  1. Please check with Rahim bhai or with Shadow (Saleem) Welcome Ahmed, for your first drive with us. Do share little about your off-road experience and RSVP the calendar please. Good to see back after gladiator fighting. RSVP the calendar please.
  2. Call below spare part guys who deals in Jeep and give you car VIN number and they can arrange the same in probably half of the price: https://carnity.com/search/?&q=jeep&type=cms_records5&nodes=83&sortby=relevancy
  3. Well that's a very bold statement that Dubai isn't selling 0w20 engine oil......lol. Call these spare part guys who deals in Honda and check: https://carnity.com/search/?&q=honda&type=cms_records5&nodes=83&sortby=relevancy
  4. Like danny said as it not too bad, because the Japanese cars focus too little on sound proofing unlike German or UK cars - different world altogether. What I meant is, don't spend too much time and money in perfecting after all the basic checks are done.
  5. Mobil 1 and Castrol Edge has 0W20 spec oil, google their dealer and find out how much it is and where is the nearest retailer they have: Mobil 1™ Extended Performance 0W-20 Mobil 1™ Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20 CASTROL EDGE 0W-20 CASTROL EDGE EXTENDED PERFORMANCE 0W-20 CASTROL GTX MAGNATEC 0W-20
  6. Remote car starter is the thing what Barry is suggesting. While looking for one, look for the one that comes with knocking option on the windscreen. I have seen this lately in Russia, that windscreen will have small circle saying knock-knock and when driver is away and car is parked and someone knock on that sticker it will beep the keychain that driver carries means someone want to reach you. Simply brilliant.
  7. As per the codes, I have an option to check all system in car from dash on board computer and for second time when car started it was showing "Service Advancetrac" that's a Ford stability system. I wasted full day online yesterday to search Amaron or Varta for Mustang but failed as those batteries doesn't come in Mustang size DIN type battery as per few monkeys over the phone. Went to Rask al khor by myself with current battery dimensions and bought similar size Amaron 74 AMP, went home and plugged it in and car started and roared without a hiccup. Drove for an hour with ear to ear smile. What a total waste of time and learning curve to not to trust in-dash battery checker showing battery is good, green eye like saleem said is also waste of time. Thanks Barry for being very helpful on phone and advices for debugging, to doubt more on battery.
  8. Are you serious that Accord need 0w-20.....? Check your owners manual for exact specs. I had Cayenne, Range Rover and ML all of them listed 0w30 -0w40 for UAE climate. 1000 AED for oil change is really too much. My current Ford Mustang get full minor service for 500-600 with fully synthetic oil for 10k kms.
  9. Great good luck then, but do keep a constant eyes while off-roading as Pajero heating is always on borderline and with slight bump in heat AT gets heated up quickly. Btw, habtoor won't fix that as they won't have this available as AT cooler fan never comes here. So you always need to do some work around solution to find and fit other car model fan. I doubt that by taking extra precaution you can void the warranty but you will extend your gearbox life, still worth discussing with dealer and get it in writing that they won't void the warranty before you go this route. Back to original topic now, have you feel any major difference on-road driving after chip tuning? Have you done before and after 0-100 by yourself? Have you record before and after fuel consumption?
  10. Well you really need to show it to competent mechanic to advise you correctly whether you need new hose or thermostat or both. It looks only hose to me from the picture. For the parts, leave it to the part center advise if its available as two pieces or one as many time our assumption doesnt match with part dealer greed here. I have to buy 200 dhs gear shifter cable for 5 dhs plastic bush needed for my wife Trail Blazer.....!
  11. My 2012 Ford Mustang GT with 115,000 kms is not starting after 7 days of sitting in parking. It has 15 months old Solite 66 Amp battery that shows green eye (good health). Still I suspected the battery, so use the Anker car charging battery and it did start the car in first attempt. After a while shut the car off and start again to test - not started. Used the Anker charger again several times but failed. Then hooked up with my Pajero 90 AMP (2 weeks old) battery and car didn't started at all even after revving Pajero or leaving jumper cable on for 20-30 minutes. Removed the mustang battery completely and hook the jumper cable directly to Pajero, still not starting. The only difference I notice is when I hook up jumper cable all interior light comes up full bright, as with old mustang battery it stays dim. After all this, I doubted on corroded battery terminal with lots and lots of greenish dry residue, so gave all terminal full detail cleaning with steel wool and made them shiny, but still car fail to start. Then in end before giving up hook up an Anker again and this time it start the car again and I let the car idle for 30 minutes to charge the battery fully. Again when I switch off, it didn't started back EVER, even with help of Anker and with jumper cables too. Please help guys on what I am missing here......?
