  1. Dear Sand Sailors Wow, just realized its already been more than two months since we went on that high speed, adrenaline pumping drive from Tawi Nazwa to Big Red - the 1st phase of this series - covering more than 50Km in less than 2.5 hours. With weather getting really nice, glad to launch the 2nd phase. This time we will start off next to Last Exit with one and only mission - keep the wheels rolling and while side slopping, ridge riding and criss-crossing through the dunes in Qudra, go as far as we can go. With no specific exit in mind, its going to be a drive with focus to indulge in our innate NEED FOR SPEED (while ofcourse keeping safety as our top priority). General Info This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to go through below information and and strictly follow these guidelines in order not to jeopardize someone's health, and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely. 2. Ahoy Sand Sailors, Greetings from the land of pyramids. I have been on move since I woke up for the drive this Sunday. Feels like the momentum we gathered during the drive has continued till now 😀, it was some good pace and action throughout the drive. Thanks for joining in and making it a fun exploration from Faqa to Little Sweihan or as some call it The Middle Earth (land between Dubai and Abu Dhabi) 😀. I had my doubts (had never attempted it before), however with the strong convoy as it was, we managed to accomplish the mission we had set out for. Overall we covered around 63Km with an average moving speed of 28.8Kmph - an awesome stat considering the unlimited number of long ridges we travelled and the mysterious bowls in Little Sweihan area we sailed through, especially with treacherous nature of sand this weekend. While it was a FBplus drive, your response to challenges pushed me to maintain a level no less than Intermediate throughout the drive. Brilliant work all especially @Mahmoud Taha and @salah2u our FBplus sailors on this drive. You guys were no less at any point of time. @Looper thanks as always for being a solid cf throughout. @Imteeaz and @salah2u - hope you enjoyed being the SL in this fast paced drive. You handled the challenges very well - especially there were many crazy tight and soft spots that we crossed. @Niki was good to see you after a long break - your shoveling skills have only gotten better during this long break, as promised we gave you good enough time to flaunt the same 😀 @MMansoor - another brilliant drive for you. Thanks for keeping the convoy together while sweeping the convoy during the first half. @Mahmoud Taha awesome drive for you, minor refusals at this level is perfectly fine - it was surely beyond a standard FBPlus level drive and for that you did really well. As we discussed, a bit more planning while approaching a challenge makes a lot more diff. Thanks all, hope to see you all soon.
  3. Dear Sand Sailors Find below the convoy order and other details for the drive tomo. Meeting Point : https://goo.gl/maps/WbWFK5iwurzey1dF8 Radio Channel : 3 Convoy Order : With small convoy size we will keep it revolving, to start with below is the order 1. Varun Mehndiratta 2. @Imteeaz will be the SL. 3. @Mahmoud Taha in Xterra 4. @Niki in FJC 5. @Looper in Wrangler as Centre lead. 6. @salah2u in Patrol 7. @MMansoor in Patrol will be Sweep. Looking forward to see you all👍
  4. Was about to ask the same - as other than Cooper they have the best of sizes, so lots of offer for my R18. Following the thread and hoping to get some good first hand usage feedback.
