  1. This is the typical "scaring" information you will get from the companies who do not offer such cover. No standard insurance covers racing, rally, motorsport, contest, kind of events as it requires a visit from an inspector to check your car modification quality and stage of modification to quote you accordingly. For stock or slightly modified cars with reasonable lift, filter and protection mods etc. standard insurance is more than enough. RSA, AXA and even Oman offroad cover "COVERS" all types of offroad accidents, flips and damages as far as they are accidents means unintentional with an exception of damage done while towing (not covered). So for extreme stuck situation (god forbid) RSA offer 2 free desert recoveries per year you can avail that. Call RSA and double check my information, as I have recently got this information due to an incident we had. For changing insurance on registration card, passing and renewal is required.....? Very weird. Have you called RTA to get this information or it was advised by existing insurance guys?
  2. I love the present one too as I have driven one and realize immediately how better Japanese performance stuff can get from the factory floor. Crisp performance, handling and styling.
  3. Beautiful video @Xaf, love the slo-mo sand splashback. Very creative. You can upload the video on YouTube and share the link here with best quality, that's what we all do here, because some format have limitation to play back in different browser here. I sometime cannot watch iPhone uploaded quick videos on my android.
  4. Offroad insurance is must have, as far as you can have it until 7-10 years of age of vehicle. If Noor can't add, cancel that policy and switch to RSA and AXA, proven best insurance with no-headache offroad cover. Check RTA process for change of insurance and update here too (in separate thread) to help others.
  5. Remove it and keep it safe or else if desert removes it for you then it wont be in reusable shape. Image is not very clear showing the right ground clearance, if its less than 1 feet, 100% remove it to get 1 feet of ground clearance (at least). If it's more than 1 feet, then you can take 50-50 chance, only if you are very careful on every dune decline.
  6. I dont have any wave card or app, just plain vanilla credit card. Hope they have some security in place to not to charge any card at multiple locations in case its lost or stolen. 200 is not too much to risk.
  7. My first debit card and credit card in 1998 had a pin too. Dont know about your dino era bro, it's a safety issue. Especially now in today world of scammers and thieves.
  8. Yes Shuweihat island still open, a friend visited last week. Still same story, part of its private area, part of it belongs to military, still you can access the open area and still people litter like garbage landfill and soon that will close this beautiful island.
  9. Have you ever noticed that ENOC fuel station doesn't require you to punch the security pin? I'm really clueless how, and concerned for safety to know more if someone is aware of any secret way to authorize credit card transaction without security pin or phone apps....?
  10. Yeah and it's called pre-order. It's still a big deal to score 200k in 3 days. Imagine 2 million preorder till production and even if 10% buys it makes 200k sale before the first truck rolls out of factory floor. Incredible.
  11. Don't worry, and don't waste time on those stuff as offroaders will always find there peace in the sand.
  12. Very welll said @Srikumar and its truly nice to see that you are growing and maturing in offroading, similar to what Rahimdad mentioned few days back. @Xaf we all love playing and that's why we venture out on our off to play and meet new faces and make new friends with similar interest. It's very natural to have that sneak-in and out behavior for little extra fun, but when you are still learning it's always advisable to stick to the convoy track, not only because you were sweeping but also you don't have much experience in leading. I remember doing something similar to venture off my own and after 15 mins my LC100 was almost 70 degree nose down and I was swinging on the seat belt that ended up with pretty nasty recover and bumper damage. @desertdude with your level of experience what an offroader drives in a whole year, you must have driven in a month or two time, so with that level of experience under the belt you know what you are doing within limits. And for patience that you mention for RD, it comes naturally as once you played and done enough you sober down and value making new friends than tearing every dune every week. For the fewbie level drives, if we have enough participation (more than 5 drivers) then we can continue separate fewbie drives now, as season is in full form and hope fewbie drivers aren't travelling. We can give it a go from next week onwards and test it for 2-3 weeks.
  13. This is how exactly legend stories are formed, as one guy saw stage III modified Patrol or LC 100 over the dunes doing wonders and he go to dubizzle to buy one and start crying after month of real struggle with stock vehicle "INCAPABILITY" or not meeting his expectation vs what he has seeing on that stage III modified version with triple the cost of stock vehicle. I have been fooled 2 times, same way. People use Patrol or LC shell not because they are capable but they are spacious to accommodate LS small block V8 engine or Lexus V8 with twin turbo or supercharger setup. Each build cost in range of 50-80K excluding the stock vehicle cost. @Javier M I agree these modern pickups are comfy and powerful but they are mostly found in Sweihan or Liwa type of terrain - ultra broad and tall dune range, keeping whale body in check on every dune is not fun. I have 3 friends with pickup and when they drive, they hardly cross any dune or crest, instead keep making a track sideways, criss crossing only.
  14. I meant for dune bashing and not desert driving. Going back to elementary question: Ask yourself how many times you have seen pickup doing dune bashing - less than 5 out of 100. We have seen usually LC and Nissan pickup doing the farm work in the desert.
  15. Finally an SUV that has been tastefully design with beefy looks, sporty heart and great road presence. I know what others might jump on saying oh its same as DB11, but that at least runs the legacy and looks good too than just swollen balloon or copy cat versions we have seen lately. Design department 10/10. Detailing 8/10 Exhaust 11/10
  16. Coming back to the topic Tesla Cybertruck is a PICKUP TRUCK, meant for Picking up load, tow things, long haul purpose (unlike UAE) and definitely not meant for dune bashing, but just an offroad drive to get where they want to go. Offroad and dune bashing is totally two different things. No pickup truck is ideal for dune bashing unless driven by @Asif Hussain
  17. Oh boy, now someone opened a can of worms from those 4 door Armada testing dayssssss.
  18. Well done @Shamil acceptance and self realization is the first step to success. As far as you have realized what was missing you can work on that area in the future drives. Every driver has some good and bad days in offroading, so don't get hung up on any specific mishap, it's ok. Probably you were just little hesitant because of check engine light issue. Research on this issue and get permanent closure on this so that you can drive and enjoy at ease. Secondly every driver when move to higher level require few drives to get soak in with the new challenges, pace and quick decision making skills etc. so it's fine, give yourself couple of intermediate drives and you will be fine.
  19. Now the people creativity comes in play to render however they like. Thanks @Atif for sharing. @desertdude I just shared this news and my viewpoints of Tesla Cybertruck - All Electric Pickup Truck, best things I like (those 5 points), but I am still not sold on EV idea all together, until they become viable. All those points I like can be implemented in any Petrol trucks / suv too.
  20. This guy known for doing things differently and I like the most in this truck: 1) Paintless, dent and scratches proof body, why others aren't thinking same way. 2) Inbuilt ramp for quad is simply genius. 3) Independent control suspension height. 4) Design is totally unique from today sheeps world. Not sure I like this yet, as I feel some minor detailing are still missing, but overall different design is great. 5) I dont care about bullet proof glass, instead I prefer breakable and removable glass for escaping from emergencies especially offroad related accidents or fire scenarios.
