    @Frederic I think it's more linked to the speed rather than the RPM. However, when I used to drive a 3.8 Pajero, I tried my best to keep it below the upshifting point of 50 kmph ( or close to 5200 rpm). But he problem then is that you don't have enough momentum for the climb. I remember at Faya, I managed to keep it in 1st gear (tiptronic mode) by controlling the speed. However, the result was the same. It just wouldn't climb. And in last week drive, I even tried the Faya climb in 4 LLc, it would still upshift. @Julien V something was a bit off on your car as there was no road of the engine. It's better that you check up the basics like air filter, throttle body, MAF sensor once.

    It was to be 3 Jeep and 3 Japs, but couldnt get the last one up to the top. Hopefully next time

    Try paying from the ministry of Interior App or Website. You can make online payment only if there is no black point associated with the fine. If black point is there then you need to go-to Sharjah police station along with drivers license and pay the fine and get the black points. Good luck

    Welcome @Omairfk. Thank you for answering the basic questions and appreciate your enthusiam to learn desert driving. Regarding the air damp, it does seem to be low hanging and I would suggest to get it removed. What do you feel @Gaurav, @Rahimdad?

    If you are driving within the city, this would be the mileage. If cruising on the highway at around 100 kmph you will get about 8 - 8.5 km/l

    In ENOC anything below AED 200 doesn't need a pin. This extends to many other retail outlets as well that accept Visa Wave cards. Just tap and hear the sms on your phone.

    Thanks @Xaf for your feedback and I like your enthusiasm. Kinda reminds me of when I started offroading where I was more than eager to play at every possible opportunity. But one rollover while criss-crossing at a wrong angle and speed made me realise that we need to push ourselves only to a certain point and not go overboard. It's based on such experiences and that of others that I was also in agreement when the Carnity Off-road Structure was formed. For Fewbies we do give them some responsibilities like second lead, Sweep etc. to test their readiness for the next level instead of testing them on particular sidey or hill climb. Now the duty of Sweep is to ensure that he is "always" there to assist when any of the other drivers need assistance and ensure smooth convoy movement and communicate the same to the drive lead periodically. So, while you were playing at Sweep position if you would have got stuck/lost then it would be very difficult for us to trace you back. Criteria's for upgrade to the next level is clearly laid out on the forum, which is based on performance and active participation during the drive and not just a particular side slopping test, etc. I believe with Carnity it was your first fewbie drive and Rahimdad has given you some positive feedback on how to improve for the next level of drives.

    Yes, you are most welcome to join. Since you are taking possession of a s cond hand Wrangler on Wednesday, just ensure that all the fluids are in good condition. And that the front and rear tow points are in good condition. Regarding the equipments, you can get them later. See you on Friday.

    One of the main reasons that we don't suggest a bottle Jack or a scissor jack is that in the uneven surface of desert the jack might fail. They are fine in a flat surface but not in the desert. Not sure about the electric part though. Are they reliable?

    Hi Amit, can you advise if you have third party or comprehensive insurance cover. If it's third party insurance then don't bother with off-road cover. But if it's comprehensive insurance, then it would be a decision that you would have to take on whether you wish to drive without off-road cover. I don't think it's possible to have two insurance from different companies at the same time. More importantly, you need to see if you have free recovery service. This is one of the most useful option if you intend to regularly off-road.