  5. Wow now I understand why you guys were enjoying so much th me view at the back of convoy. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
  6. Dear Sand Sailors @MMansoor @Daniel Rodas @Niki @Mahmoud Taha @Yusuf Esaf WL - @salah2u @Imran Kashif Thanks for RSVPing for the drive. I am sure most of you have been to Faqa and some already have had chance to explore Little Sweihan. Both of these are my go to areas when in need for an adrenaline pump. And this attempt to combine them both together is really aspirational to say the least. We will need to be fast and we will need to be focussed - at all time. Even for me this will be first attempt as lead to try and cover both of these terrain together - so I am super excited and eagerly waiting for the weekend already. So make sure you plan your week in a way that you are well rested for Sunday. Ensure your vehicles are in their healthiest best. It will be challenging, it will test ours and our vehicle capabilities -in course make us all a better off roaders. See you all on Sunday. Ciao
  7. Dear Sand Sailors @Senthil Kumar @Mario Cornejo @Tom B @Imteeaz @MMansoor Thanks all for joining in for the drive. We started off with a clear aspiration and there was no stopping this awesome convoy from the word go. Everyone did really well throughout the drive and handled all challenges as a team. We had minimal stoppage time other than 2 pop-outs and a couple of car issues (more of a checkpoints). This meant we travelled around 55Km at an average moving speed of 21Km/hr - a brilliant outcome for the terrain. Refer stats below, throughout the drive we were above the 200m mark and overall our accent from the drive exceeded 1300mtr - perfectly aligned to the goal of the drive. Kudos to all, especially Senthil on his first Int Drive. Looking forward to see you all soon - for another beautiful day on sand. Cheers

  10. Hi Sand Sailors Looks like we have all super power vehicles and turbo charged drivers. 11. That’s boring @Srikumar … @Frederic drive seriously? Let’s do some close your eyes drive .. what’s the fun in a systematic drive 🤣🤣🤣
  12. Thanks Kailas … yeah concept is done going for KO2 or Geolandar with Mopar kit n spacers … however stuck with aanother challenge. though size exists with both brands, with R18 stock is not easy to find 🤣🤣
  13. Dear Sand Sailors @Imteeaz @Tom B @Mario Cornejo @MMansoor@Senthil Kumar @Charbel@Imran Kashif Thanks for RSVPing for the drive. We have a short and strong convoy - a perfect setup for our planned exploration through the beautiful tall n steep dunes in Shuwaib. I have been traveling and missed being on sand over last two weekends. So eagerly looking forward to hit the dunes and see you all on Sunday. cheers
  14. I think got a bit off the track here 😀 I mentioned lifted jeep can accommodate upto 35 but I am actually planning (refer my original post) for 33 or 34 inch only .. and that’s the main challenge/query - Geo or BF with 33 or Cooper with 34? 1 inch vs realibility.. yes @Srikumar going for 35 will require re-gearing as per Trading Ent.. Yup planning with approx 1:1 on lift and spacer .. 2 inch lift with approx 2 inch spacer.
  15. Hi @Rizwanm2 I can go up to 35 without rubbing .. that part is checked (mainly as going for lift by 2 inch)
  16. Limitation on approval of budget from Home Ministry… 🤣 had spent extra to get black rims when i bought my Jeep now have to live till I repay the loan 😃😃
  17. Hi All Planning to provide new feet to my JLU Sahara. Key issue i have is that i want to stick to stock rims i have i.e. 18Inch - limiting my options as most brands have limitations in size when it comes to R18. Both 33inch and 34 inch tyres can fit into my vehicle. Driving Style - Along with being my weekend offroader, its my daily drive as well, So onroad experience matters. However, my average mileage isnt that high. Have done 40K in almost 3 years in my present tyres. No specific plans for Wadi drive (perhaps once in a while). Looks Preference : Surely like the aggresive look, however, not too concerned about it. Look vs performance, i will take performance at all times - both onroad and off-road. Request your advice on below options Option 1 : Cooper AT3 (4s or XLT) - They have the biggest tyre size available in R18 - 295/70/R18. However, have heard that its sidewalls arent the best and they arent very reliable tyres. 4S i understand is better than XLT onroad and in sand. Option 2: BF Goodrich KO2 - Though not many options, could find 275/75/R18 in them. Understand a bit heavy however known for their performance. Looking for direct feedback based on usage. And is it worth going for these while compromising the size vis-a-vis Cooper (lose 1 inch on ht as well as width) Option 3: Yokohama Geo - Understand very nice on-road and off-road. Again the size is a challenge best i could find is 275/75/R18. Lightest of the lot. Request advice on is it worth comprising one inch vis-a-vis Cooper. And if better than Cooper (despite size limitation), how they fare compared to BFGs. Thanks for your advice.
