  3. Thanks Sailors it was a nice outing with a small convoy into the dunes of Lissali. Since we had 2 riders less than planned, we reconfigured the whole convoy ordering and started to move as planned at 5:32pm Within first 10min as we entered the tech dunes, it was clear that we are in for some hard work today. Shovels and ropes spent more time out in sun then in the comfort of our ships. From being royally crested to be stuck at softest of patches of sand, convoy had it all today. Bumpy ridges challenged the convoy as well. In general believe every one got a chance to pull and be pulled out 🙂 Even the master of tech dunes @GauravSoni wasn't spared as we managed to hit the fast sinking patches of sand more often than not - welcome to Desert drives in summer time. @Warren Flay thanks for being the SL. Hope you enjoyed the challenges the role offered. You were super prompt in your response to all my requests and managed the same very nicely. Thanks a lot.for your support. @sri ganesh it wasn't an easy terrain and coming back to drives after a big gap further added to the challenge. You handled it all with a smile and learnt through every stuck and refusal as was clear in your last self recovery attempt. Looking forward to see you in next drives. @Jona in general apart from couple of stucks and refusal, very nicely driven, you have good control over the vehicle. I strongly believe you should have been able to self recover from that crest (especially post shovelling). Perhaps next time we spend some more time on this aspect - today we were already running against time with sun shining bright @Naim Aoun thanks for keeping the convoy together as Sweep. You did a fabulous job while executing a perfect drive. Thanks @GauravSoni for your guidance and support throughout the drive. Looking forward to see you all soon.
  4. Dear Sand Sailors Wow, what a convoy it's shaping up to be. It's a small convoy with Big vehicles- we have it all from F150 to Y62, LWB Jeeps to Pajeros and ofcourse the ever reliable Fj. And to top it all an equally diverse experience level - this is going to be fun 🙂🙂 This convoy size and overall diversity offers us a lot to play around - both in terms of what we can cover en-route as well as how we can play around with convoy order. So my plan is to have a dynamic, flexible concept drive. We will start off with order as below and based on how things go will shuffle around things to see how we can maximize experience for us all. Meeting Time - 5am sharp without any exception. We will be using Channel 2 on radio. My mobile number is 050 4430 882. In case reqd feel free to contact. Convoy Order Varun Mehndiratta in Grey LWB Wrangler in lead.. Followed by @Warren Flay in his Golden Pajero as SL (last time you were Sweep so let's start off with something diff this time). @FiNaR in his F150 kicking off his first FB drive at number 3. @sri ganesh in his Pajero at number 4. Then at number 5 comes the big news of drive - due to some car issue unfortunately @Shaaz Sha won't be able to join however we have @GauravSoni - the master of theme based drives. He in his LWB Pajero will be keeping the convoy strong in the Centre position.. Number 6 will be the @Jona in FJC. @salah2u in Patrol at number 7 And @Naim Aoun at number 8 sweeping the convoy in Jeep Wrangler. Looking forward to see you all at starting point. Please ensure you and your ride are well rested and fully loaded with fuel. 🙂
  5. Hi @Frederic have to travel Tuesday morning, so won't be able to join. Thanks
  6. Dear Sand Sailors Hope you all are having a nice week and are looking forward for the weekend ahead. @Beide Worku@salah2u you have been added to the drive. Please confirm your availability for the same. All others who were already added to the drive please ensure that in case of any change in plans do update the RSVP by end of the day today. @Paolo Morresi @Paolo PellegriniPellegrini @FiNaR @Jona @Naim Aoun @Quresh Pajero @sri ganesh @Warren Flay Looking forward to see you all. Cheers
  7. Dear Sand Sailors Thanks for RSVPing for the drive. Lisali is known as the first love of those who enjoy technical areas. However, there's another side of Lisalli - much less explored and hence much less travelled - its the beautiful long range dunes that extend beyond Muraquab in North to Qudra in South and much ahead. Our plan for the drive is to explore this terrain - criss-crossing through some awesome dunes and riding some of the most beautiful ridges Dubai has to offer. The fact that King of Shuwaib and Badayer @Shaz Shah has decided to join with us is a good reflection of what this terrain offers..:) Thanks @Shaz Shah We will meet at 5am and based on how it goes will decide our end point close to 9am. Looking forward to see you all on sunday. @Paolo Pellegrini @FiNaR @Jona @Paolo Morresi @Naim Aoun @Quresh Pajero @Warren Flay @sri ganesh On WL we have @Beide Worku and @salah2u.
