    Dubai Police Fines

Very good point raised, that due to extra slow vehicle in fast lane people drive very fast in slow lanes and then in such emergency situation some unfortunate people pays the heavy toll. Too bad. People here really need to understand to how to use fast and slow lanes appropriately as per their desired speed and not just by any other rational / frustrations.
  2. Well I only got once minor service with Habtoor when my Pajero has some strange missing problem that used to fluctuate the idle. Habtoor costed me 660 after discount and still problem remain same saying car is too old and engine is gone bad and they need 3000 dhs to diagnose. Bit of googling and some educated member here, pointed to replace ICV (Idle control Valve) that was 300-400 dhs and instantly the idle fluctuation gone. My rough estimate for major service habtoor might ask for 2500 - 3000 dhs, outside with any good competent garage you can get it for 1000 - 1500 dhs range. Major service actually varies big time on number of things required replacement. Check with @Barry if they do major service for older Pajero, you have my strong recommendation for awesome knowledge at very competitive pricing.
  3. That's a very good price, I am sure it's a scrap AC compressor pricing. Isn't? More important I'm curious to know who have done the scouting for the compressor as that is more time consuming than repairing time?
  4. I agree with LAZER in Karama is also good, Mr. Prakash is an awesome gentlemen who knows the value of customer service.
  5. I agree as well Prestone, is best among all avail coolant in UAE. I used to use yellow gallon, then graduated to black can - 10 dhs expensive but offer boiling point of 129 degrees as oppose to 109 degrees for yellow can. As Diamond Dallas says it's best for desert.
  6. And at a very reasonable price. The roadside mechanic in Bur Dubai who pushed the cable back into the rotten bush, charged me 100 AED.
  7. Yes @nutbolt it's a known error and not only for Chevrolet Trail Blazer but for so many German and American cars that use DURA shifter cables. No offence to DURA (some hi-tech automotive design company) capabilities to design good shifter cables but with weakest link made with a plastic bush, that sit next to exhaust and exposed to underbody bashing. This plastic literally rot and flake off in Dubai summer hitting 50 degrees. Original Chevrolet cable for shifter comes for 250 AED, but again it comes with crappy bush made from plastic. Means again it will melt and stop working someday. Found an idea to replace that plastic bush with nut and bolt with little modification from ssrfanatic forum, shared it with @Barry as it required bit of tweaking in cutting the riveted head off to make way for bolt to pass through. Spend an hour today with barry at location garage in Al quoz and got the real solid work done for life for 50 AED. Thanks barry for wonderful adaptation, precision and excellent workmanship shown for such a small but tricky component. AS OF YESTERDAY, QUICK FIX (Secured with a wire) THIS IS THE CULPRIT (Plastic Bush) FLAKING OFF IN DUBAI HEAT WORST IS CHEVROLET DOESN'T SELL THIS BUSH (Buy the whole shifter cable kit for 250 AED). SHAVED OFF THE RIVETED HEAD (in 15 seconds) REMOVED THE METAL PLUG (bush holder) TO MAKE WAY FOR BOLT ALMOST READY TO ROCK-N-ROLL GOT 1 BOLT+ 2 WASHERS + 2 NUTS + 1 PIECE OF SMALL PIPE (To place inside the below big black hole - to allow the required movement while shifting gears) SCREW TWO NUTS AGAINST EACH OTHER TO LOCK THE BOLT, WITH REQUIRED PLAY TO MOVE WITH SHIFTER READY FOR LIFE IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES = 50 AED (14 USD).
  8. Last night my wife 2009 Trailblazer gear shifter knob become totally free and not shifting to any gear and stuck at P. Called the recovery, but challenge was to get it out of Parking to push or winch it and not to break the parking lock / gear. Hunt one roadside mechanic who quickly fixed the shifter cable (I hope) and car came back home on its own. Schedule the visit today to see our dear @Barry for further inspection and seeing if wire is repaired professionally or need replacement....? If anyone here experienced similar issue with their Trailblazer, please share.
  9. @teajay is that waterfall in your video is in Jebel Yibir? Please give coordinates, I think we need to go and check out. Looks damn cool, will be good to escape from Dubai 50 degrees heat.
  10. Hmm great, so how's the temperature in the night there now?
  11. I will join, wherever you are heading as I need to test my wife's chevy trailblazer and plus I am not as picky as mr. nutbolt.
  12. Looks like you guys are extra busy today, being a saturday. Surprise to see that Rangie is still there, I am sure owner must be having few extra cars in his garage that he stopped caring about delays on repair work, lol. Btw, whenever you are free let me know how much it cost for rim protector and how long time required for fixing this on my Mustang?