  12. Can we see a better view of leak and thermostat and some more detail about the car to advise properly? Not all leak need thermostat change as may be it's installation done wrong. Thermostat usually don't leak but they fail to open and close at right time to interchange the cold and hot coolant.
  13. Love this idea, extremely useful and brilliant - real out of the box stuff to have variable windows tinting. Thanks Barry for sharing. I went ahead and called Ghosts tints for pricing and legality - it's 8,000 AED for LWB and 6,000 AED for SWB. I love this idea from off-road perspective to have nice dark tint in desert day drives and dim to zero for night drives.
  14. I think first you need to check your PSF (Power Steering Fluid) level and top up if required. Also check if power steering pump is working fully or not? For any modification to make smoother than stock fortuner steering may be some of mechanics here may advise you accordingly.
  15. It's once in a year opportunity for all off-roaders in UAE to meet and sit in one place to enjoy Great Grand Iftar together. It's being held in coordination with all off-road clubs and approx 400-500 cars shows up every year in Iftar bowl near Tawi Rafadah in Bidayar area. Whether you are fasting or not, it's a must drive to attend to watch the union of off-roaders and witness the love and respect that everyone share in this small world. I have attended this twice in the past and always enjoyed meeting some of my old off-road friends and making new friends. Plan is to start from Tawi Nizwa area and follow the fence toward end of the track and then head to Iftar bowl. Considering the fasting time, first 9-10 kms is simple plain desert track next to fence. And then last 2-3 kms is good playable area in rolling dunes just before we reach iftar bowl. After the Iftar we might go for a quick spin in that same or closer area depending on everyone's availability and exit. When: 9 June 2017, Friday Meeting time: 4 PM, convoy will move sharp at 4:15 PM Where: Jabal Arafat Supermarket GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/wxKht3VLdZU2 Level of drive: Absolute Newbie - Newbie - Fewbie - Expert - Advance - All are welcome Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance Plan: Day drive from Tawi Nizwa to Iftar Bowl and enjoy Iftar together. What to bring along: Evening snacks, food for Iftar - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 9 PM, 9 June 2017, Friday List your name and mobile number in this drive thread and RSVP the below calendar:

  17. Another night to remember for a long time. We started on time, with minor delay and headed straight to Bidayer. We entered from Big Red area and played on top and then find our way to behind big red to switch to right side medium to big dunes. As we progresses in that area, dunes were getting little tricky with sharp cresting. We drove for an hour and everyone enjoyed the drive in spite of quite humid night outside it was pleasant breeze inside the desert. As we continue further, one of the car ditched in the soft sand pocket. After failing attempt to self recover, we decided to give a tug. While tugging on soft sand need little harder tug, but that resulted in snapping the tow point which was welded on radiator support and ripping the radiator from bottom. It took Saleem's genius work of art more than 2-3 hours to repair that burst radiator in the desert with whatever limited tools and emergency repair kit we have. All of sudden in the middle of night we experienced a super dense fog formed due to mist / dew and made everything around us fully moist and foggy. As the time was ticking for dawn, so we all decided to lay the suhoor spread and started eating together. As usual we were overloaded with food and spoilt with so many options that one layer wasn't enough. In the middle of this sad and tragic situation we still manage to enjoy each other company with ambiance music, good food and stories. Once radiator reasonably repaired to drive back, we thought of sketching an easy path so that radiator doesn't hold much of pressure by kicking up the heat. I and Basil went to near by exit and after an hour we realize that nothing is gonna be easy as we were surrounded by some deep nasty bowls and tall dunes in both the directions. Luckily while exiting we explored the third and last option in the daylight and that turn out to be reasonably easier for all and we finally exited by 6:00 AM to the road. It's an amazing night to remember with the challenges that we face and we stay together to deal with it as one strong army. From the mechanic point - tools supplier - food organizer - scout support - and even the hairpin supplier (Sri's sister). Many thanks to everyone for their patience and support which really makes this community grow stronger and closer with like minded and trust worthy team players. Here are the pictures from my camera and hope to see all of other pictures soon: https://carnity.com/gallery/category/21-suhoor-night-drive-1-june-2017/