  8. Dear Sand Sailors Thanks a lot for joining in for my first full lead drive and making it a memorable event. We couldn't reach the planned destination, however i enjoyed every bit of it and hope was the case for you all as well. In patches we were fast and at some instances a bit furious, overall thanks to your company it was 3.5 hours of pure fun. We started the drive at 5:34am and within first 30min crusing through the long range dunes in Qudra, we covered 15Km at 31Km/hr and just when I was about to pat my own back, @Quresh Pajero announced our first stuck of the day. After that it was @Davie Chase and his rope time as we covered only 5-6Km in next 30 min - sorting one stuck after another. @Sudhanva Sonawane found the crest on a bumpy ridge so comfortable that we had to literally tug him out and @Pieter Potgieter accomplished an amazing feat - getting a deflated Wrangler stuck on a flattest of patch 🙂, followed by another stuck by Quresh. In order to cover up the time i decided to move to Sabka and take a short route through a small patch of close knit dunes to reach Crescent Lake (was really a small patch I counted it was just like 9-10 dunes 😂). At that moment @Mahmoud Taha realized that while running late for the drive he had missed out on his Yoga poses, so he tried it with the car itself in a pocket🙂. After @Hisham Masaad winched him out crossing through the crescent lake we explored a few more ridges, handled a few more stucks, criss crossed through some dune and then as it was almost time we exited next to Solar Park. Overall we covered 48Km at an average moving speed of 25Km/Hr, really good for a FB drive especially since sand is getting soft due to heat and at the end visibility in white sand was making it tricky to criss cross or be on ridge. @RiaanJH @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler @Tareq Al Turq@Gregory i had no visual on you however based on radio and fact Deepak still had more than half the tank of fuel i believe you all had perfect drives 🙂👍 Thanks @Hisham Masaad for all the guidance, thanks @Davie Chase for all the hard work was a busy day for you and thanks @Warren Flay for keeping the convoy togather. Hope to see you all sometime soon. Thanks again for a nice morning in desert.

  13. Thanks all, we have now confirmation from all except @Quresh Pajero - who perhaps being busy or travelling over the week hasnt responded yet and couldn't be reached over phone as well. Since he has RSVPed and not yet informed about his absence, i have to give him benefit of doubt - can happen with anyone of us. We already have a long convoy however considering Quresh's missing confirmation i will open for one more position - believe we can manage with one more even if we have Quresh joining in. Based on numbers of drives done this week, @RiaanJH you are first on WL. Kindly advice your availability.
  14. Thanks all for your feedback. Dear @Tareq Al Turq @Gregory @Pieter Potgieter @Quresh Pajero please advice your plan.
  15. Ahoy Sand Sailors Thanks a lot for RSVPing for the drive, looking forward to see you all on sand. There are numerous stories, legends associated with the track we plan to follow, more on that will share later - let the mystery stay for another couple of days. Will it be fast or will it be furious (or maybe both) we'll see on Sunday, either way, we will surely have lots of fun. . @Hisham Masaad has agreed to leave his fav domain in Sharjah to join us for this drive - looking forward to see his FJ cruse through dunes of Qudra. And we will be supported by @Davie Chase whose shiny new shovel and viking rope is all set for the drive. Thanks Davie. Timing plan (just in case this helps anyone make their decision) - We plan to start to move with the first ray of sunlight at 5:30am. So, all please plan to reach on time in order to be delfated, flagged up and all set by 520am, following which we will have a briefing and will start to move sharp at 5:30am Since, we have quite a few Sailors in WL, just to ensure we don't lose out on a slot, please confirm your availability for the drive. @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler @Tareq Al Turq @Gregory @Sudhanva Sonawane @Mahmoud Taha @Warren Flay @Pieter Potgieter @Quresh Pajero @Adam James @Paolo Morresi WL order is as below, please share your confirmation as well, so as to evaluate options.
