Hi Hossein, Im Indian and I drive Pajero SWB for offroad. Driven fair bit of offroad in UAE with several clubs in Dubai in last 5 years, so thought of posting Mitsubishi offroad drive. John (Nativa), listed above have few drive experience. Zuhair (Pajero) is quite experienced and that's why he is in sweep in the end.

Lets get together and have very first FUN DRIVE of Mitsubishi Dubai on 20 January 2012, Friday. Level will be easy and as per cars capabilities and drivers skill, minimum 2 cars is must to go. We will drive around fossil rock area on Shj Kalba road and see if we can continue till Bidayer. Meeting Time: 2:30 pm Meeting Point: Emarat Petrol Station (Kalba Road) GPS Coordinates: 25° 14.059'N 55° 34.443'E which is a petrol station just after the Dubai Bypass rd on the way to fossil rock. Starting Drive: 3:00 pm Ending Drive: max 6:00 pm Requirements: (not mandatory but preferable) Adequate recovery equipment (Shovel, Jack Lift, Wooden Board, Spare Tire, Air-compressor, towing rope and shackles rated ones) Radio (Walky-Talky). No, its a steering lock problem inside the steering wheel that isnt working.

Get the wheel alignment and it will drive straight.

Sounds like a gear issue than a mounting issue, but im surprised how noise disappeared after the mounting has been changed. Seek a gear rebuilding company to check the gearbox and advise, it surely is gearbox issue.

Looks like motor is bad, and its stuck. Need a new motor if all electrical and fuses are fine.

You can find many shops in Al quoz doing a professional job at quarter the price than dealer. To name just a few: Technical Garage, Dynatrade, Autoxs.

Thanks Ghassan for quick trip report and pictures. It was my first drive with Range Rover (Ghassan, its not RR Classic). And big thanks to Richard (Doc) who made sure that my RR comes out in one piece, with front bumper so low i had no hope of saving it but with good pace and careful choice of track by leader my wife is still happy, as this RR is on my wife's name. Whats in the name though I would like to thank Manuel for second lead, Ghassan for sweep, Vulcan, Arif and Naushad for good company. Looking fwd for the same experience again, it was pleasure driving with zero ego and like minded people so that we can enjoy the natural beauty and company than showing off......! Thats sad. Which car you drive? Im desperately looking fwd for tomo drive as since long i haven't touched the sand due to busy schedule and family commitments. Hope we have good fun tomorrow and meet new faces.

Thats Musa's RR if i am not wrong. Will try it with you moro and see if my RR bumpers are really low or not. lololol.

Hi Gas Can my stock RR also join? I never tested my RR in sand so far, but i am regular off road in sand with my Pajero. Wanted to test RR so thinking this fossil rock is gonna be easy one or not? My 2000 rangie is on coil and with low profile tires, is it advisable to join?

My Pajero makes click click noise on turn from redlight and on u turn. Changed axle boot, it was torn and also change external ball joints still it makes noise.

Hi VCO, just curious to know how you measured the volt on MAF? I have Range Rover and multi meter tool, could you please explain how do i measure the voltage as i never really fiddle with electronics. Thanks.

Hi Guys, pretty new here. Nice to see local Dubai based Mitsubishi forum. Here's my problem. Two week back battery died completely, so changed to new battery. Before changing i myself check the alternator by jump starting the car and let it run for 30 mins without any battery and jumper cable. I assume alternator was fine and battery was dead. Bought new battery and drove well for two weeks. Since yesterday i am getting now A/T and Battery icon in dash in red color constantly and not going off. It started with occasional occurrence for two days and then it used to go off randomly. When these both light appear AC fan reduce speed and all lights get dim, as if alternator is dead. Checked A/T oil level is fine and oil is in great condition as it has been changed last year only around 10k kms back. Is there is anything i have done wrong in fitting battery myself or missed out on some earthing or additional wires? I think may be but may be not, if i did something wrong then how come i have driven car for two weeks? Pretty confusing for me to guess, so i need your help guys. Thanks in advance.

Just a while back got low brake fluid warning, so check the level and it was at min. So added fluid to make it to Max. Next day morning saw same fluid leaked on floor and leverl came back to Min exact. Still light flashing. Then got all the four brake pads changed and light went off for two weeks. Now everyday light is flashing once or twice in every drive. No leaks have been noticed if i am not adding any fluid. And fluid level is perfectly at Min. Is there any sensor is freaking or something else? Please help guys to find a permanent fix for this issue. Thanks in advance.

Wait for another die hard landy fan (one of my old friend) Desertdude, to comment on Diesel engine oil. He tried this on his discovery and i am sure he will share some info with you.

Hey CJMCG It seems in this part of world people love to own two or more car for different purposes. Asking on landie forum for other brands will always be biased , no offence to Doc or my advises. I am doing regular off roading here in Dubai, and i can bet i have not seen much US (other than Jeep) or UK cars in desert here. Japanese rules big time. I dont mean to point for LC which is safari guys donkey cart due to cheap maintenance. Few cars i own for offroad: Land Crusier: Big disappointment for good off road capabilities unless you like to do sand cruising ONLY. Damn reliable, cheap maintenance with high resale value. Nissan Patrol (SWB): It was amazing for off-road with good grunt and respect but limited climb capabilities. Discovery: Same like LC, slightly better due to smarter gear ratio. Pajero (SWB): Overall quite happy since almost two years now and plan to keep it for long. Few Cars i own for road (Comfort and safety wise): Discovery: Super sliky V8 that you will love on road. Mercedes ML500: F.fast, responsive and most fuel economical V8 i have ever owned plus decent comfort and safety. Range Rover: Nothing comes closer to its class, status, respect, comfort and power. I give more marks to RR than my Lexus GS430 comparing its a luxury sedan still. Few comments about your choices: Armada: dont even think of taking to offroad as Doc mentioned you will break more parts and bumper than driving. Hummer H2: Good, capable off road vehicle but being so heavy you need to remember its 3.2 tonnes weight before jumping over a smallest dune. My colleague broke its shock absorber on its first off road drive over a small unintentional jump. Took us 3 hours to recover it out of the dunes. Maintenance cost i have no idea. Xterra: Very good off road car and successful due to good value for money, road comfort is decent but not great. Patrol (LWB): New model i dont know, Old Vtec 4.8 is beast on off-road and super safari option is equally good and comfy on road. Prado 4.0 (LWB): Amazing off road performance but being a soft car, regular bashing is not advisable. Its more of road car than off road. Prado 4.0 (SWB): Nothing better than this for offroad having 262 hp sitting on 1.7 ton car. Give a two inch lift and off you go over highly modified jeeps and landies in desert. If you have a budget of 150k ( i assume if you aim for RR-S), then get 2006 RR (Autobiography or Vogue) for 100k and spend 50 on SWB Prado (4.0). To have best of both the world. Two cars is always better than one to serve backup for each other.
