  1. How do I test if the battery is good or bad in my Mercedes?
  2. Did you ever drive your Fortuner on desert or off-road? Well, you cannot really blame the dealer for this. I mean dont take me wrong, but may be you drove your car somewhere, that the tire burst out because of that.
  3. Torque converter is an auto part only in automatic transmission cars. Basically this converter is like a donut, I mean the shape. There is bell housing between the engine and the transmission, inside of which is the torque converter. But this donut is made of hydraulic slip clutch, reduction gear and the fluid coupling. All the three have their own functioning. The hydraulic slip clutch helps in maintaining engine idling while the car is in gear. The reduction gear basically improvises the engine torque by multiplying it. And the fluid coupling helps in transmitting that engine torque into the transmission. Let me just try to cut short in a simple language. Now, since automatic transmission doesn’t have a clutch, the engine has to work independently of the transmission. Now here, the torque converter plays a role of fluid coupling. The amount of torque passed by the converter works with the speed of the engine. When the engine is turned slow, it means the car is gonna be idle, that time the torque sent from the converter is very less. This helps in deciding the pressure that one needs to put on the brake pedal. So when the engine speed is fast and the coupling of fluid is constant but high, it means the car is driven at high speed, so the amount of torque from the converter will be big as the pressure to press the brake pedal will be strong. So all the three parts of this donut plays there role simultaneously with the speed of the engine and the car. Also, the torque converter is a crucial autopart in an automatic transmission car. If that fails, there is no chance that you can drive your car. Proper maintenance is required to keep a keen note on the converter that it works properly.
  4. Well, i gave my car to the dealer already. lets see what hppens
  5. Woah! Lot of informationmy friend. But thanks. Its really informative and helpful.
  6. I heard somewhere about the two types of braking system in a car. Air braking and hydraulic braking. Have no clue what they are? Does someone know about this? Please tell me, just curious to know!
  7. Why is the thermostat stuck open in my car. It is 2009 model. never faced any challenge like that, and frankly speaking, not really sure whats wrong.
  8. Can anyone tell me how antilock brakes work? I have heard a lot about Antilock brakes (ABS), but have simply no idea how it works.
  9. May be the oil filling was not done properly by them. Or maybe the oil level may have gone higher than the normal level to be maintained. Oil leak is actually dangerous for the car, because it damaged many engine parts and sometimes the engine gets burnt because of overheating.
  10. Can I replace the windshield wipers of my defender?
  11. How is the oil consumption of Range rover cars. Please share!
  12. Wow. So many! I know some more: car seats (sometimes), stereo system (not fused), tail lights, tie rods, wheels, reservoirs(coolant, vacuum), valve cover and wiper arm as well. I know all these things as per my experience as my friends did the replacement of these things before.
  13. Also, when the windshield wiper blade start streaking and chattering, its time to replace the wiper blades. And do not ignore such things because it sometimes damages the glass and at last, the visibility becomes very poor.
  14. Hey LandRover Lovers!! Please describe and explain the interiors of your car in this section that you like the most and why? I really like the interiors of Land Rover models and thus want to know about the same. Please share!! Thank you
  15. Changing the case is possible but it will cost you close to 150-200 dhs. However something very similar happen in my old Range Rover and spare part shop sold me that rubber pad that i conveniently fixed myself. It seems that spare parts shop know what break first and they keep such stuff in stock. It costed me 15 dhs for key fob rubber flap from Gulf star in sharjah. Call them and check, if they have something like this for your Discovery too. http://www.landroverdubai.com/spare-part/gulf-stars-sharjah-t421.html

  17. The problem with LR is that most of the issues are co-related, it will not be limited to oil change, sometimes electrical earthing also has its role to play, even idle knocking. It needs specialist to check LR by the way. Al Tayer can help not sure how many times
