows you to get still in the parking with 2.10m, if no roof tent or other stuff mounted.
  8. Hi Callen, since I am not allowed to send private messages on here anymore...hope it works out. Should be well looked after. And for the tomorrows drive, we'll have more in the future. The one tomorrow is an easy one. You'll enjoy the next one on a Saturday I hope.
  9. Geraint just took his side steps of or plans to take them off... don't know his name here, but can check with him tomorrow. Should be in ok condition.
  10. Join us at one of the next drives, with your current 4x4 or as a co driver! Just to get you more inspired...
  11. The location has been selected now. We will meet at 2.30pm in front of the Dubai Outlet Mall: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=25.074567 ... 1&t=h&z=19 Please bring food, water, maybe a grill and firewood. The BBQ spot will be located close to a main road for an easy exit at any time.
  12. Great to meet again, Gaurav. You can as much of your family as your ride can handle. I think there will be more families around. 1. Manuel, D90, 0559355830 + 6 8. Khalid (90%) 9. Gaurav 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. ...
  13. Sorry to miss Liwa, Tom! Shame I can't make it - no days off Safe trip as well, bring them all back.
  14. Hi Haggis, welcome to the club! And a nice collection you have! What about joining this Fridays drive?
  15. 1. Manuel, D90, 0559355830 + 6 8. Khalid (90%) 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. ...
  16. Thats great! There will be some more coming, so far er are 7. Would be nice to see you!
  17. Since most of us haven't met yet, we would like to arrange a get together at the 10th of February. The location is still secret (or let's say not decided yet...), details will follow Wednesday. In any case it will be about 30 minutes away from Dubai and quick to reach also for all coming from Abu Dhabi without using the SZR and coming along the emirates road. Meeting is probably at 2.30pm and we leave the spot around 2.45pm driving into the desert. We'll choose an area that will be nice and easy to drive so that everyone can join. We will drive about 2 hours before reaching a bbq spot close to the next exit road. Who wants to stay can pitch the tent and stay overnight, who wants to leave should be able to do that in an easy way. Please bring drinks and food for the drive as well as for the evening together with your bbq or whatever you fancy. Everyone should also bring firewood. Having cars in good condition as usual as well as having any recovery points toegether with a snatch strap and shovel is surely helpful. Please note that this drive is for Land Rovers and Range Rovers only Looking forward seeing as many as possible! In fact, we would like to see all of you! Participants: 1. Manuel, D90, 0559355830 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. .....
  18. Won't be available either, sorry Off to the mountains. But great initiative. More of that. Nice!
  19. Anoop, I will have some special requests soon as well Lots of Electrical work especially...
  20. Yepp, easy thing to do. Drill, rivet gun... Do most of the stuff myself. Might change the interior as well and installing a drawer system in the back and probably adding some additonal torque as well. Installing a snorkel is rather on the easy side as well, depending on the model you chose. The available kits are all ready to mount, in most cases even without the need to open the hood.
  21. Hey Anoop, welcome! That is great! There are plenty technical discussions going on here, I am sure you will be most appreciated! Cheers, Manuel
  22. Yeah, that was my thought as well. The truck is now 208cm, not lifted, but with roof rack. Adding tent and other stuff it's 2.36 and goes only in a few parking lots. Attached a few pics of mine. Trying to stay as stock as possible. Just chequer plates, wider tires, underbody protection. Might add a winch with 1" lift anytime soon.