  13. Ford Mustang Shelby or Roush Edition - Stage 3. Go to 1:42 Minute for exhaust note.
  14. Love to see the morphing of those two images. I love the styling irrespective of the taxi joke, which to some extent I agree. It's interior is equally stylish, seen it in a video few weeks back.
  15. Nice thread, my first car was 1992 Nissan Sunny in black exactly same like below, nothing much to show off but I use to be like a Michael Schumarker on every red light. Torn engine foundations, blown head gasket and rebuild engine in 1 year and realize either I need a faster ride or learn to control my heavy foot. Finally learned to slow down after seeing so many bills. Bought it for 6,500 AED in 2002 and sold for 4,500 in 2003 after spending 5,000 in maintenance issues.
  16. I so agree with teajay, American V8 is different world all-together. Btw, Dodge is an American Mitsubishi: Cheaper to buy but lil expensive to maintain than Chevy and Ford. Husain1 is right, I heard some horror stories as well that Dodge AC costed 18k to replace/rebuild (can't remember correctly).
  17. I beg to differ guys here because I do drive V8 Mustang and still don't participate in Motorsport. All my life I have been 4x4 guy and changed plenty of suv and 4x4 that I was bored to death after 15 years. To change my league I turn to sports car and tried Mustang as I always use to love it's design since my school days. After owning one, for little over a year now I do enjoy it everyday and the best part of it is the zippiest acceleration to beat all the odds on the road daily. I don't over-speed, but yes I do accelerate fast that help me connect the herd of slow driver on daily basis. Everyday I witness these herd of slow tailgating drivers - 50-60 cars driving slow as one car in front is not in mood to drive fast in fast lane and rest all are the lazy driver or ignorant driver to follow them at 80 on the road of 120 blindly. As soon as I cross one herd I see more than 500 meter - 1 km of empty road (I'm serious) and connect to another herd. In such scenario car with crazy fast acceleration helps a lot and it helps more than 10-20 times a day to move in and out yet SAFELY. I don't find Mustang comfortable enough, but just due to it's crazy fast acceleration I'm still driving and enjoying daily on Dubai roads. So according to my experience @treks and @Technician I don't like your suggestion and governments or car companies should come up with better rational (no offence). In my eyes, I think sticking to efficiency and emission control is better and more practical than resting on engine size or number of cylinders to be more fair to save the world resources and control pollution. My Mustang reading in last test in March 2016 was Petrol CO: 0.04% Petrol HC: 27 PPM VOL Mileage: 11-12 L/100 (When not pushed) and 14-15 L/100 (when pushed)
  18. Thanks Salman for adding further useful information, that I'll remember while upgrading tires next time.
  19. With my limited exposure to engines unlike you techy boyz, I like Lexus GS430 engine (3UZ-FE) a lot. The only reason to like, it's super duper quietest V8 I have ever seen at all revs and yet deliver tons of power to move and thrill. I had it for almost two years and still regret selling it.
  20. Thanks guys, for all the help and yes indeed I will consider tire change to OEM size or slightly bigger to counter this speed variance. Will only change the cluster, if it fails completely and not for this minor issue. Have a good day guys.
  21. Thanks guys for all advices. It is important to see the right speed to avoid fines and not to block any traffic by driving too lower than road limit. Although it is not critical that I will sweat too much for this. Here is the tire size that I clicked, any idea is it same size or smaller than stock for 2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4.2 Liter V6 Engine.
  22. Thanks Derick, for sharing this nice video of AMZ. Just see more in action at below video after 6:05 minute. Real cool electric sprinters, now I know what Technician refer to better than Formula 1.
  23. I just drove my wife's Chevrolet Trail Blazer yesterday for few hours and noted that it has huge notable variance on the speedometer as per with two different mobile sat nav (Iphone and Sony). At 120 km I was getting 110 in GPS, I understand the small variance is acceptable but this 10 km variance seems little big. In my Mustang I get 117-118 in same mobile GPS when I do 120 as per car speedometer. Any idea how I can fix this variance....?
  24. I agree with you, as I sat in 2016 model in Al Tayer showroom few months back and realized new Mustang shrinked few more cms from driver side. Me being close to 6 feet almost struggling in my 2012 GT and wouldn't consider an upgrade coz of this reason only. Explanation from Ford sales adviser: 1960's Mustang was even smaller than today model and it is designed for sports feel than the creature comfort, so cramped up feel is intentional. I simply smiled and walk away.
  25. @captainmickoo roush is bit louder and few of my friends faced an issue while passing in some of Tasjeel outlets, try shamil , so be ready to pull some strings or keep stock exhaust handy.
