With such an amazing convoy strength in Shuwaib, we would most probably better the Amazing drive that some of us did a couple of months ago that I was privileged to be a part of. Expect lot of high speed maneuvers, long hill climbs, criss crossing on some of the most amazing dunes that this area can offer. As mentioned in my earlier post, with such a good partipation @Islam Soliman has been kind enough to lead another convoy. Both convoy numberings would be posted by tomorrow evening. Look forward to meeting the big boys of Carnity.

How to disable driver airbag on Pajero

Probably because they don't fly unlike Jeeps -
A working bumpstop might also give the feeling of bottoming out. The reason I feel this is because from the pictures the distance of the tyre from the fender seems to be higher
-
If this happened with OEM shocks as well, then your bumpstops are the culprit. Measure the distance and get them replaced to a longer bumpstop.

Shuwaib offers some of the tallest set of dunes outside of Abu Dhabi. With its innumerous hills and bowls, its the perfect playground to push driver and car at the rev limit on a continuous basis. Expect a fast paced drive with long hill climbs, crisscrossing on top of the dunes and various bowls with ofcourse plenty of soft sand due to the summer heat. -------------------- This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. Thanks Fred, for taking us to a wonderful part of Sweihan. The first part of the drive did have an unusually high amount of bushes which added another dimension to off-road adventure and the 360 degree bowl was the a wonderful icing on the cake. A few points for all the drivers which was quite evident during the play time : 1. Don't get carried away when you see such a bowl, as in the quest to go higher and faster, errors would happen. Your first attempt should be at 70-80% of your car's capability in order to judge the terrain before going at 100% throttle. 2. While side slopping never fishtail. That's an absolute No No. We were extremely lucky to have some near misses with no incidents. Driving within your vehicles limit is a key ingredient to being a good off-road driver 3. Ensure that your radio is working and you are on the right channel. If there is a silence on the radio, always do a Radio Check. Few drivers were making errors in the bowl while also having their radios mistakenly changed to a different channel. 4. Lastly, sometimes some of the senior members might have to speak loudly on the radio to draw your attention to an error that you are making. This is purely in interest of your own safety and there is no need to feel panicked after that. If the anxiety levels are high, take a break, get down from your car and have a bottle of water. Never drive under stress or fear as you stop listening to instructions and also commit more errors at the same time Safe driving everyone and look forward to meeting you all soon in the sand.

If the shocks are bottoming out, that that will reduce the life of the shock. Bumpstops are provided to protect the fender as well as shock bottoming.Or the replacement shocks are of different dimension compared to OEM
-
But if the tyres are of stock size, it's strange that after replacing the bumpstop with OEM it's still hitting the fender. If you can try to measure the distance from the bump stop end to where it's supposed to touch, and compare it with the distance of the tyre to the fender that would give you more accurate results. I am not sure where the location of bumpstops are in Pajero, but in Jeeps one of the most common method to decrease the gap between bumpstop and the point of bumpstops imapct (axle) axle is by adding hockey pucks via a bolt.
-
Is tge top side of the tyre is hitting the fender, time to change your bump stops.

Welcome @Neil Jarman it's great to have a fellow driver with a 90's car. We are a rare breed. The YJ and that too with a manual transmission is an extremely capable offroader, so you will have loads of fun. Just be sure that with a manual transmission, you don't use a half clutch. You might get away without burning it on the road, but on the sand it can be unforgiving. On the sand, the clutch is either fully engaged or disengaged even if the engine keeps stalling. You will get used to it. And when instructed by the senior members in certain situations it would be better to put it in 4Lo to get the car out of the situation. That helps prevent the car stalling at low rpm. Good luck!!

If it's a 20 inch LED light bar, install it on the bumper.

Srikumar replied to MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
2 ton is enough, but get the one with swivel neck. That's more important
