Dune Crossing Tutorial and Techniques
Srikumar replied to Frederic's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
To criss cross, the most important is the technique: The approach angle to the ridge, getting your self parallel to the ridge, ridding it and then crossing over. In my opinion, this can be done in most dunes if the basics are followed, unless ofcourse if there are rocks on the other side. But that's the risk the Lead takes. The Lead also keeps in mind the convoy level that is driving behind and whether everyone would be able to do it safely. On bigger and taller dunes, in addition to the possible fear factor one should do it with the least amount of indecisiveness. If you are at the middle or the back of the convoy, you need to trust that if the cars in front have done it, I can do the same. -
hahaha....Thanks Fred for introducing me to Spotify. I love the soft rocks of 70s and 80s like Bee Gees, Dire Straits and yes, I absolutely love the Eagles with one of my favorites being The Last Resort. But with the Indian music collection improving on Spotify, my current playlist are old Hindi songs from the Black and White Days of the 50s and 60s, where poetry, lyrics and the singer's voice were given more importance than the music. That was a time when you would have singers going through an entire song in a single take with a live orchestra. In Hindi songs, my all time favorite singers are Mohd. Rafi, Mukesh and Manna Dey. In Instruments, one of my favorite Indian instruments is the Santoor. Try listening to the music of Shiv Kumar Sharma's Spirit of Kashmir in the early hours of the day. It transports you to another world. The sound of the running water at the start is so amazing. https://open.spotify.com/track/4IlPJeZ7wWAb7uIy9dblYN?si=wKlCeeHjQhamChW3pAFsbw&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1

Hi John, we had made the guidelines of 14 days quarantine last year as per the government rules prevailing at that time. So my advice would be that, if the current government rules permits you to go out and not be in quarantine, then you are most welcome to join the drive. Regarding the radio, we shall provide the same for the drive tomorrow incase if you are unable to arrange it.

Wheel rim size Mitsubishi Pajero

G012 is the previous model of Geolandar's AT. I think the production has stopped. G015 is the current model. In terms of difference between the two, I feel the side walls of the G012 was stronger than those of G015 -
Wheel rim size Mitsubishi Pajero
Srikumar replied to Wrangeld's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
I increased the width of my XJ's tyre from stock 235 mm to 268 mm (31 inch x 10.5 x 15) on the same rim width of 7.5 inch. That has also ensured that I have not had a single popout in 3 years, even when driving on very low pressures as well as hitting some nasty bumps. But unlike in the Xterra where you have not had inner fender rubbing issues by increasing the tyre width, in the Pajero you will most definitely have rubbing issues with stock rims unless you upgrade to deep dish rims or put in spacers. And I concur with Fred, that the benefit of upsizing from 265 to 275 is negligible compared to the headaches involved. -

Since you drive a SWB, try going to 12 psi on the rear tyre with 13 in the front. Avoid sharp turns and fishtailing and you would be fine. Regarding changing to AT, try to get the feedback from other Pajero owners who have downsized their rim to 17 inch. With more rubber thickness you can afford to go lower on the pressure probably till 10 psi.

Trivia # 3 (XJ and TJ owners can relate to this) I've said it before, but the Jeep 4.0L engine is the toughest, least maintenance-demanding engine I have ever had personal experience with. Folks on the internet know that the Jeep 4.0L is durable, but they know little of its history. The original Jeep 4.0L inline-six was hewn from a solid block of granite by lightning bolts. Its cylinders were bored by the Imperial Winds and its rotating assembly was balanced by the Scales of Justice. The Ancient Egyptians used Jeep 4.0L engines to move the blocks which built the Pyramids, only switching to slave labor when it was found to be cheaper than the olive oil used to fuel the engines. Scientists have ranked the Jeep 4.0L engine as one of the strongest forces of nature, racking right up there with tectonic plate shifts for its low-end torque, and being surpassed by hurricanes only for its comparatively low redline. Mechanics have found imprints of fossilized dinosaur bones in block castings, and serial numbers in Roman numerals are a common sight. The design of the 4.0L's fuel injection system has been traced to the archives of Leonardo DaVinci, and early manuscripts of Shakespeare plays have been used as head gaskets for this engine (which, incidentally, explains the gaps in Shakespeare's collected works as well as the 4.0L's tendancy [sic] to leak oil). The engine's ancient roots also explain its ability to run on some very non-conventional fuels (original translations of the Rosetta Stone include evidence of Jeep 4.0L engines running on ox blood) as well as lubrications (during the Middle Ages, Jeep 4.0L crankcases were often filled with barley, with no detrimental effect on power output). Historians maintain that the fall of the Roman Empire hinged on their inability to design a superior engine, and had the Titanic been powered by a 4.0L Jeep engine, 1912 might have been a much happier year. Yes, had early-20th-century naval engineers had a touch more foresight, the Jeep 4.0L may have saved mankind from ever having to endure Leonardo DiCaprio and Celene [sic] Dion in the same sitting. The only weakness in this otherwise unstoppable force of nature? Emissions. Yes, the engine's design may have come from the hand of Zeus, and its exhaust note at full throttle may have reverberated along the rock formations of Arizona to forge the Grand Canyon, but by the year 2007 its crude emissions control (originally consisting of papyrus strips soaked in the tears of the young Tutankhaman [sic]) had become outmoded, and the legendary, nay Biblical force of the Jeep 4.0L was put to rest. Hi Jerry. I understand the exceptional circumstances we are under and hence the drive time has changed to 6:30 AM and we shall be ending at 9:00 AM. But please note that I will not be allowing late comers to join the drive, simply because we have a very limited drive time before it gets blazing hot. See you on Friday morning @ShereenMK welcome to Carnity Off-road club. - Please share your vehicle details - Make, Model, Year. - Do you have any prior off-road experience? - Confirm your vehicle has front and rear tow hooks / eyelets. Please ensure that you go through the absolute Newbie briefing video on the drive post as well as all the instructions mentioned. You will need a pressure gauge and deflator as a minimum for this drive.
